Oconomowoc Volleyball Club: Staff

Director/Coach Michelle Bruss

Michelle grew up in Oconomowoc and is currently living in Hartford with her husband. She did play Division 1 volleyball for Trinity International University in Deerfield, IL and has been coaching for 5 years now. She spent 1 year as the freshman coach at Lake Country Lutheran High School, before coming to Oconomowoc where she spent 2 years as the JV coach for OHS and just finished her third year as the Varsity coach. This will be her fifth year as the 14’s coach with the Oconomowoc Volleyball Club and has been our Director for the past four. Outside of coaching Michelle works at a local Oconomowoc school working with 6th grade Special Ed and loves it. She also enjoys playing doubles volleyball outside of the coaching season and misses playing basketball, so she plays whenever possible. She is also fixing up her new house with her husband and loves spending lots of time with family, especially her nieces and nephew.

Andie Hoffart

Andie is originally from Norfolk, NE but moved to Oconomowoc at age 13. She has played volleyball at OHS, Wisconsin Heat VBC, SAVE Select VBC, and at UW-Waukesha. Andie has been coaching for nine years. In the past she has coached at Oconomowoc High School for a total of five seasons, three as the Freshman Coach, and two as the Junior Varsity coach. This will be her eighth season with the Oconomowoc Volleyball Club and has coached at the 12’s, 13’s, and 14’s levels. Andie works as a Licensed Account Manager for an Insurance Agency and enjoys running, playing volleyball whenever possible, and trying new things as well as spending time with friends and family.

Scott Kalien

Scott grew up in Medford, MN and went to school at Iowa State. He has lived in Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Scott has been playing volleyball in leagues since 1986. Scott has been coaching on and off since 1994 for several clubs in West Lafayette, IN, Peoria, IL and Watertown, WI. He has coached at OVBC for 5 years. Outside of coaching Scott works in Engineering/Estimating for Morton Buildings. We like to refer to Scott as the King of Conditioning, just ask our coaching staff. Our alum can also fill you in on that.

Caitlin Crouse

Caitlin is from Erin, WI (Hartford, WI). She has been playing volleyball since the fifth grade at Divine Redeemer (grade school). She was a three year Varsity player at Lake Country Lutheran HS and spent one season playing at Concordia University WI. Caitlin has been coaching for five years now, three years at Lake Country Lutheran HS (coaching at the JV and Varsity levels) and two years at Oconomowoc HS as the Varsity Assistant Coach. She has also coached for OVBC for three years and this year will be her fourth.
Besides coaching she enjoys watching and playing sports, traveling, shopping, and spending time with friends and family!

Kerri Schrot Smith

Kerri is originally from Wauwatosa, WI and is currently living in Watertown, WI with her husband and two dogs. She has been playing volleyball since 5th grade at Christ King, 2 year Varsity player at Kettle Moraine High School as well as UW-Waukesha. She has been coaching for 9 years now, at River City VBC for 4 years, Madison Crush VBC for 2 years and Johnson Creek High School as JV and Assistant Varsity Coach for 2 years. This will be her third season with our club. Outside of the club Kerri works as an Office Manager for a flexible packaging company in Waukesha. Besides coaching Kerri enjoys playing volleyball, reading books, scrapbooking, traveling, fishing, and gardening.
