Final Ontario Masters Rankings for 2004
Here are the final Ontario Masters rankings for 2004.
Current rankings listed first followed by previous rankings in
brackets.

1.    (4)    Colborne Rutherflo - " No-brainer " after going undefeated to
win the
Canadian Masters Fastball Championship and with a pitching staff of Wayne
Wells,
Mike Crawford, Randy Fife and Rob Finucan. Also had short stop Chris Jones
at
Canadians. Went 6-0 to win Canadian Championship but it was not easy as they
had 4 one run victories and a two run victory. Also finished 2nd at Ontario
Masters
Championship and won several intermediate tournaments this summer.

2.    (3)    Stoney Creek Gators - Silver Medalists at the Canadian Masters
Championship,
finished 4th at Ontario's and finished 2nd at Waterloo Blast tourney in May.
Defeated Ontario Champions, Alvinston Indians at Canadians.
Have never failed to play on Sunday since their inception in 1999 and add a
Canadian Silver medal
to the 2 Gold medals from 2002 ( Ontario & Eastern Canadian Champions ) Had
strongest
roster ever at Canadians and gave Colborne a real run for their money in all
3 games. Pitching
staff included Rod Fevreau, Glenn Inglehart, Pete Spitzig and Dan Duemo and
top hitters
Doug Levy and Brian Prowse.

3.    (8)    Alvinston Indians - Finished 3rd at Canadians after winning the
Ontario
Championship as a first year masters team. Led by workhorse pitcher Doug
Charlton who
pitched 6 of 7 games at Canadians. Great hitting team and beat favoured
Colborne team
with pitcher Wayne Wells in Gold medal game at Ontario Championship.

4.    (6)    Cold Springs Cats - Won Bronze medal at Ontario's and finished
2nd in North Bay.
Led by pitcher Gary Vowles. Declined to go to Canadian Championship in
favour of North Bay tourney.

5.    (2)    Oshawa Ravens - Could not repeat as Ontario Champions and
finished tied for 5th.
Declined to go to Canadian Championship and went to North Bay tourney to try
and defend their title
which they had won 3 years in a row. Lost out to Cold Springs in quarter
finals in North Bay.

6.    (1)    Waterloo Classics - Won Waterloo Blast tourney for 3rd straight
year in May.
Looked very good at Ontario's in Port Perry but did not advance to playoff
rounds. Looked extremely strong
at Canadian's and were perfect 3-0 in round robin, lost next 2 games to
Stoney Creek and Alvinston
to finish 5th at Canadians. This team does NOT have to change a single
thing, they have all the parts just
have to find a way to win at the big tournaments.

7.    ( - )    Ottawa / ??? - Not sure of name as no details available form
North Bay tourney but won the tournament
by beating Cold Springs Cats. Should step up and enter the Ontario Masters
Championship.

8.    ( - )    Sudbury - Lost in semis to Cold Springs at North Bay.

9.    ( - )    Orillia - Lost to Cold Springs in North Bay, good pitching
from Bill Michell.
Should step up to Ontario Championship in 05.

10.    ( 5 )    Minesing - 2nd year team that slipped a little from 03 where
they won the Silver Medal at Eastern Canadians.

As always please don't take these rankings too serious, they are
just for fun and to promote masters team's and their players.
Some possible new teams on the masters scene for 2005 include Palermo,
Waterdown, Fisherville and St. Catharines.
