Oregon Magic's Kenzie Smith Named Oregon AAU Athelete of the Year

Kenzie Smith is from Springfield, Oregon and attended Springfield High School.  Kenzie has been playing basketball for 8 years.  She joined Oregon Magic, a local AAU club, when she was in the sixth grade.  She continued to play with them throughout her high school years.  During those years she was able to participate in national tournaments. When she was asked the question:  How do you feel about playing AAU?  She responded:  “I love it.  It put me miles ahead of my school team.  I also got to travel to a lot of places and meet tons of people.  It made me balance my time between basketball, school, and other activities.  It was a big part of my life and I will never forget it and the people I met along with it.”
Other honors and awards for Kenzie:
·        All Midwestern league selection
·        All tournament team – San Diego
·        National Honor Society – 3.5 GPA
·        DECA
·        4-H
In the fall of 2009 Kenzie will be a freshman at Oregon State University where she will major in Animal Sciences.  In the future she plans to become a large animal veterinarian.
