Chaz Lytle Bio
As a Graduate of Seminole HS, Chaz was All-State and drafted in the 48th round by the New York Mets as a pitcher. He attended JC baseball at South Florida CC and was 1st Team All Conference. He transfered to Daytona State College where he was an All-American both pitching and in the OF. He chose the University of Georgia out of 7 schools and set the single season records for Hits(108), Stolen Bases(33) and second in triples. Chaz finished second place behind Kahil Greene for the "02" Golden Spikes award. He then played in the natorious Cape Cod league(Cotuit) and was a mid-season All-Star. Chaz signed with the Pittsburg Pirates on July 3,2002 and hit 296 for short season A ball. In 2003, Chaz won the BATTING TITLE (MILB) over Hanley Ramirez in the South Atlantic League. In 2004, he was rated by Baseball America as one of the top twenty prospects in the organization and attended Intructional League that year. Chaz played AA in Altoona, MLB Spring Training from '03-'06. Following his career with the Pirates, he played for the St. Paul Saints and in Japan as well as for the Pensacola Pelicans and the Atlantic City Surf. Chaz learned much of his baseball coaching knowledge from Rick Eckstein (Washington Nationals MLB) and David Eckstein (Retired MLB). After his playing career ended, he pursued scouting.
