Ohio Prospects League: Welcome

 MANDATORY OPL FALL COACHES MEETING: The Ohio Prospects League has three mandatory coaches meetings.  The fall coaches meeting times and locations are as follows:  

OPL 18u Division:  Saturday, October 11th at 3 PM at Residence Inn in Independence

OPL 15u-16u Division:  Saturday, October 11th at 1 PM at Residence Inn in Independence

OPL 14u Division:  Saturday, October 4th at 10:45 AM at Lakeland Community College

OPL 13u Division:  Saturday, October 4th at 9:00 AM at Lakeland Community College

 

Team Registration Still Open 14u-18u!!!  If you have a quality team and are looking for good competition, the Ohio Prospects League is still taking applications for 2015. Many of the top organizations from Northeast Ohio are members of the OPL.  For 15u-18u, teams play 12-14 league games while at 14u, teams will play 15-18 game season.  If you have had a younger team and are now wondering where did all the quality teams go, this is where they are.  Please email jmeng0@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in joining the OPL.

 

The Ohio Prospects League's 2014 18U Division All Star Team goes 1-1 at the 2014 Pony Baseball "Battle of the Stars" All Star event at Bob Cene Park in Youngstown Ohio 7/22/2014. In the first game they beat the Youngstown, Ohio Class 'B' 18U All Star team team 5-3 and in the second game they lost to the Diamond League 18U Connie Mack Division All Stars 10-2. An 18U All Star team from the greater Pittsburg area the Quad City All Stars also participated in the event. Congratulations to the 2014 18U Division Ohio Prospects League All Stars !!!

Please remember for the 14U-18U Divisions the league follows OHSAA rules.  Therefore bats must have the BBCOR certification on them or they are considered illegal.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY AND UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE !!!

The BBCOR decertification process has been implemented on the following bats: REEBOK VECTOR TLS-33" - MARUCCI CAT-5 33" LENGTH

These bats may have the BBCOR stamp on them, But they have been ruled illegal by the OHSAA!!!!

 Please Note: 13U - 12U Division Teams

For the 13U-12U Divisions ** bats must have a bpf of 1.15 or less and the diameter must not be larger than 2 5/8 inches, Field playing distance for 13U is 54’ 80’ and 50' 70' for 12U.

CONCUSSION LAW: According to the law, amateur youth sport organizations are required to make their coaches more aware of concussions including concussion training. Here is a link to the NFHS website for a free seminar on Concussion Awareness that will satisfy the new Ohio law. http://www.nfhslearn.com/electiveDetail.aspx?courseID=38000 It is a free seminar that lasts about 20 minutes. You will first need to get a username and password for the site (also free) and then sign up for the seminar. You will be able to watch and listen to the seminar right on the computer

Parents/Players:  Please be aware of rule #12A):
Once a player signs an Ohio Prospects League contract for a team for a given season, he is
committed to that team for that season. Players can be released by the head coach of that team by submitting by email or fax to the Ohio Prospects League offices. If a player is released, he may be picked up by another team in the Ohio Prospects League until June 30th. After June 30th, no player released from league teams can be picked up by another team in the OPL.
