Welcome to Ocosta HS Soccer!

Ocosta High School is located in Westport, Washington. 2011 was our 12th season of girls' soccer. We are a 2B school that plays in the 1A Evergreen League in Southwest Washington against schools that are as large as three times our size. We have a strong post-season tradition, including eight district playoffs, seven district championship games, five district championships, two state quarterfinal appearances, and one state final four appearance.

We have had one Wendy's Heisman State Winner, two Wendy's Heisman State Finalists, seven all state players and twelve WIAA/Seattle Times State Player of the Week recipients.

Third TIme First Team All-State for Two Wildcats

Ocosta seniors Emily King and Jenny Benn were named to the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association All-State Soccer Team for the third year in a row. The pair led the Wildcats to a District Championship and the state quarterfinals. King led the team in scoring for the fourth year in a row while Benn remained the catalyst of the Wildcat's defense.

Emily King Named Wendy's Heisman State Winner



            Here is the press release announcing the Washington winners for Wendy's High School Heisman.

            As the competition narrows for the 2011 Wendy's High School Heisman Award program, two of Washington's top scholar-athletes were announced today as State Winners for the prestigious award. These winners are now in the running to become National Winners, the next phase of the program.

            Of the 48,000 seniors who applied nationwide, 477 applicants came from Washington and were narrowed down to the state's 20 finalists. These finalists embody the Heisman spirit of hard work and dedication through their outstanding achievements in athletics, academics and community/school leadership. From the list of twenty finalists, two were selected for one of the highest awards available for high school students

Washington’s Wendy’s High School Heisman State Winners:

Emily King, Ocosta Jr-Sr High School, Westport

David Nguyen, Hudson’s Bay High School, Vancouver

            Just as the collegiate Heisman is known for being the highest award in college football, the Wendy's High School Heisman, now in its 18th year, is one of the most esteemed awards at the high school level.

            Of the 50 male and 50 female State Winners, 12 will be chosen as National Finalists and will go on to compete for the National Winner title in New York City on Dec. 9. National Finalists will be featured during a televised ceremony on ESPN networks and will receive gold medals and $2,000 awards for their high schools. One male and one female National Winner will receive a Wendy's High School Heisman trophy and Wendy's will donate $10,000 to each winner's respective high school. Additionally, the winners will be recognized during the collegiate Heisman Trophy broadcast on ESPN, Dec. 10.

            King was selected for her long list of athletic accomplishments, academic success, and school/community service. Her accomplishments:

School Records Broken



Emily King has broken the school record for goals scored and game winning goals, both formerly set by her sister, Stephanie in 2004. Emily broke the old goals scored record of 80 with 95, and has passed the game winning goals record of 18 with 22. She also tied her sister's records for most penalty kicks attempted and made, converting 7 of 10, broke her sister's record of 348 shots with 355, and broke her sister's points record of 189 with 207.

McKenzy Powers has the career saves record with 554. Emily Woolsey set the previous mark of 509 in 2008.

Jenny Benn broke the record of 72 games played with 75. Kelsey McGowen had the old record set in 2004.

King, Powers Again Named State Athlete of the Week



Two Wildcats have earned WIAA/Seattle Times State 2B Female Athlete of the Week recognition. This was the fourth year in a row for King and the second year in a row for Powers.

All Decade Team Honored

The all decade team from 2000-2009 has been selected. The all decade team was honored at a halftime ceremony on September 17, 2011 when the Wildcats defeated the Concrete Lions in a non-league game.

Rissy Ness Named Assistant Coach

Rissy Ness is the new assistant soccer coach. She has experience coaching U-8 through U-14 teams and played youth soccer through U-12. Ness also played on two state tournament basketball teams for the Wildcats. A 1999 graduate, Ness is married to assistant football coach Cameron Ness and the mother of three girls.
