As the 2011 O.C.R.A season comes to a close, the players and coaches have just one thing on their minds, ALL-STARS. Every year at the conclusion of the season a team is picked in each age division for competitive tournament play. This team is decided by all head coaches submitting a number of names to be considered to be part of this team. The final 12 players to be placed on the roster are decided by the ALL-Star coach under guidance of the league directors. Parents must understand that being placed on an All-Star team means certain financial obligations follow. The All-Star tournament season consists bascically of TWO possible tournaments, The District tournament and the State tournament. Depending on how well the team does in the District tournament, dictates the team's birth to the State tournament. These two tournaments normally take place during the months of June and July. Along with the two tournaments comes MANY practices leading up to the tournaments. Because of the short period of time alotted, it is most important that each and every player and parent understand the obligations that come with being chosen. For the players, many practices and summertime scarifices will have to be made. The parents must be prepared for some travel and food expenses as well as possible lodging expenses that come with being part of an All-Star team. All in All it is a major confidence building experience where memories and friendships are made that can last a lifetime.

Gabe Greseth, the 11 year old sultan of swat, has placed an exclamation point on who owns the O-Zone sandlot. In an 11-1 victory Wednesday night, Florida Second Call's goto Hitman placed two well aimed shots over the fence. The first a solo bomb that was later picked up in the Fort Drum area and a rocket grandslam rivaled only by a NASA launch. Greseth now leads the O-Zone league in Home Runs with FOUR passing up Jared Joyner who claims THREE. The Second Callers face league leaders LUBETECH on Monday night. The Greasers of LUBETECH go into Monday nights game with a 9-1 record with SECOND CALL trailing 4 games out of first place. Hicks' Sticks are just 2 games behind second place team LOUTHAN RANCH who is 2 games out of first place behind LUBETECH.

Tuesday, April 5
Florida Second Call under direction of Bryant Hicks and Brian Greseth beat first place contender Louthan Ranch in O-Zone play by a score of 7-2. Florida Second Call started the game as the underdog but before time ran out would prove to be top dogs of the evening. After  a Saturday win of 2-1 over Top contender Lubetech, the Ranch hands take a huge hit in the standings and drop to a dead tie with the Second Call boys for 4th place. The O-Zone league continues to be a  tight race with Lubetech , Domers and Dale Smith Farms sitting on top with Louthan Ranch and Florida Second Call knotted up in the 4 spot. The Teez to Pleez team brings up the rear and will be looking for their first win Thursday night when they take on the Greazers of Lubetech.

Monday, April 4
Jared Joyner made his O-zone League debut on Monday night and announced his arrival in full force. Joyner joined Dale Smith Farms to make his O-zone start under the guidance of Coach Brent Stuart. Jared quickly turned the crowd on its ear by banging two Home Runs in two consecutive at bats. Joyner now leads the O-Zone league in Homeruns with Gabe Greseth and injured Barron Stuart close behind. Joyner was added to the team to fill the shoes of Barron Stuart who suffered a broken ankle last week. Stuart is expected to have a 6-8 week recovery time. Jared Joyner will take over the pitching role that Stuart occupied on the Dale Smith Farms team. Expect BIG things to come from this young 11 year old player.
