Welcome to the web site for the Oakville Rockets Girls U21 'Rep' Soccer team from Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Another Girls Under 21 team from the Oakville Soccer Club are the Oakville Phantoms.
The Rockets have been a team for a long time. We started as an Under 10 All-Star team during the 2001 summer and then progressed to Rep the following season.
After our first season in adult soccer in 2010, we are continuing to compete in the South Regional U21 Division of the Ontario Women's Soccer League in 2011. Prior to that, we played eight seasons in the
We are proud of the history of the Rockets. In the 2002 outdoor (summer) season, we finished as runners-up in the second division of the SRSL. In 2003, we finished fifth in the Premier Division and in 2004, we were Champions of the Premier Division. This promoted us to the Elite Division where we have finished fourth, fourth, fifth and sixth in four summers, before winning everything in 2009, being League Champions and League Cup winners.
We periodically update our site with the current news and events so we encourage you to browse the site's pages to learn about our team of youngsters, coaches, parents and sponsors. We hope you will return often to read about the latest achievements of our team and to see changes to the site.
HOW ARE WE DOING
In our most recent season, we finished second to a very strong London Gryphons team, many of whose players also played in the 'W' league for London. We also reached the final of the League Cup.
In the summer of 2009, we were all conquering, winning both the SRSL Elite Division and the SRSL League Cup.
In 2008, we were competitive throughout the league season, finishing in fourth place with a record of 6 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws. We reached the semi-finals of the West Niagara tournament again. We also competed in the Robbie and Ontario Cup. In addition, we reached the League Cup final where we eventually lost only on penalties to Niagara Falls after playing 120 minutes of a goalless draw.
In 2007 we were equally competitive finishing fourth with a record of 11 wins, 4 losses and 3 draws. We participated in the West Niagara tournament at the start of the season, reaching the semi-finals, and then moved on to the prestigious Robbie Tournament in Scarborough, where we won the final in an exciting game at Birchmount Stadium. We followed that with a trip to the National Capital Invitation Tournament in Kanata, Ottawa, where we again reache the final game, this time falling just a little short, losing to the OYSL Whitby Iroquois team.
In the summer of 2006, we had a good league season, finishing fifth with a record of 5 wins, 6 losses and 3 draws. We participated in the West Niagara and Mississauga tournaments at the start of the season, and then moved on the highlight of the summer with a trip to the USA Cup in Blaine, Minnesota, where we reached the semi-final of the Trophy flight.
In the summer of 2005, we also participated in the same two pre-season tournaments, West Niagara and Mississauga, on successive weekends in May. The league schedule saw us with fourteen games, against four teams remaining from the previous year's Elite Division, two teams that were promoted from the Premier Division along with us, and one team from the London league that was granted direct entry to SRSL Elite. Our final record saw us with 19 points from 5 wins, 5 defeats and 4 draws, which was good enough for 5th place.
In addition to the league games in 2005, we also ventured outside Canada for the first time, to the Greece Buccaneers tournament in Rochester, NY. Just as we had done the previous year in Montreal, we came home as victors, this time winning all four games without conceding a single goal against. Overall a great season on the field.
The 2004 summer season was a wonderful time. We started out with early successes, winning the Peterborough tournament and almost winning the Mississauga tournament, where we lost only on a penalty shootout in the final to Lac St. Louis from Montreal. In league action, despite strong opposition all the way, we ended up as Champions, leading the second placed team by five points. In all, we won eleven league games, tied four and lost only once. The other highlight of the season was a terrific trip to Montreal where we emerged as winners of the Challenge Brossard Tournament.
