Old Georgetown Swim and Tennis Club: Swim Team
The Old Georgetown Club is happy to offer a competitive summer Swim team to its members. Our team's mission is provide a fun, family-oriented and positive swimming experience for the youth of our community. This environment strives to promote lasting friendships, competitive spirit and the joy of attaining one's personal best!
The OGC Swim Team participates in the Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL). MCSL sponsors competitive swimming and other activities among the swimming pools and organizations in Montgomery County, Maryland. The goals of the program include helping young people establish a love for the sport of swimming, advanced aquatic skills, teamwork, and the principles of good sportsmanship.
REFUNDS If a member wishes to depart the swim team before or during the first week of practice, a full refund (minus processing fee) will be given. After the first week a 50% refund (minus processing fee) will be given. After June 7, 2013, there will be no refunds.

Swim team registration is open! All 2013 OGC members have received an email with a registration link. Deadline for swim team registration: June 7, 2013. NOTE: Do not register pre-team swimmers until after the pre-team tryouts (see below for details).

We are proud to announce that OGC is in swim division C this season.
Practice will start on Tuesday May 28th. See "Team Practices" page for schedules.
Pre-Team: Pre-team evaluations will be held on June 17/18. Sign up for an evaluation spot in the Pre-Team binder at the Club guard house. Pre-team practices start on Thursday, June 20 and end Thursday, July 18.

9:00 am start time. Warmups: 8:15 am for 13 & older; 8:30 am for 12 & under
All swimmers should come to get their official starting times for the season. If you miss this opportunity, you will have to wait to get a time at our B meets in order to contend for a position in the A meets.

To participate in B meets, all swimmers must be registered using the link above by noon on the Tuesday prior to each B meet. Swim Team Volunteer Requirements
The Swim Team could not be successful without parent's participation. As part of the Swim Team registration, families are expected to join 1 Committee and volunteer in 2 meets per family in any Job Signup capacity. If you do not wish to volunteer, a $125 "Opt Out" fee will be assessed. Volunteer hours are being tracked via the Team Unify site and those who do not meet volunteer requirements will be charged the $125 opt out fee at the end of the season. Please note you will not be able to sign up for Swim Team next season until this fee is paid. Only meet officials (Referee, Stroke & Turn Judge and Starter) need to be certified, all other jobs are provided with on the job training. It's easy, fun and your children see you being a part of the team.
Meet your Swim Coaches
Here is the excellent coaching staff for 2013:
Connie Smink - Head Coach Connie began her swimming career at OGC at age 8. She has coached for 45 years, starting when she was 4! Connie has been the head swim coach at OGC for the past 7 years. She also coaches year-round for the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club. Connie currently teaches 4th and 5th grade in the Montgomery County School System.
Danielle Hersh - Assistant Head Coach Danielle is excited to be coming back to coach at OGC for her second year! She has coached for MCSL for 8 years. She also coaches year-round for Nation's Capitol Swim Club. Danielle just finished up her first year teaching 3rd grade in the Montgomery County School System.
Carloine Hagerty - Assistant Head Coach I'm 19 years old and just finished my freshman year at Penn State. I have been a proud member of the OGC Swim and Dive since I was 4. The past few years you may have seen me around the well coaching diving, but this year I've made the switch to the swim team. I'm very excited for this summer and can't wait to get started!
Anna Collishaw Anna is 17, and is very happy to be returning for her 2nd year as an OGC swim coach. She attends Walter Johnson High School, and swims for the Walter Johnson Swim. She has swum for OGC since she was 8, and been involved with swim lessons and coaching the OGC team for 3 years. She is very excited to be coaching at OGC!
Evan Connolly Evan is 16 years old and attends Gonzaga College High School in Washington D.C. He has swum for OGC for eleven years. Evan is a varsity member of the Gonzaga Swim and Dive team. He loves coaching younger children and is looking forward to his second year coaching at OGC!
Cori Caggiano Cori has been a part of the OGC swim team since she joined preteam at age 6. She is now 17 years old, will soon be graduating Walter Johnson High School and with be attending the US Naval Academy. Cori has swam with RMSC when she was younger and for WJ's swim team. She helped coach last summer and loves working with kids. She is very excited to be back coaching again.
Elizabeth Straathof This is Elizabeth's first summer coaching the swim team, although she has been a swimmer on the team since she was 5. Elizabeth, age 16, is a Junior at Walter Johnson HS, swims for the WJ team, and swims competitively year-round with RMSC. Elizabeth loves kids and swimming and can't wait for summer swimming to start!
Alexa Cardoni Alexa, 16, has been a part of the OGC swim team since she was in 3rd grade. This is her first summer coaching, and she is very excited to be part of the OGC swim coaching staff! Alexa is a Junior at Walter Johnson HS, where she swims for the Swim & Dive tam, and is on the Varsity Crew team. She is the oldest of 4 swimmers, so she is the perfect person to handle the pre-team!
