WOW!!! Oakland Recreation Rated #9 in the Country by Business Week Magazine!
Our new Tennis Courts came in On-Time, On-Budget and are a great new investment to the Oakland infrastructure and to the Potash Recreation Complex. Oakland recieved $269,000 in Bergen County Grants, a $40,000 private grant from the Brotherton Foundation and a $30,000 contribution from the Recreation Commission. These grants & contributions totaling $339,000.00 were a huge asset helping to ease the burdon on Oakland taxpayers!
Oakland Says Thank You!!!

Oakland Deserves a NEW Playground
Continuing the effort that was begun 3 1/2 years ago to modernize the recreation complex, the Oakland Recreation Commission would like to upgrade and modernize our playgrounds. Almost 10 years ago the main playground was condemed. Thanks to the Oakland Sports Association, they donated all the funds necessary to put up a new playground. We have listened to the parents of Oakland and would like to improve all aspects of our playgrounds. The Recreation Commission would like to remove the dirty tire pieces and upgrade with clean safe ADA compliant solid rubber flooring. We would also like to see the two playgrounds brought closer together and upgrade the equipment. THIS IS WHAT WE ARE ASKING FOR....... We would like to form a new fundraising group. In the same way we have formed groups to raise funds for each of the 4 scoreboards, the yearly 12u travel baseball team's Cooperstown Trip, the annual Christmas basketball tournament, the donations to re-furbish the 6 baseball fields, the sprinkler system, the new golf netting, the safety cages and safety netting - all with no taxpayer dollars - the commission is asking for the same enthusiasm in an effort to raise funds to replace the playground. If you are interested in giving us a hand, or taking the lead, please contact Rec Commission Chairman Steve Wagoner (Wagoners@optonline.net) or Rec Commission Vice-Chairman Mike Guadagnino (CoachGuad@aol.com).
