Ontario Masters News
Rumours from 2 anonymous sources have indicated that fireballer Wayne Wells and crafty lefty Mike Crawford won't be eligible to pitch for the Colborne Rutherflo Masters at the O.A.S.A. Masters Championship July 22, 23, 24 in Port Perry Ontario. It seems that Wells and Crawford are attempting to enter a team in the Ontario Senior Eliminations which would make them both ineligible for the Ontario Masters Championship. Colborne Rutherflo are the current # 2 ranked masters team in Ontario. Another rumour has Colborne adding pitcher Rick May to help fill the void of losing Wells & Crawford. Rick May pitches in the Oshawa & District League for the Lake Simcoe Lightning and has some pretty impressive stats. Rick's stats from the Oshawa & District League web site are 3 wins and 1 loss with 59 k's in 35 innings of work and only 1 home run given up. Colborne won't have smooth fielding shortstop Chris Jones at the O.A.S.A.'s but he will be eligible along with Wells and Crawford for the Canadian Masters Championship.
Oshawa Ravens may be without their ace pitcher Blair McBratney, it seems Blair tore up his pitching arm playing hockey and may not be able to pitch this year. Oshawa has added a big stick in Ron Rosengren. Rosey played an awesome 3rd base for the Mississauga Arrows at the recent ISC II qualifier in Innerkip. With the new O.A.S.A. eligibility rules Oshawa has also lost a premier outfielder in Ted Kosciesza.
Kosciesza is playing for the Innerkip Eagles at the Ontario Senior Eliminations and thus is ineligible for O.A.S.A. Masters.
The Waterloo Classics have added pitcher Pete Spitzig from Chepstow / Saugeen Silver as well as a few position players from a couple of different teams. The Stoney Creek Gators added Pete Spitzig as a "pick-up " player at last year's Canadian Masters Championship and Pete had a great tournament.
This news may affect the next edition of the Ontario Masters Rankings due on or about July 4th.
The top 5 teams in the next rankings could look like this ...........

2. Palermo ( Scott & Inglehart )
