What began as a vision in 1989 with one team, Oklahoma Wind Volleyball, Inc., has grown into as many as 12 registered teams, with players ranging in age from ten to eighteen years of age and playing in six age brackets. Our club has reorganized several times in order to maintain its quick growth. The latest reorganization happened in 1996 when it incorporated under the name Oklahoma Wind Volleyball, Inc. as a 501(c)3 Organization.
Oklahoma Wind Volleyball, Inc. is a member of the OkRVA as well as volleyball’s national organization, USA Volleyball. The national organization has educational and certification requirements for coaches and players. Oklahoma Wind meets those standards and exceeds them by offering additional educational and training opportunities for coaches, players and parents. This strong educational component helps the club meet its purpose of being a professionally run, parent-board directed, organization that seeks to positively impact volleyball in the state of Oklahoma.
One of our foremost goals is to train volleyball players and expose them to the highest level of competition. We at, Oklahoma Wind, work closely with coaches within our club, as well as with those who are not. Our club provides information, as well as training to support them in their coaching endeavors. In addition, we endorse players and parents in our club’s effort in the college recruiting process. A definite benefit of participating in our volleyball club is the exposure received to college coaches.
