An overview of CYO Sports and Our Lady of Mount Carmel CYO
As you may know, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia CYO sports program is the largest youth sports program in Southeastern Pennsylvania, with close to 40,000 kids participating in a variety of sports including football, soccer, cross country, volleyball, cheerleading, basketball, track and field, baseball, softball, lacrosse, field hockey and some others. There are close to 250 CYO sports programs throughout the Archdiocese and they are divided into different Regions for scheduling purposes, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel CYO participates in Region 20 CYO, which consists of 12 CYO programs in Central and Upper Bucks County and Central Montgomery County. CYO sports has a long tradition as a well organized, highly competitive organization that also recognizes that providing a fun, safe atmosphere for kids and their parents is a very important part of a successful youth sports program. Kids also perform service projects with their team and give back to their community.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel CYO has been around for over 50 years, and we currently have teams in football (grades 5-8), cheerleading (grades 5-8), girl's volleyball (grades 5-8), cross country (grades 4-8), grade school basketball (grades 4-8), high school basketball (grades 9-12), grade school lacrosse (grades 3-8), track and field (grades 4-8) and high school co-ed volleyball (grades 9-12). We hope to resurrect our soccer, softball and baseball programs soon.
Every kid who is a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish is eligible to play CYO sports. You don't have to attend the parish school to play CYO sports. Most of our athletes attend public school or other private schools. In addition, we invite kids from neighboring parishes to play football, cheerleading, and boy's and girl's lacrosse. Kids in 4th grade to 8th grade can play for their grade school and middle school team and OLMC CYO during the same season (with the exception of football).
If you want to learn more about a specific sport, please click on the "Learn more about the sports we offer" tab on the left side of this page. It will give you more information about each sport and direct you to the person in charge of each sport.

Bulldogs Lacrosse Update (Click here to go directly to www.BulldogsLacrosse.net)
Bulldogs lacrosse is a youth lacrosse program sponsored by the Our Lady of Mount Carmel CYO. We also invite kids from neighboring parishes like Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Jude and St. Martin to participate.
We have both a boy’s and a girl’s lacrosse program. The season begins in early March and runs through early June. The teams generally practice two or three times a week and the games are mostly on the weekends. We practice at various township and school district fields and our home games are at Central Park in Doylestown Township and Bush Park in Buckingham Township. All of our away games are in Southeastern Pennsylvania (mostly in Bucks and Montgomery counties).
We have boy’s teams in 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade, and 7th/8th grade. We generally have two teams in each grade level. We like to have an "A" and a "B" team at each level to make sure that the kids are playing with and against other players with similar skill levels.
In the girl’s program, we have a 2nd grade instructional program, teams in 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade and 7th and 8th grade. Again, we like to have "A" and "B" teams at each level.
We have teams for experienced and inexperienced players. Our program focuses on teaching the kids how to play the game while having fun, and we also prepare the players to play lacrosse in high school and beyond. We want the kids to have a fun experience while also being on a competitive team. We have a lot of great coaches and we encourage the parents to be involved and to get to know each other. Our goal is to have a program that's fun for the kids, the parents and the coaches.
We've had a lot of success on the field as well. In 2007, our boy's 8th grade A1 team was the first lacrosse team from Bucks County to ever win the Championship of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Youth Lacrosse Association (SEPYLA). Our girl's 7th/8th grade team were champions of the Philadelphia Area Girl's Lacrosse Association (PAGLA). Both teams credit the fun they had with their teammates and coaches as one of the things that made them a better team.
