SAFETY PLAN REQUIREMENTS
MANDATORY THIS YEAR...ALL OF OUR DISTRICT ONE LEAGUES MUST HAVE A SAFETY PLAN AND SUBMIT IT TO LL HEADQUARTERS! IF YOU NEED HELP PLEASE CONTACT OUR SAFETY OFFICER TODD TULINO! THE SAFETY PLANS ARE DUE BY MAY 1ST!!!!

Requirement 1
Make sure your league has an individual named as Safety Officer

Requirement 2
Compile all the materials following into a booklet and give to volunteers, parents

Requirement 3
Post and distribute emergency numbers

Emergency Plan (examples for Emergency Contact phone list, site map and emergency procedures)

Requirement 4
Require Volunteer Applications and Background Checks
Background checks (explains what requirement is and why necessary to protect children)
Volunteer badges (example of way to make sure volunteers have been checked)
Check for crimes too (article about using rapsheets.com to check volunteers)
Volunteer Application (2006 Little League Volunteer Application Form)
Oct-Dec ASAP (ASAP News issue dedicated to background checks, giving state by state info)

Requirement 5
Provide coaches and managers with fundamentals training
Al and Al training (examples of training needed for fundamentals portion of requirements)
Michele Smith conditioning (techniques for conditioning)
Michele Smith stretching (techniques for stretching)

Requirement 6
Require training in first-aid for coaches
First Aid Clinic Outline (outline from EMTP program for giving first aid training)
First Aid Kits (tells league what well-stocked kit should include)

Requirement 7
Require field inspections before games and practices
HeyCoach (poster reminding of need to check facility before playing begins)
Umpire Guidelines (card for umpires to make sure field is checked before playing begins)

Requirement 8
Complete Annual Little League Facility Survey
Facility Survey (explains how Facility Survey should be used annually to check for problems)

Requirement 9
Have written safety procedures for concession stand
Concession safety (food handling essentials guideline)
Barbeque Safety (maintenance and proper use of barbeque grills and cooking guidelines)
Wash Hands (poster for restroom reminding of need to keep hands clean)

Requirement 10
Require regular inspection and replacement of equipment
Safety Procedures (several guidelines for coaches prior to games/practices)

Requirement 11
Have a method to report, track injuries
Accident Notification and Tracking (guidelines for AIG Accident Notification Form and ASAP Injury Tracking sheet)

Requirement 12
Provide teams with well equipped First Aid Kits
First Aid Kits (tells league what well-stocked kit should include)

Requirement 13
Enforce the rules
Code of Conduct (Coaches expectations, not signed, just set)
Don't Swing (poster reminding players to leave bats down until up to plate)
Lightning Safety flyer (NOAA flyer for coaches on lightning facts, safety)
Mower safety (poster for equipment sheds, etc.)
Players Catch (reminder on rule against adults catching players)
Safety Code (general reminder of conduct rules for players and adults)
Safety Procedures (several guidelines for coaches prior to games/practices)
Volunteer Conduct (Volunteer Code of Conduct for coaches to sign)
