Masters teams / players @ ISC II Qualifier
Several masters teams / players participated at the recent ISC II Qualifier in Innerkip Ontario.
The Palermo Athletics finished 2nd and were awarded a berth to the 2005 ISC II Tournament of Champions in Chippewa Falls Wisconsin. Palermo will also be on hand at the OASA Masters Championship in Port Perry. The Athletics are led by ace pitcher Gord Scott and long bomb hitter Glenn Inglehart.
The Ingersoll Masters went 0-2 but it was good to see a full rostered masters team step up and face the toughest intermediate teams in Ontario. Ingersoll has 4 quality pitchers and should make some noise in Port Perry.
The Alvinston Indians compiled a record of 1-2 with all 3 games being decided by one run. The Indians are the current # 1 ranked masters team in Ontario.
The Bridgeport Braves also had a strong tournament placing 3rd and featured several masters players from the Waterloo Classics including Mike Kelly, Rick Boyd and Slammin’ Sammy Forbes.
The Niagara Snappers won the qualifier and earned an automatic berth to Wisconsin.
Dan Duemo ( age and uniform # are 41 ) opened up the tournament for the Snappers tossing a perfect game against the Ingersoll Masters. Dan picked up 12 k’s in the 6 inning mercy shortened game. Dan led the Stoney Creek Gators Masters to the silver medal at the 2004 Canadian Masters Fastball Championship and was named 2nd team All – Canadian.
