Updates on Player Safety

Hello everyone, we're less than a month away from the start of practice and we'd like to update you on the some very important news regarding player safety. In the last couple of years, the Board of Directors has placed a priority on player safety. With your assistance, we've purchased 200 top rated helmets for use this season. Coaches have placed an increased emphasis on proper form tackling a...nd we've attended clinics on concussion awareness and treatment.

We're very excited to announce a partnership with Aurora Hospitals that will provide us with an on-site certified athletic trainer for all home games as well as on Mondays at practice for follow up if needed for the next 3 seasons! Aurora is generously providing this service at no cost to us. We're very fortunate that Tyler Siltie has been the trainer chosen to work with us. Tyler has many years of experience working with young athletes and will be supporting the athletes of OYF with dedication and skill. In addition to his services, Aurora will be offering a no fee baseline concussion evaluation for all our players and cheerleaders (more info to come!). We're extremely pleased to have the support of Aurora for this endeavor and we'd like to thank Gregg Thelen and Chad Eberhardt for doing the legwork on this!
