On Deck Fury 12: Welcome
Friday, July 25Congratulations to our '95 On Deck Fury for their 4th Place Finish in the "A Division" of the Triple Crown National World Series Tournament!!! Congratulations to all the teams that participated and to those that finished higher than us, Stingers '95, OC BatBusters, and American Athletics. All three very good teams. We finished the tournament 7-2-1 with wins over very talented and well coached teams, ie Victory USA, Quicksilver '95, Sudden Impact, and Crunch. Our week was a complete success due to our complete team hitting, defense, and pitching. Congratulations to AL for being the fastest 12U player out of around 1,000 TCS Players, quite an accomplishment. Also, congratulations to CG, TS, SG, and AL for their representation of Fury in the TCS All Star Games. All four of you really stood out in that game and it was great to see. Utah and our success was the pinnacle of our season and I don't think the season could have played-out any better.
Two quick items. Our Red Ball Award for the 2008 Season was given to Maria Riedel. Maria, congratulations!!! Your hard work, work ethic, and desire to succeed was awesome. You really helped shore-up our defense. Congratulations on this award and enjoy this award!!! Our Sportsmanship Award went to Carissa Makwinski for her tireless help, commitment, and leadership. All of this without hardly playing any games. Carissa was re-introduced as our team captain before Park City and it is very exciting to have her back with a playing role. Once again, Carissa, you don't know how special you and your role was to this team in 2008.
I would like to finish by saying how proud I am of all 11 players. The thing that set our team apart from all other 12U Travel Teams, is that we started with 11 players and finished the season with "The Same 11 Players." That is incredible, considering our accomplishments as a team and our recognition as a team. Each of you 11 players need to look in the mirror and be proud of your hard work, commitment, individual excellence, and most importantly to be proud of how you came together as a team and will continue to get better as a team. Our upcoming season outlook is very promising and exciting. We are looking forward to moving-up to 14's and we'll see you on the field.
Our team is extremely happy and continuing to endorse Noleana "Woody" Woodard 951-377-3072 as our hitting instructor. Woody, thanks for the offensive clinic before Nationals. Credentials can be found at www.just-softball.com. For lessons, give her a call. Our team is also being assisted on and off the field by Derek Valenzuela and Joe Butler of the Chicago White Sox.
I am very proud of each of you and your contributions to this team. Your play and work-ethic has made all of your coaches proud to coach the 12U On Deck Fury Softball Team!!! Keep up the good work.
Keep up the hard and great work Ladies!!!
