Hello All
It was a pleasure to view your web site. I am very proud of what you have done. It brings tears to my eyes, to see that Dan and his fellow workers and family are still running the OPHL.
My wife Brenda and I were involved with the OPHL many years ago. We are very pleased to see that players are still playing for the Catalano Cup.
It would be a great honour for me, in your
next season, to be in attendance to present the Catalano Cup.
Wishing you all the best in the future.
Hello to all the "old timers"

This is surreal.....To think that something my grandfather created so long ago has touched so many. People like you are the reason that my grandfather Bruce Reynolds will never be forgotten. Thank you all so much

No question about that Dom. The OPHL is well-established, organized, fair and above all, dedicated in making this FUN for all of its players. Our family rates the OPHL gang as being one of the BEST run, non-profit youth sporting organizations in ONTARIO!!
Way to go Sharon and Dan and all the other OPHL organizers! |

Wow what a ride coaching the OPHL has been. My last day was Sunday and I was a little overwhelmed with the finality of the day. I wanted to thank Dan, Sharon, Bob, Sue, Deb and all of the referees and linesmen who make the OPHL such a terrific league but I was struggling a little with my emotions. I also wanted to thank the parents I have come into contact with over the years. I have been very lucky to get such a great group of people who understood what I was trying to accomplish with the kids. I always felt that our job as a coach was much more rewarding when the team was losing than when it was winning. To win with grace is commendable but to teach the kids to deal properly with defeat was much harder. This year I had a team that didn't win a single game yet kept fighting right until the final whistle. I don't teach the kids to accept losing but to keep trying even when you are losing and not to simply give up. These kids were a perfect example of determination yet they were good sportspeople despite the losses.
As the head coach you tend to get all of the accolades and yet the assistant coaches and managers have as much input with the kids as we do. Thanks and good luck to Frank and Bernie. The league and the kids are very lucky to have coaches like you guys.
Finally and most importantly thank you to the kids. You taught me as much as I ever taught you. Your ability to play at such a high emotional level and then move on after a tough win or loss is a lesson we as adults should take to heart. I will miss your smiles and laughs as well as hearing " Where am I playing today coach?"
Good luck to all of you and I promise to stop in and see as many games as I can.
Sincerely,
Paul Arkell |
