Oil-Slicks History
blkgr vball
This is the home web page for the Oil-Slicks. We introduced the Sherwood Park Co-Ed Volleyball Association in 2000. We were initially set-up as a family team. As the years progressed so have we. We continue today to enjoy coming out to volleyball each and every Wednesday night and playing volleyball with our friends. We have now established some great friendships with some of the other teams that we have competed against throughout the years.
Ricochet a.k.a Alotta Nuthin - Stacey, Steph, Marnie and Greg have competed both with us and against us and have proven to be an excellent measuring stick to determine our own progress. As we have gotten better so to have them. we look forward each season to seeing them and playing all season long against each other.
The Misfits - Julie, Ranj, Vince, Nina & Rana have always been great to talk with and play against. it is exciting when Dillon comes out to cheer his mom and dad on. The task is to convince them to come out after volleyball and have a beverage!
Night & Day - Has always played us tough, they are competitors but also enjoy the game for what it is......A GAME! Tammy, Brad, Kevin and Neil have always treated us well and have been excellent to play against.

Officiating Schedule
This season we will have a set schedule for everyone to referee, umpire or score keep games. It will be up to the four of you to decide who will ref/umpire and who will be line judges.
Everyone should have purchased a whistle and have it with you each night.
Four person teams are:

Unit 1
Dave Podlubny
Colleen Schewe
Jerry Hradecki
Lindsay Burke

Unit 2
Cam Tordoff
Matt Schewe
Heather Beier
Glynis Jackson

**My encouragement for everyone will be that each of you takes turns doing each of the three spots. Especially during league play it will help you gain confidence in your officiating skills. The subs will fill in for whom they are replacing that particular night. The remaining team that is not officiating that night will be responsible for assisting with the set-up and take down of the nets and to scorekeep.

Current Schedule:

January 9    - Unit #1
January 16   - Unit #2
January 23   - no volleyball
January 30   - no volleyball
February 6   - Unit #1
February 13 - Unit #2
February 20 - Unit #1
February 27 - Unit #2
March 5      - Unit #1
March 12    - Unit #2
March 19    - Unit #1
March 26    - Unit #2

Year End Tourney & Year End Wind-up
The 2006-2007 season is almost underway, and already the league executive is getting ready for their annual year end wind up party. The date is tentatively scheduled for April 30. I know that our team is looking forward to this event as well as many of the teams that we play against. It is a great night and one that cannot be missed.
This year the new executive is thinking of changing the venue for the wind-up.
Possible Options:
Boston Pizza
Hall Party
Please let me know what you think is a good place to host this celebration.
I will forward your comments on to the executive.
