Hello- Just a reminder TODAY is the girls spring track meeting. 2:45 in Mr Cavallaro's room. Bring a friend! TRACK STARTS MONDAY!! 4 DAys!! THIS WEEKEND IS A GREAT TIME TO START RUNNING! If you start TODAY, and run you will get a good start!! This means you wont be AS sore on Tuesday! TEAM WEBSITE- www.eteamz.com/onteoraxc If you plan on getting new running shoes you are better off going to s store to get them not online, this way you will have them for monday. I would also suggest you wear them a few days before you run in them, if not a week or mow. This will allow them to mold to your foot and prevent blisters If you want to purchase your OWN spikes you can get free shipping on orders over 75$ from www.eastbay.com using code EMFS8FF5 Here are some suggestions: some great spikes at 9.99- cant beat that! REMEMBER these sizes are USUALLY in mens. For Womens sizing SUBTRACT a size 1/2 to 2 sizes from your womens size. "As a general rule, converting men's to women's shoe sizes is fairly simple - you would subtract two sizes from your U.S. women's size to find the appropriate size in U.S. men's shoes." For example, if you wear a size 9 in U.S. women's shoes - you would most likely take a size 7 in U.S. men's. Most spikes are sprinters spikes so it is easier for a sprinter to find spikes. http://www.final-score.com/catalog/advancedSearch/?supercat=home&sport=Track+%26+Field%2FXC DISTANCE SPIKES AT GREAT PRICES- These wont last as track season is here and EVERYONE will be buying spikes! Of course if you have a question just shoot me an e mail. Remember you DON't HAVE to pay 100$ on spikes. These spikes are 9.99-19.99 because of either limited sizing ( they dont have enough to cover all the sizes), or because they NEW models are coming out. The new models are TYPICALLY a marketing scam and cost A LOT more!! Trust me you can get a great pair of spikes for 9.99-19.99! Remember it is not the spike that makes you faster- it is the training YOU PUT INTO IT! Good luck! these are just a few, there are plenty on the website!

END OF SEASON MISC Congratulations to everyone on a great season!! This will rank as one of the most successful seasons in my coaching career- with so many of you showing an honest hard working commitment day in and day out. Hard work pays off and it shows. Nearly everyone ran faster at MHAL's than when we raced at Mills earlier in the season!! That is terrific!! I look froward to next season with you all - and remember cross country is actually a summer sport that is played out in the fall!! This means we start in the summer NOT the first day of school!! PRACTICE THIS WEEK: If you would like to continue to practice this week that is fine- Monday 4:20 Tue- 4:20 Wed- we may go to Bear Mountain to practice but I am unsure Thur- no practice- no late buses Fri sectionals UNIFORMs- please wash your uniform and bring it to the banquet in a bag. PLease put an index card in your bag with your name on it so I know whoise uniform it is!! ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS- I NEED the money !! Please bring it in ASAP!! Checks payable to Onteora Cross Country BANQUET- The banquet is November 14th, 6:00 HS cafeteria Middle school bring Desserts 9th, 10th, 11th grade please bring a dish to share 12th grade- bring 4 bottles of somethign to drink! I will take care of plates, cups, napkins, utensils etc... It is helpful for me when the 9th-10th-11th graders tell me what they are brining so I have an idea iof we will have enough!! Plese e mail me with that info! WINTER TRACK- Most of you ask me: Coach, how do I get faster, and my response is : Run!! Well I hope you will all continue to run and train and Winter track is the PERFECT way to do this. If you want to get faster, if you want to prepare for the spring, if you want to have the BEST spring track season ever- you need to do winter track. Here are a few reasons: 1) winter track build character- come on it is cold out there!! If you can handle that you can handle anything else!! 2) no speed workouts!! 3) weight room- this is the only chance we get all year to add some muscle to those skinny arms and legs!! If you lack the speed in the finish or the strength, this is how you do it!! 4)Competition- if you w3ant to be the best you have to race the best!! West point offers the BEST competition as you run with all schools!! It is a GREAT experience! 5) You wont get in shape sitting on the couch watching cartoon network and eating ring dings or cheese doodles but you will on winter track! 6) FIELD EVENTS!! Yes you can experiment with field events and see if you have a future as a shot putter or pole vaulter!! Maybe a jumper!! 7) You did all that work this fall turning your body into a machine, hard as a rock- don't let up now!! Seriously- I hope you will all run winter track. If you have questions or concerns see me!! Thanks again for a great season!! Coach B

This is a VERY important week for practice. If you want to be successful at MHAL's then I suggest that you NOT miss practice this week!! Also- for MOST of you this is your last week of cross country. The top 7 will race Sectionals- which means if you want to run at Sections or extend your season this is the week to do it!! Also be advised that top 10 will continue to practice for sectionals!! ENTERTAINMENTS BOOKS DUE!! If you sold a Entertainment book please bring your check in( Made out to Onteora Cross country) ASAP!! END OF THE SEASON BANQUET The end of season banquet will be Wed Nov 14th. 6:00 PM HS Cafeteria This will be a pot luck so everyone will be asked to bring a dish to share!! I will take care of the plates, napkins, silverware, cups If I could have SENIORS bring drinks- 3 bottles of soda, juice, cider etc.... ( we have 4 seniors so this should take care of drinks- that would be terrific Modified please bring a DESSERT!! to share!! ALSO- please bring your uniform to the banquet!! DO not bring it in during the day as I am not in to take them. Please have your uniform in a plastic bag with your name on the bag or on an index card so I know who you are when you hand it in!! WINTER TRACK The winter track sign ups will be going up this week!! If you want to continue running or want to improve as a runner I HIGHLY suggest you do winter track. It is also incredibly important that you run winter track if you want to be successful in the spring!!
