Playground Renovation - Call for Volunteers
The Oakland Recreation Commission would like to renovate and replace the existing playground. We are asking for volunteers to help us fundraise for the new area. One of our biggest requests we hear is to remove the dirty/hot tire pieces and upgrade with clean safe ADA compliant solid rubber flooring. We would also like to extend the playground to allow an area for younger children to play. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE ASKING FOR....... We would like to form a fundraising group. In the same way we have formed groups to raise funds for each of the 4 scoreboards, the yearly 12u travel baseball team's Cooperstown Trip, the annual Christmas basketball tournament, the donations to re-furbish the 6 baseball fields, the sprinkler system, the new golf netting, the safety cages and safety netting - all with no taxpayer dollars - the commission is asking for the same enthusiasm in an effort to raise funds to replace the playground. If you are interested in giving us a hand, or taking the lead, please contact Recreaction Commission Vice-Chairman Mike Guadagnino (CoachGuad@aol.com).

What lessons do we wish our children to learn from recreation sports? What lessons are parents teaching their children by the example they set in stands or on the sidelines? Please click on the headline to watch this video which was forwarded to us by Councilman Don Burns. Monday, June 8
WOW!!! Oakland Recreation Rated #9 in the Country by Business Week Magazine!
Our new Tennis Courts came in On-Time, On-Budget and are a great new investment to the Oakland infrastructure and to the Potash Recreation Complex. Oakland recieved $269,000 in Bergen County Grants, a $40,000 private grant from the Brotherton Foundation and a $30,000 contribution from the Recreation Commission. These grants & contributions totaling $339,000.00 were a huge asset helping to ease the burdon on Oakland taxpayers!
Oakland Says Thank You!!!
