Want to be the best ! Here's how.
divegif.gif
One thing the best players always have in common is a good work ethic. They work hard at what ever they are doing. They work hard, even at the skills they are the best in - that's how they became the best. Have you noticed that they have fun at games and practice? They are winners, they know it and you know it. Look at them closely at practice they are serious about learning and developing good form and skill. They won't quit until the have it mastered. Why do they work so hard? I will share something with you it is a secret - so don't tell anyone else. They work hard because they are addicts, no not drugs, they are addicted to winning. There is no room for losing at anything, they have to have it. Is winning everything - Yes! I know people will say Coach has lost is mind, but it is everything. The best are winners as individual's but We can only win as a team. If you want to be the best, the things I know for sure is - you must want it, you must have faith in yourself and your team, you must be committed and you must be addicted to winning. I have revealed the secret to becoming the best at anything, don't tell anyone please. Remember that when you believe in something, no other proof is needed. -Faith The Heat...

State of Mind
If you think you are beaten, you are; if you think you dare not, you don't. If you like to win, but think you can't, it's almost a cinch you won't. If you think you'll lose, you're lost; for out in the world we find success begins with a person's will; it's all in the state of mind. If you think you're outclassed, you are; you've got to think high to rise, you've got to be sure of yourself before you can win the prize. Life's battles don't always go to the stonger or faster person; but sooner or later the person who wins is the one who thinks they can. Author Unknown

Commitment verses being involved! Which are you?
It is not OK to miss practice! The time has come to show either commitment or involvement. I will tell you that involvement won't make it! What's the diference? Its like a Bacon & Egg Breakfest, The Chicken is involved & the Pig is committed to it. We are in the business of helping SOFTBALL players make it to the college level. We have been very good at this the last 3 years. You need proof - all of our players have gone on to play college ball. They did this because they were committed to the team, organization and sport. They practiced and worked hard at all scheduled training. They did not call up the morning of practice to say "Hey I won't be their cause I have Space Camp Today". If your intentions are to play here then I strongly recommend to make it to scheduled activities! We are a softball organization with softball players being our sole focus! We are not interested in AAU Basketball, SoJO Volleyball, Soccer, Bluebirds meeting etc., call them in the morning telling them about SOFTBALL. If you don't feel you can do that, then just maybe... Your not a SOFTBALL PLAYER becuase your heart's desire is somewhere else! That is OK! as you must do what your heart tells you too! Effective immediately players who miss a practice un-excused will sit out 1 game. If you miss two you will sit out 3 games. If you miss three your roster spot will be re-evaluated. If you do not provide 24 hour notice you will sit out 2 games in addition to the above penalties. If you are a no show! you will sit out 5 games. If you have an emergency that prevented 24 hour notice, it will review at the club level, after verification. Anyone wishing to discuss these conditions & effects, please feel free to do so, BEFORE a disciplinary action is imposed. Hopefully, these conditions will again make us the 1st priority with the involved players & they will return to the ranks of the committed.

2003 Ohio Heat / Revolution
Revolution takes 3rd.
The Heat has great time in Florida!

The Revolution brought home the third place hardware for the 2003 Fastpitch Festival. The Disney Complex was pack with teams from across the country for this annual event. The only team able to contain the Revolution was national powerhouse Virginia Legends. The Revolution played a good game scoring 2 runs (the most given up by the Legends) but was straped by several errors during both games. The tournament was also attended by several other noted national powerhouses in the Tampa Wildcats and Pennbury Gems etc. The final standings was 1.Virginia Legends, 2.Tampa Wildcats, 3.Ohio Heat Revolution, 4.Pennbury Gems. Erin Willeke, Michelle Logan and Hillary Skrabacz received MVP awards during the event with several other receiving honorable mentions.

The Heat 12U team has played some great ball and learned a ton of stuff. This new team is begining to play as a team and has made some great improvements over the weekend. We look for great things from our 12s in the near future.

Both teams played hard and displayed great sportsmanship on and off the field. We are VERY PROUD of each of our young ladies!

Great Job - Coaches I feel you all did an outstanding job of instructing, planning and providing guidance this weekend.

Remember these always:
1. Take Care of Business! (TCB)
2. Attitude is everything!
3. Champions are MADE - not born!
4. Play for Keeps - Play to WIN!
5. Nobody remembers 2nd Place.
6. You are the BEST!
7. To beat us, you must beat all of US!
8. Never let down - No Mercy!
9. You are part of a great organization!
10. Defend our proud history, reputation and honor!

USFA World Series
The Revolution arrived in Florida with a vengance beating Carolina Fear and Houston Ice and then knocked off national powerhouse and Florida State Champion Shogun 3-1 in 7 innings. Ashley Hensley celebrated her 18th birthday by crushing a 2 run homer over the center field fence. The Ohio Heat teams have faced some of the best teams in the country and have played ball to ball with many of them. We are proud of all of our players and teams for representing Ohio well here at the USFA Nationals. More to follow.

PAPA HEAT "LUAU CHAMP"
Papa Heat continued his winning ways even while on vacation in Hawaii. Stunning the crowd at Germaine's Luau with his gyrating hips and enticing moves, wooing the fans to vote him #1. We are sure it had nothing to do with him wanting to please his vivacious instructor!!

USSSA Winter World National Championship
The Revolution was defeated twice by the Klash from MI. This is a very hard thing to accept as a team due to the fact the both losses came from unearned runs at our own hands. We went into battle without our normal middle field and missing one of our highest on-base percentage players in addition to missing two starters due to College. We took along two 15yr olds to fill in and they played to the upmost of their abilities. We held our heads high as we battled for the win. We ended in the final four and was placed in 4th below a team we beat due reasons unknown. I wish to personally thank all of our fans who showed such great support for our team. The Revolution is currently ranked 1st in the Ohio Poll and 10th Nationally by USSSA.

I want to announce and congratulate Ashley Hensley for accepting and verbally committing to Manatee Community College (Fl) and full ride athletic scholarship for softball. Ashley is a 4 year Heat Player.

I am also pleased to announce that Michelle Logan has accepted and verbally committed to Northern Kentucky University (Ky) an athletic scholarship to play softball and will possibly be a two sport athlete with the basketball team. Michelle is a 4 year Heat Player

I spoke to the Head Coach at Capital University and have learned that Linsay Shepherd will commit to the crusaders for the 2004 season. She is a great player and will no doubt be a help for this nationally ranked DIII school.

The Revolution is currently working with several colleges and Universities in placing the remaining 4 seniors into scholarship positions and expects to reach 100% placement of eligible players.

Heat suffers loss of #1 Fan!

The Heat lost a great supporter this morning with the passing of Carol Schutte. Carol was the grandmother of Cassey and Kiley and Mark's mother. She loved her family and was always the first to offer her help or lend support, to anyone. She will be laid to rest Tuesday in Springfield with Friends and Family visitation Tuesday from 9-11am at Jones, Kennedy and Zuckman funeral home.

Memorial contribution can be made in her name to the Clark County Humane Society, as she was a true lover of animals. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

Ohio Heat revamps and grows stronger for 2003!

The 2002 season is almost over and for many other teams, has been over since last week. I want to reflect back at 2002 and then talk of 2003.

The Ohio Heat played more games on average than ever before, with numerous tournament win's during the season. We developed a field and training complex that will be completed during the fall.

The 2003 season will bring with it many changes, more good than bad. We will play a schedule even more demanding than this years. We have devised a financing plan that will allow our players to play without any cost, if they work the plan. All players will be issued new uniforms that will now belong to them, along with names and numbers they request. Team members will also pick the style of uniform they want to play in.

We will have several changes in Coaches, I can assure you that We have commitment's from highly respected and more experienced coaches who will take over leadership of these teams. They are extremely loyal to the programs direction and have qualifications that are beyond reproach. We will have some players who will leave with the replaced coaches, however many will stay. We have already received requests from previous players who left and now want to return. We will look at them during tryouts and welcome back the ones who make the cut.

The Ohio Heat will be stronger in 2003 than ever before in it's history. We have received numerous request's for tryout information from top athlete's currently with other teams and programs.

I want effected players to think about what they want from softball and if we have met your needs. Talk to the other players who have left and came back or want too. Look at the record or history of the coach/team you are thinking of joining and ask "Do they compare with the Ohio Heat's". Ask the coach/team how successful they were before joining the Ohio Heat? Did they win anything? Ask how did you get your players etc.

I want you to ask yourself, How did I come to play with the Ohio Heat? Why did I come?
If you answer those questions and the answer points that you should leave. We wish you well and thank you for all that you contributed to our teams. I feel many will honestly say there is no way I'm leaving.

I recently was told of some gripes about uniforms. We replaced every uniform that a coach said he needed replace this year. Our teams still looked better than 90% of the teams we played. They surely beat the T-shirt's (type uniforms) that some of our players had worn before joining the Ohio Heat.

In closing, The Ohio Heat is one of the biggest clubs in the State, with a well deserved and known reputation for fielding great teams, this will continue and grow larger in 2003 and beyond. One other point to be made-every team that qualified for a World Series in 2002 will play in it.

Please feel free to contact me to answer questions or for comments.

Ohio Heat Results

16 Black qualifies for the USSSA "A" World Series.

The 16 Black team has continued their winning ways, by placing 2nd at the 8th Beavercreek Challange. They have proven without a doubt that they are as good as anyone and have shown they will fight until the last out of the last inning.

Remember - If we are not learning we are not growing, and if we are not growing we are dying.

The 14u teams is making news again with their 3rd place finish at Beavercreek. The play with great emotion and pride as they played to their best ability.

The 12u team took 1st at North Lewisburg playing teams as always with grit. They are hitting and making the plays to prove they are the real deal.

You are the best and We appreciate all your hard work and effort.

The pre-season polls are closed at USA Sport Rankings, the nations largest independent ranking company, and the 16 Black team is ranked 11th in the nation. The Ohio Heat was also ranked 1st in the State - tied with the Maddogs of Alliance, Ohio. It is a great honor to be associated with them as they have established themselves as one of the best teams in the USA. The Ohio Heat was the only OHIO team at 16u to be ranked nationally. We believe this is do to our playing now on a multi-state level with tournament's and scheduling of only "A" NIT games across America. Congrats Ladies and now you must keep it!

10u and 12u girls mix it up and return to the old ways.
The Ohio Heat 10u and 12u team have been working out together for the last few weeks. They are excited, determined, mostly committed to their teams and coaches. It was a wonderful thing to experience as I looked into their eyes and could see they really loved being there. They knew they were honored to be a part of something bigger than any one player/person. I believe we sometimes lose sight of how lucky we our to be a part of this organization. It was founded on pride and respect - We lost some of both over the last few years. I am happy to see it return to stay. We have started across the organization to rebuild our respect and commitment to each other, our team's and the organization. We will not bend in our determination to grow and become the best program around. Thank you young ladies for reminding us what really matters - a desire to learn, the respect to listen, and the courage to win.

The Heat

Ohio Heat is 8-1 in USSSA Fall League.
The Ohio Heat Fall league team is currently 8-1. The players are from several of our teams along with some new faces joining our family for 2002. We have played several different combination's of defensive teams and have been outstanding with all of them. Great Job...... Heat !

Tuesday, December 4
We are an "A" team organization and we play "A" ball !
This article has offended several teams and I have received several e-messages to tell me about it. This letter has brought awareness that our site is very popular within the fastpitch community. I will stand by our belief that "A" teams should play "A" teams. This is the spirit of the Classification System, even though the rules allow certain "A" teams to play at "B" events. I have been told that "We will see you on the field". I think I can speak for everyone on this issue. The Heat will face anyone on the field and have proven this by playing teams such as Invasion Cal., Excell, WV Diamond Dusters, Strikkers, Cal. Babes, NY Dynamite, TC Temours, Wildthings, Lasers, Maddogs, Ohio Ice, Indy Magic, Carmel Sting, etc. These are some of the national powerhouses of fastpitch. We will play the best teams we can find and we will become stronger for it. This is our way.....

It was not my intention to offend or downgrade the teams that do not share this belief. I wish them luck in the future and
hope they win every weekend!

The Heat....

What some teams won't do to win! I recently saw a team jacket that says 2001 National Champions, What was missing from it was the "B". These A team's went to B world series and beat mostly ill equipped teams with "B" athlete's (League type) to win. However, most people will see their jackets and say -"WOW! what an achievement". Most "A" teams will see their jackets and say, I wonder how they would have done against other "A" teams.

We are an "A" team organization and we will look for tournaments that will challenge us to win. We will not pick tournaments where we know we are the best team there, just so we can get a article in the paper or win a meaningless trophy. What some teams won't do to win.

This is why we have continued to grow and have become stronger than these teams. They may be in the paper every week boasting another tournament win, however they will not be gaining the expirence or exposure we have. We do not have to try and steal players, as teams try and do ours. The athletes these type teams get from us are the ones that are not wanting to be challenged, they are the ones that probably won't play at the next level, they are the ones looking for the easy win.

We are an "A" team that will play "A" ball and work hard to win. However when we collect that trophy it will mean something special to us forever.

We will not be a team looking for an easy way to the winner's circle - Why? because our pride would not allow us to travel that path. All four of our 2001 18u HS Seniors are now playing at the College level, now that's something to boast about....

The Heat....

10u and 18u place in Major Event's
The Mini-Heat continues to expand it's hardware collection by placeing second in the Harrison NIT and captured a USSSA World series birth in the process. They are playing with confidence and never believe they will be beaten. It is a fine tradition they have started and hopefully it's will spread across team lines. It's amazing what you can do when you believe you can...

The 18u team has been playing above their level for the last two weeks, this week playing 18 Gold. They played hard enough to place 3rd. Not bad for a 18u A team playing against some elite Gold team's. Both team's get a big Kudo's.

Great Job ladies.......

Ohio Heat 10u - Region 9 Champions - CALF. Bound
The Heatlits are the 2001 Regional Champions and have qualified for the "Big Show" Yeh that's right...ASA National's in Moreno, CA.

This is what it is all about. Only 122 teams in the world will qualify for the national's and you all have done it. Great Job.....

Papa Heat

Heat make a show of it at World Series in Tennessee.
The Heat moved into the Gatlinburg area on a mission, after overtaking the Smokey Shadows Hotel. The hotel was established firmly as Heat HQ and after 2 days the staff were talking like yankee's and we all had drawssssssss.    Well Mark always has a draw.
We started off pool play with 4 victory's in the first 6 games, not bad. We continued to make our present felt by keeping the pressure on the other teams there with breath taking fan support from the largest group there. Yeh ! now that's showing heart Heat. The rumour was We were sponsered by General Motors - Hee Hee. We were standing strong against everyone, the locals, the SSAA umpires (if you can call them umpires) and the enviroment. The sun was beating down with temps in the 90's, Who show's up where'n Black - You Know! The Heat likes it Hot and we showed everyone that for sure. We intend to return next year and finish our mission of winning titles in all age groups. We are now known throughout the South, after placing 3 out of 6 teams in the top 10, along with a 6th place finish at 16u.

Great Job ladies.......... The Heat

Ohio Heat 16u Green teams plays around the clock in Indy!
The Heat had to reverse their lives this weekend in Indy turning night into primetime Fastpitch time. Their first game was 3:30am on Saturday morning. Most of the parents and fans were shocked to find out they even moved at that time. They accomplished many objectives this weekend as they discovered new friends and teammates. Coach Jay became a headcoach for the first time and adapted well to the situation. Great Job ladies....

Ohio Heat 18u team invited to Tournament of Champions
The Ohio Heat 18u is the only team to represent OHIO in Tournament Of Champions Showcase in Endicott NY. Wow! What an honor to take the field against these nationally known teams.

Go Heat................................

Ohio Heat 16u Black makes impression on 18u teams!
The Ohio Heat Black team turns some heads at Sportzone 18u event. The Heat's underdog 16u team controlled the game against the nationally respected Indiana Shockwaves 18u team. The Shockwave's tied the game on a Heat error only to find themselves on the brink of defeat again when the Heat placed a runner in scoring position with 2 minutes remaining. The game ended in a tie after a base running error. However the Ohio Heat Black team gained the respect most of the 18u national powerhouses there. The Ohio Maddogs playing in the opposite bracket and eventual tournament winner, made the comment that they expected us to play them for the Championship. Wow! that comment coming from 25th ranked 18Gold team in the World, really made our day. We also received praise from the coaches of the Indy Storm 18u who stated that we were the best 16u team they have seen. I would like to thank them all for there comments and our great players. You stepped up and gained respect from everyone there. Great Job!

The Heat sends three to Sidney on Team USA !
The Ohio Heat is proud to annouce and wish them victory to three of our team members who are representing us with a USA Team in Sidney. The are Missy Woodward, Brandi Steiner and Jacklyn Wick. We know they will do well utilizing their heads up play and talent to help the USA bring Home Gold.

Congrats you make us proud !
