Welcome to the new Olney Central College Men's Basketball web page. We appreciate your support and look forward to an exciting season of basketball in 2008-2009! The Knights will open the season at home on November 1 against Sound Doctrine Prep. We hope to see you at the Dungeon all season long!

Knights Gain 20th Win on the Season
OCC picked up their 20th win of the season Saturday afternoon 77-74 at Kaskaskia. The Knights had not reached the 20 win mark since 2002-2003. This win was also the 10th GRAC victory of the season. OCC had not reached double digits in GRAC wins since 1999-2000.
It was a hared fought game as OCC trailed most of the night. OCC trailed 38-29 at the half. OCC made 21-22 free throws in the 2nd half to help earn the road win. OCC shot a dismal 1-17 from three point range on the afternoon.
Jared Rehmel paced the Knights with 21 points. Vern Watkins added 18 points. Ryan Daniels added 14 points with 10-10 shooting at the charity stripe. Ahmad Grant chipped in with 11 points.
The Knights finished the regular season with a 20-10 mark, 10-6 in the GRAC. They garnered the 4th seed for the region tournament. They will face Wabash Valley at 3:00 pm on Thursday March 5th.

Knights Upset #11 Ranked Southeastern Illinois 74-65
The Knights honored their sophomores in grand fashion Wednesday night with a 74-65 win over #11 ranked Southeastern Illinois. OCC trailed only twice during the entire 40 minutes. The Knights held a 43-35 lead at the break. The Knights biggest lead of the night was at 71-54.
OCC was led by Jared Rehmel's 21 points. Ahmad Grant added 17 points. Ryan Daniels added 13 points.
The Knights are now 19-10, 9-6 in league. They play their last regular season conference game at Kaskaskia on Saturday afternoon.
Monday, February 23
Knights Beat Lake Land 87-76
The Knights defeated Lake Land 87-76 to push their win streak to three games. OCC jumped out to a 23-10 lead at the 13:28 mark. OCC took their biggest lead of the night at 42-16. Lake Land cut the lead to 44-33 before OCC closed the first half on a 8-2 run to take a 52-35 lead at halftime.
The Knights pushed their lead to 76-52 before going on cruise control. OCC got sloppy in the last few minutes as Lake Land cut the final deficit to 11 points.
OCC was led by Jared Rehmel's 22 points and 7 assists. Ahmad Grant added 19 points and 8 rebounds. Colton Booher added 15 points on 7-9 shooting. Ryan Daniels chipped in with 12 points.
OCC moves to 18-10 on the season and 8-6 in the GRAC. They will host Southeastern Illinois on Wednesday. It will be sophomore night. We are asking fans to wear white for "WHITE-OUT NIGHT". Please come out and support the sophomores one more time!

Knights Win Double Overtime Thriller
OCC defeated Lincoln Trail 112-109 in double overtime Wednesday night in Robinson. The Knights made it two straight on the road with the victory over the Statesmen. Lincoln Trail took an early 31-14 lead with 7:17 remaining in the first half. OCC responded with a 21-9 run to close the half trailing 40-35. OCC made only 2-10 at the charity stripe in the first half.
OCC took a 46-44 lead with 16:36 remaining on Jared Rehmel's baseline floater. OCC managed to pull ahead 69-61 with 9:01 to play. LTC came storming back to take a 74-71 lead at the 6:04 mark. Anthony Griffis would make two free throws to push LTC's lead to 81-77 with 2:19 remaining. Ryan Daniels' and one would give OCC a 83-81 lead with 1:29 to play in the game. LTC took a 88-85 lead after an OCC turnover forced OCC to foul Walt Chappel who then made two free throws to push the LTC lead to 88-85 with 11.8 seconds. Jared Rehmel found an open Ahmad Grant who tied the game with a three pointer with 4.6 seconds remaining. LTC missed a three pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
LTC jumped on OCC in the first overtime to take a 93-88 lead. Colton Booher and Jared Rehmel hit back to back three pointers to give OCC a 94-93 lead. The teams traded scores until Colton Booher's three point play gave OCC a 99-96 lead with 55 seconds to play. Jaquan Ransom tied the game with a long three pointer. Jared Rehmel missed a floater and Anthony Griffis shot at the horn missed to send the game into a second overtime.
Both teams traded scores in the second extra period. OCC missed a shot and Jared Rehmel picked up the loose ball to drill a three pointer with 3.2 seconds to give OCC a 112-109 lead. Mike Relerford's three pointer at the horn hit the rim and bounced off.
Jared Rehmel led the Knights with 35 points and 7 assists. Ahmad Grant added 20 points and 10 rebounds. Vern Watkins added 18 points and 6 rebounds. Colton Booher chipped in with 14 points and Ryan Daniels added 13 points.
OCC moves to 17-10(7-6 GRAC) on the season. They will host Lake Land this Saturday night at the Dungeon.
Tuesday, February 17
OCC Defeats Wabash Valley on the Road, 82-68
OCC ended their 3 game slide with a key road victory at Wabash Valley. The win leaves OCC alone in 4th place for the time being.
OCC took a 41-33 lead at the break. Wabash cut the lead to 63-59 with 10 minutes to go in the game before OCC was able to pull away for a 82-68 win.
OCC was led by Colton Booher's 22 points and 6 rebounds. Jared Rehmel added 16 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds. Vern Watkins added 11 points. Joe Wright added 10 points. Ahmad Grant chipped in with 9 points and 7 rebounds.
OCC improves to 16-10 and 6-6 in league play. They travel to Lincoln Trail on Wednesday night
Tuesday, February 10
#2 Ranked SE Illinois Defeats OCC 90-71
Knights fall 90-71 to #2 ranked SE Illinois. The Knights hung tough at the half trailing by a 38-32 margain. SE Illinois shot a sizzling 69% in the 2nd half. OCC trailed 75-66 with 6:01 remaining in the game, but SE Illinois finished the game outscoring OCC 15-5 for the 19 point win.
Jared Rehmel had a game high 25 points to go with 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Ahmad Grant added 20 points despite playing with a stomach virus. Ryan Daniels added 11 points all in the 1st half.
OCC drops to 15-9 and 5-5 in the league and remain tied for 4th place. OCC will host John A. Logan Saturday night at home.
Monday, February 9
#11 Southwestern Illinois Takes Down Knights 92-79
The #11 ranked SW Illinois team proved to be too much for the Knights to handle as OCC fell behind at half 44-29. Ahmad Grant say most of the first half with foul trouble as SWIC took a build lead. OCC connected on 24% of its shots in the first half.
SWIC buitl the lead to 63-42 before the Knights made a late rally. OCC missed 9 free throws late in the game as SWIC held onto a 92-79 victory.
Ahmad Grant scored 21 of his 24 points in the 2nd half. Jared Rehmel added 20 points with 17 coming in the 2nd half. No other Knight hit double figures. SWIC placed 5 players in double figures.
OCC drops to 15-8 on the season, 5-4 in GRAC. They are tied for 4th place along with Lake Land College. Knights will face #2 ranked Southeastern Illinois at Harrisburg Monday Feb.9.

Knights Earn Road Victory 80-73
It has been a long time since the OCC Men's basketball team has won a league road game. However, the Knights looked very sharp at Rend Lake with a 80-73 victory. The Knights led for 38 minutes in the ball game. Rend Lake gained the lead to begin the half with a 5-0 run to take a 40-36 lead. Once the Knights regained the lead, they were able to hold it.
Jared Rehmel paced the Knights with 22 points. Joe Wright added 20 points and 13 rebounds. Ahmad Grant added 12 points and Cameron Hall chipped in with 11 points. Ryan Daniels added 7 points to go with 7 assists.
The Knights move to 15-7 on the year and 5-3 in the league as they remain tied for 3rd place. They will host #11 ranked Southwestern Illinois on Saturday night.
Monday, February 2
Knights Earn 14th Victory of the Season, 84-81
The Knights got off to a great start as they built a 49-35 lead at the break. The Blue Devils came storming back and took a 81-77 lead with 1:35 remaining in the game. The Knights scored on back to back posessions to tie the game at 81 all with 51.7 seconds remaining. The Knights rebounded a KC miss to set up the dramatic finish. Ahmad Grant hit a 3pointer with 12.6 seconds to give the Knights a 84-81 lead. Grant was also fouled on the play, but missed the free throw. KC missed a 3 pointer to tie the game as Ryan Daniels rebounded the miss and dribbled out the clock.
The Knights move to 14-7, 4-3 in league and are in a 3 way tie for 3rd place.
Jared Rehmel paced the Knights with 26 points. Ahmad Grant added 16 points. Ryan Daniels chipped in with 10 points. Ryan Laswell added 7 points and 6 rebounds.
The Knights travel to Rend Lake on Wednesday night.
Monday, January 26
Knighs Fall 88-78 at Lake Land
Lake Land jumped out to a 22-4 lead and never looked back as the Knights fell 88-78. The Knights closed the gap to 39-34 at the break. The Knights cut the lead to 39-36, but got no closer.
Jared Rehmel paced the Knights with 24 points. Cameron Hall added 17 points as the Knights fall to 13-7 on the season and 3-3 in the GRAC. They are now tied in 4th place with Lake Land. The Knights travel to Southeastern Illinois to take
Thursday, January 22
Knights Beat Lincoln Trail 85-77
The Knights were able to hold off a pesky Lincoln Trail team last night by a 85-77 score. Knights had a 13 point lead in the first half dwindle down to a 36-34 lead at the break. The Knights built a double digit lead in the 2nd half at 71-57 before Lincoln Trail executed there late game situations by fouling. OCC was able to hit 12-13 from the line down the stretch to preserve victory. The Knights are now 13-6 and 3-2 in the GRAC. They travel to Lake Land on Saturday for a 7:30pm game.
Ryan Daniels had a superb game with 35 points. Daniels made 4-5 from long range and 13-16 from the free throw line. He also added 6 assists. Jared Rehmel added 14 points. Vern Watkins added 11 points. Ahmad Grant 9 points and Joe Wright 8 points. Ryan Laswell was huge off the bench with 5 points, he also took 3 charges and came with a ton of loose balls.
Tuesday, January 20
Knights Beat The Bash, 77-71
The Knights defeated Wabash Valley College 77-71 to improve ro 12-6 overall and 1-2 in the league. The Knights led 41-23 at the break. Wabash made it close in the 2nd half, but the Knights prevailed.
Ahmad Grant paced the Knights with 27 points. Jared Rehmel added 17 points. Joe Wright had 10 rebounds to go with 8 points. Ryan Daniels added 11 points and 5 assists. Vern Watkins added 10 points.
The Knights will host Lincoln Trail on Wednesday night at home.
Sunday, January 18
Knights Fall to Logan 87-56
What appeared to be a close game quickly turned ugly for the Blue Knights Saturday at John A. Logan College.The Knights trailed 20-14 at the 12:12 mark in the first half. Logan went on a 31-4 run the next 11 minutes to take a commanding 51-18 lead. OCC went into the half down 51-24.
It was a tough night for OCC as they drop to 11-6, 1-2 in the league. They will regroup and face Wabash Valley Monday night at home.

Knights Fall 81-68 at SW Illinois
The OCC Knights lost to 14-1 SW Illinois in GRAC action Saturday night 81-68. The Knights played a good first half as they built an early 36-16 lead. The Knights had a 41-29 lead at the break.
The Knights placed 5 guys in double digits led by Jared Rehmel's 21 points. Ahmad Grant had 11. Joe Wright added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Cameron Hall and Ryan Daniels each added 10 points.
The Knights are now 11-5, 1-1 in league play and will travel to John

Knights Win 96-94 in Two Overtimes
The Knights battled to a double overtime victory in their first GRAC game of the year over Rend Lake 96-94. The Knights are now 11-4 and travel to Southwestern Illinois Saturday afternoon.
Jared Rehmel paced the Knights with 35 points. Ahmad Grant added 27 points. Jeremy Kendle and Ryan Daniels each added 9 points.
Saturday, December 6
Rehmel's Buzzer Beater gives OCC 83-80 Victory
OCC could never pull away from a very good Lincoln squad. OCC had a 3-7 point lead for much of the evening, but could never extend the lead to a comfort zone. OCC took a 43-37 lead in to halftime. Olney pushed their lead to nine points at point. Lincoln took a late 78-77 lead before Jared Rehmel connected on a trifecta to give OCC a 80-78 lead with 10 seconds to play. Lincoln struck back with a hoop by Byrce Davis to tie the game with 3.4 seconds. OCC called timeout with 2.4 seconds to set up a final shot attempt. Jared Rehmel connected on a 3 at the horn to give OCC a 83-80 victory. The Knights are now 8-3 on the season.
Tuesday, December 2
Knights Beat Webster 93-53
After coming off a nine day layover from their loss at Danville, the Blue Knights took it out on Webster 93-53.
Webster jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead before OCC reeled off 16 unanswered points. The Knights led 42-26 at the half. Thet outscored Webster 41-15 in the first 12 minutes of the second half.
The Knights are now 7-3 and play in the OCC Rotary Classic this weekend
Thursday, November 20
Knights Beat McKendree 94-72
After sleepwalking for 25 minutes, the Knights decided to play basketball for the last 15 minutes to pull off a 92-74 victory. The Knights trailed by nine points with 15:14 remaining.
Grant and Williams led the Knights with 23 points. Williams added 13 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 blocks. Jared Rehmel added 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ryan Daniels added 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Knights are now 6-2 and travel to Danville Saturday.
Tuesday, November 18
Knights Fall in Overtime 93-97
The Knights lost to Lincoln College Monday night 97-93 in overtime. The Knights trailed 36-34 at the half. Colton Booher led the Knights with 12 poins off the bench.
Olney trailed 64-53 with 8:46 remaining in the game before going on a 29-10 run to take a 82-74 lead with 3:02 remaining. The Knights would go scoreless in regulation as Lincoln reeled off a 8-0 run to close regulation.
It was Lincoln prevailing down the stretch to hold onto a 97-93 victory.
The Knights had 28 turnovers. Jared Rehmel scored 29 points, Ahmad Grant 27 points, Ryan Daniels 13 points, and Colton Booher added 12.
The Knights are at McKendree College on Wednesday.
Monday, November 17
Knights Win 90-74
The OCC Blue Knights won their 4th straight game by defeating Webster University 90-74. The Knights got off to a hot start leading 21-6. The Gorlocks responded with a big run of their own to only trail 43-34 at the break.
Webster trailed only 65-61 late in the game until OCC took control and pushed their lead into double digits.
The Knights are now 5-1 on the season. They will have three road games this week.
Ahmad Grant paced the Knights with 19 points on 5-7 shooting from long range. Jared Rehmel added 14 points and 5 assists. Cor-J Cox added 12 points and 6 rebounds off the bench. Ryan Laswell added 10 points as Joe Wright added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Daniels added a game high 9 assists.
Sunday, November 9
Knights Pull off Sweep in Missouri
The Knights made it a sweep Saturday evening in defeating Mid America Nazarene 108-68. The Knights shot a sizzling 72.4% from the floor in the first half to take a 55-28 lead at the break.
The Knights got everyone action. Jared Rehmel led the Knights with 20 points, Ryan Daniels added 15 points. Ahmad Grant and Jeffrey Dupree each added 13 points. Cor-J Cox chipped in with 12 points.
The Knights are now 4-1 on the season.
Saturday, November 8
Knights Come From Behind for Huge Victory
The OCC Blue Knights coming off a good win over West Plains took on a very tough Northeastern Oklahoma A&M team in the second night of the West Plains Classic. The first half was a defensive struggle as both teams played very good defense. Olney went into the half down 29-17. The Knights were held scoreless for over a six minute period.
NE jumped out quick to start the second half pushing their lead to 38-20 with 17 minutes left in the game. The Knights battled back to force overtime as the half ended 66-66.
The Knighs made free throws down the stretch and NE desperation attempt hit the front of the rim and bounced off.
Ahmad Grant took over the game leading the Knights with 21 points. Jared Rehmel added 18 and Lenzor added 17 points and 9 rebounds. Ryan Daniels added9 points and 9 assists.
The Knights are now 3-1
Friday, November 7
Knighs Win First Game in Missouri
OCC traveled to Missouri for a 3 game classic at West Plains. The Knights got things off to a good start by defeating the host West Plains team 94-82.
The Knights were down 13 points early in the first half before rallying to tie the game at 45 going into halftime.
The second half belonged to OCC as they built a lead to 17 points before holding onto a 94-82 victory.
Jared Rehmel paced 4 Blue Knights in double digits with 29 points. Ryan Daniels added 16 points, Ahmad Grant 15, and Cameron Hall 11. The Knights move to 2-1 on the season. They play Northeast Oklahoma A&M Friday night.
Tuesday, November 4
Knights Fall to #17 Vincennes
The Knights took a very good Vincennes team to the wire before falling 74-68. The Knights had a 43-32 lead at the break. Vincennes came out strong to start the second half. The Knights had chances, but failed to finish the game strong as VU won 74-68.
Jared Rehmel led the Knights with 27 points. Ahmad Grant did not score and only played 12 minutes.
The Knights will travel to West Plains for games Thursday-Saturday.
Sunday, November 2
Knights Win Track Meet 108-100
The OCC Blue Knigths opened their 2008-2009 with a fast paced 108-100 victory over Sound Doctrine. Both teams were whistled for 72 fouls as both teams shot 101 combined free throws.
The game was back and forth as multiple lead changes occured during the first half. The Knights were able to build a 56-49 lead at the break due in large part to Jared Rehmel's 26 first half points.
The Knights took a 73-63 lead at the 12:00 mark in the second half, but were unable to pull away. The Knights committed 30 turnovers on the night.
Sound Doctrine hung tough until the end as OCC was able to make free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
Jared Rehmel led the Knights with 35 points. Ahmad Grant added 21 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Daniels added 9 points and 6 assists as Vern Watkins chipped in with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
The Knights will host #17 ranked Vincennes University at OCC on Monday Nov 3. Tip off is set for 7:00 cst.

Ahmad Grant Named Pre-Season 2nd Team All-American
Ahmad Grant has been named by the NJCAA as a Pre Season 2nd Team All-American. Click on the link to see. Grant averaged 19.4 points per game last year as a freshman. He is expecting to have a big sophomore season.

Blue Knight Tip-Off Club Meeting, Nov 3 6:00 pm
The next Blue Knight Tip-Off Club meeting will be Monday November 3rd at 6:00 pm. It will be held before the OCC-Vincennes game that tips off at 7:00 PM. The meeting will take place in Wattleworth Hall in a classroom near the front entrance. All members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
