Sr. Aces win one, lose three in Evansville Legion Tournament
The Aces won their opening game on Thursday against Lyon Co Ky on 7-6. Andy Wood pitched 6 strong innings and Jason Sterrett picked up the save by striking out the side in the 7th. Andrew Jones led the hit parade with 3 while Jordan Ellis celebrated his birthday with 2 RBI.
Friday was not so good to the Aces. They lost their first game 7-3 to West O’Fallon, Mo. They generated several hits, but couldn’t seem to put them together to produce more runs. Jordan Ellis and Andy Wood each had two doubles in the loss.
The nightcap saw the Aces fall to the host Eugene Pate post 8-4. After giving up three runs in the first inning, Jason Sterrett pitched strong into the ninth striking out 11. Jacob Wiese and Alex Davidson both enjoyed multi hit games.
Saturday’s final game saw the Aces fall to Manchester, Mo 5-1. The bats went silent with only three hits on the day. The error bug (4) hit hard as well.
