Old Orchard Beach Little League: Mission Statement

We’re excited for another Little League season here in OOB and are committed to making every child’s experience as rewarding as possible by striving to develop the concepts of character, courage and loyalty in every little leaguer.

Parents are a huge part in the development of these concepts and we all need to remember the tenets of “Honoring the Game” by using the acronym ROOTS:  Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates and Self.

We don’t bend the Rules to win; we understand that a worthy Opponent helps us play at our highest potential; we respect Officials even when we disagree with their calls; we refuse to do anything that embarrasses our Teammates; and even if others fail to live up to these standards, we live up to the standards we set for ourSelves.

We all need to commit to Honoring the Game before, during and after every game.  If we do we create an environment where the kids will have fun, keep returning to baseball and softball, and learn the life lessons they'll need long after their Little League careers end.

And…let’s not forget the Little League Pledge:

I TRUST IN GOD

I LOVE MY COUNTRY

AND I WILL REPECT ITS LAWS

I WILL PLAY FAIR

AND STRIVE TO WIN

BUT WIN OR LOSE

I WILL ALWAYS DO MY BEST

PLAY BALL!
