Indians/Warriors

Win the Mountain Bowl Championship Game

In the best game I have seen all year long, our Indians and Warriors played an outstanding game on offense and defense.  Going into this game, I was a little nervous because the one Franklin Lakes squad beat Ramsey last week 18 to 6.  So, I thought it was going to be a one play game that made the difference.  But, WOW, I dont know what our parents fed their boys, but they played a heck of game and looked so sharp out there I was so proud to be one of their coaches this year.  Our boys came to play tonight and again, they wanted this win and it showed.  Our parents did an excellent job with the banners, individual and team posters, balloons and just an out of this world spread of food and drinks.  Our entire football community is so thankful for all who contributed and especially our TEAM MOM'S.  YOU CANT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!  Coach Al will have a little write up of the game soon, but every player on the team contributed to this awesome win. Congradulations boys!  Coach Berrian

PLEASE SEND ME ANY GOOD PHOTOS OF THE GAME!  COACHJMB@VERIZON.NET

As our boys move up next season, this unity between football, parents, coaches and players will ensure our team really gels as one.  You can mark my words.........  A team that really gels together will go a long way each year.  Thank you all again for an extremely fun and exciting year.

11/12/08 - FINAL 2008 Pee Wee Braves Overall Record  22-17-5

A decent overall record especially given how many mismatches we had at the B and C level this year.

With 5 and sometimes 6 Pee Wee games per week, it was a little crazy at times, but all coaches truly hope that your son enjoyed playing pee wee football this year.  Taking a quick look at next season, we look to have similar number of players and if the new introduction to tackle moves forward, we could easily top over 100 pee wee football players.  This is exciting and the more numbers we get the stronger our teams will be each and every year.  Thank you all for an excellent football season.  Coach Berrian

Congradulations to our 2008 Indians-Warriors and Cheerleaders

12/31/08 - Happy New Year!  Check back in Feb. for the 2009 signup dates and times.  Our league is making significant changes for the 2009 season.  Details to follow as they come.

11/10/08 - The season has ended for the A/B Braves and the Chiefs.  It's always sad for a football season to end as you spend so much time with the team.  Most coaches go into football widthdrawal for a few weeks after football season.  Even though its a long season, you still dont like it to end, but it has to end sometime and I would like to thank the parents, coaches and players for an enjoyable football season.  I hope to see everyone back next season.  Please wash each piece of your son's equipment with antibacterial soap and water.  This will ensure we are handing out clean equipment for next season.  You can click on the "Equipment Cleaning" tab for special instructions.  Thank you again Coach Berrian

11/10/08 - Another excellent game by our B Braves sunday playing a swarming and fast Wayne PAL defense.  Our Braves moved the ball very well and got in the end zone once.  We controlled most of the game, but in the end, a kickoff return for a TD and extra point did us in.  Whats even more surprising is this was the only kickoff return for a TD we had all year against us.  Our Braves just had a fantastic season finishing at 8-2-1.  We are very proud of each player and how they really came together and played well each week.  Thank you boys for an excellent season.

11/10/08 - Our A Braves also finished the season strong with a win over Wayne PAL.  As this squad has done all year, they played their hearts out and gave every thing that they had.  Good blocking most of the game and some excellent running by all our backs.  A few nice passes and catches for decent yardage.  Our defense was pounding all game long but we did give up one touchdown pass because we were very aggressive this game.  But we got the break at the right time and they fumbled their extra point attempt and we were able to preserve the win.  As I said all year long, this is going to be a tremendous team because they have all the pieces to puzzle.  As they move up to the Juniors next year, you will see them start to dominate games as they learn to open up the offense.

11/9/08 - Could it have been the blue pants???  In fitting fashion, the A Braves played a tremendous game last night on offense and defense and won 7 - 6. Our Braves dominated the line of scrimmage on defense and offense in which we gained over 100 yards rushing the ball. Just a great job by all our players. More to follow....

11/6/08 - Our 4th grade B Braves did another outstanding job in the mud covered field in Ridgewood. A close game at 8 - 6 most of the game, but our B Braves held on to win the game 20 - 6. This game had it all...... lots of mud, a few fumbles, goal line stand by Ridgewood, a defensive safety by our Braves, and an interception by our Braves. Just a extremely fun game to watch the boys play the game of football. Nice hard running by Matt N., Justin H., and Darin G. A couple of runs by Liam C., Joe D. and Walter J. Our defense was swarming almost all game long and we had some nice blocking by our line. Congradulations Boys! We move on.....

11/5/08 - Parent/player End of Season Reviews - I will post the review forms on the website so you can give us your evaluation of the season, coaches, field, games ect. From the 2007 evaluations, our biggest issues were squad league matchups, practice field condition, and lights. With respect to the practice field, there is really nothing I can do as I bring it up every year and unless we can find a more suitable area for our large pee wee group, we have to live with it. For the lights, we added one set and will hopefully add some more next season. The league scheduling issue is my top concern for next year. We are not going into games not knowing what age/experienced type of team we are playing. At the C and B level, these are 6,7 and 8 year old kids and we really need to make sure we are going against like teams; this year was a disaster with the league schedule at the B and C level.

11/5/08 - As the season nears the end and while I still have your attention, I would like to thank all the coaches, players and parents for an enjoyable season. Although the A squad struggled in the win/loss record, they played extremely well in almost every game this year and the games we lost by 1 and 2 points will be wins as this squad moves up to the Junior level. I have told the players that this is the most complete squad we have had in years and I really believe that. For some reason, we didnt get the breaks at the right time in games. No matter how the B Braves finish up in the B Tournament, they had a tremendous season. They really gelled well and played well each game and they got the lucky breaks at the right times this year. The Chiefs also played well this year, but were going against almost all 4th grade teams. Last year this squad went against almost all 3rd grade squads, so it should be very interesting to see how this squad performs at the A level since they were so used to be playing older, more experienced players. Now they will be on top and hopefully these past two years have given the confidence to play any team next year. Both the Indians and Warriors have won several games each this year and have played well in almost every game. Overall, I think this was a successful season and we really wont know that until we see the signups for next season.

2008 OAKLAND FOOTBALLYEAR END EQUIPMENT RETURN PROCEDURE

I would first like to say THANK YOU to all who contributed to the 2008 Football season. Whether it was working at the snack bar, announcing the games, working the chains during games, helping with apparel sales, Posting on the web site or any other way you contributed, it was greatly appreciated.

As you may or may not know, it takes a TREMENDOUS amount of time, effort and resources to run a successful program. In an effort to improve the program each year, we constantly strive to try and implement better more efficient ways of doing things.

This year, in an effort to preserve the uniforms and to help keep things organized, we are requesting that everyone please make every effort to return your equipment on the day your team is scheduled. We will have one day for each level the week before Thanksgiving, then one alternate night the week after Thanksgiving if in the event you have an emergency and can not make it. OAKLAND BRAVES PEE WEE FOOTBALL GAME RECAPS

11/2/08 - The B Braves travelled to Kinnelon this after and played another superior game on defense. Even though we didnt have our entire team, our players stepped up when they had to. Matt S. played exceptionally well at nose tackle making several key stops in the backfield. Bobby M. also some some nice stops in the backfield. Joe D. and Matt N. did very well stopping any runs that got past the line of scrimmage. Darin G. and Michael A. did another outstanding job containing any runs to the outside. On offense, Matt N. had some nice runs during the game. Justin H. had another stellar game at qb and to top it all off, Scott S. centered for the first time in his football career and did exceptional! Just another fun and exciting game for our B Braves! Coach Berrian

11/1/08 - The A Braves have had a tough season.  We just want all the players to know that we are proud of their effort, sportsmanship and most of all never giving up even when the chips are down.  We are proud of all the kids that have worked extremely hard throughout the season!  Continue to hold your heads up and play hard because you are a good team that just needs a little more luck!  The A Coaches

10/31/08 - Indians Games - The Indians played 2 games in a row, on Wed. and Thur. night. On Wednesday, they played a good Ramsey squad and it was a nail bitter all game, but the defense came up big in the end stopping Ramsey at the 7 yard line with no time left and won the game 12 to 7. Last night the Indians played a very strong Wayne Boys Club team and we had very limited offensive plays, but we were able to squeak out another win 14 to 12. And we held Wayne in the end stopping them inside our 15 yard line as time ran out. I cant believe the transformation in the Indians the last two games as they seem to have come together well and are playing very well together. Just a great job by our players! I want to thank the few Warriors and Chiefs players that helped us out on Wednesday and Thursday. Without them, we could not have fielded a team, so thank you very much for coming, all the boys appreciate you being there! Coach Berrian

10/27/08 - Just another stellar game by our B Braves. Without our starting qb, the B Braves were still able to push out a win over a tough Bergenfield squad. Matt N., who never played qb, did an excellent job for his first time under center. He also scored our lone touchdown on a 44 yard scamper around the outside. We also had fairly decent blocking all game long, but a couple of holding penalties stalled some drives. Our defense played extremely well, only giving up 2 first downs and only 1 longer run on a nicely executed double reverse by Bergenfield. A nice interception by Liam C. towards the end of the game sealed the win. Very nice job by Kyle M. both on pass defense and also tackling.

10/25/08 - Ok, now that was fun! Thank you all for coming to the 2008 Braves Halloween Party. You probably didnt believe me when I told you it was a nutty and fun night for the boys, but I think everyone enjoyed themselves and hopefully they will remember this for a long time. I will tell you that this was the most scared group I've had in many years! I literally had to stop talking in the dungeon because players were tooooo scared! Which was very cool! It was also nice to see many of the parents go thru the dungeon this year. The Halloween party for me is like saying thank you to all the Braves who play football. Football is a tough sport that many young children will not even try and for our players to come to practice, work hard and play hard each week, they deserve a big hand and fun party. I hope everyone had a great time! Thank you, Coach Berrian

10/22/08 - Warriors - In our best all round effort of the season the Oakland Warriors beat Pompton Lakes 19-7. Outstanding running from Jason Earle (2 TD’s), Sean King and Anthony “PETRO” led our offensive efforts. Very effective blocking upfront kept our offense moving all night long. Danny Hit Man Hrenenko pick up a fumble and went the distance on a long TD run. BTW he is our Center and could not be caught. I have a feeling Jim (mike martz) Thomas will be getting him the ball.

On the defensive side of the ball the Warrior’s were awesome. With 4 forced fumbles the defense was swarming to the ball with gang tackle on after another. Joe Miceli stood out again leading the team with multiple solo tackles. Nick Brown playing his best game of the season caught a Cardinal from behind on his way to the end zone that led to a fumble recovery for Brandon Thomas. A great defensive effort by all. Coach Al

10/22/08 - The Indians actually played an excellent game last night against a B squad. Our 4 "Braves Dawgpound" players did an exceptional job stuffing the inside runs all game long. Again, the league schedule has been a mess this year and we are just trying to get thru this season. All these scheduling issues will be dealt with at the league meetings at the end of the season.

The Dungeon will be open to all Pee Wee players on Sunday October 26 from 6pm to 8pm. All pee wee players are welcome to come! (this is not the halloween party, this is for any pee wee player who may want to go thru the dungeon and any A/B Braves who may want to go thru again.

10/19/08 - B Braves Game - The B Braves traveled to Pompton Lakes on Saturday night and probably played their best game as a squad. Pompton got the ball first and drove right down the field and scored on our Braves. We got the ball and we drove right down the field on them and scored. So, from the first two series, we know that this was going to be a battle all game long. Coach Cleary made some adjustments on the defensive side to counter what they did successful during the first drive and our Braves defense responded with dominance. After the first drive, I think Pompton only got one other first down the rest of the game. Just a great job of penetration by Kyle, Bobby and Joe. Michael and Darin kept the outside runs in check and Matthew and Brendan did a great job reading the play and filling when they saw the back coming. Our defensive backs, Kyle, Liam, Justin and Walter also shutdown Pompton's passing attack. Just an awesome job by our defense. On offense, we got excellent blocking most of the time by Joe, Scott, Darin, Kyle, Zack, Michael, and Brendan and great running especially by Justin and Matthew. We scored 3 touchdowns which is the most we have scored this year by any of our Braves squads. Great Job Boys! Keep up the good work. Coach Berrian

10/18/08 - A Braves Game - As they say, football is a game of inches and again our Braves played their hearts out last night. At half the game was tied 6 - 6 and it looked like the momentum was shifting our way. But a long drive by Pompton and just a good bootleg option pass and catch by Pompton made the difference in the end. When the qb threw the ball, I was just hoping that the player would drop it, but he didnt and they got in. We didnt get much offensive opportunities in the second half and were set back a little by holding penalties and a couple of sacks. At the pee wee level, it is extremely difficult to make up those yards and 95% of the time you get a holding penalty at the pee wee level, you will not get 20 yards in 3 downs. But like I said, our team continues to give everything they have and leave it on the field, we just arent getting the break at the right time. Coach Berrian

10/13/08 - Chiefs Game - The Oakland Chiefs returned home on Tuesday night and took on USR/Allendale’s 4th grade squad. Early on the Chiefs D suffered a few missed tackles and USR took the lead 6-0. From there, Oakland was hanging tough on Defense not allowing another score and stopping USR on three 4th down plays. Sean McMorrow, Andre Girard, Nick DiDonato, Jonny Caponi and Kenny Summers shined with big plays on defense. On offense, Nick DiDonato ran hard inside gaining 25 yards and Shane Brancaleone also gutted out the tough yards from the tailback position.  The offensive line blocked the pass plays very well and QB Conor Pernetti was 3-3 for 22 yards. On a big 3rd down and 19 play DiDonato took the handoff on a 28 sweep taking the USR D with him and then planted and threw a perfect pass back across the grain to Pernetti who snuck out of the backfield on the throwback play. A perfect pass and catch was good for 18 yards. The Chiefs came up short 6-0 and return home on Tuesday night to take on Wyckoff at 7:30 PM

10/12/08 - Our B Braves came out on fire today as they scored 2 touchdowns and 2 more that were called back due to penalties.  But a great job by the Braves defense to hold Ridgewood to only one td today.  Excellent running and passing by Justin H. and some nice catches and runs by Joe D.  Matt N. had the most yards running again with two touchdowns.  No running would have taken place without decent blocking by our offense line.  On defense, Liam C., Walter J., Darin G., Brendan G. and Michael A. were in on many tackles.  Many gang tackles were made in Ridgewoods backfield which was nice.  Great Job boys!  Keep up the good work.  Coach Berrian

10/11/08 - As a parent, most of you dont know what type of teams we are facing or their prior records.  Rigdewood II was undefeated so far, prior to our game, they have NOT let up ONE offensive touchdown all year and literally have NOT given up ONE first down in their prior two games against Franklin Lakes or Pequannock.  They also were NEVER behind in any game all year long.  And for us to take the opening kickoff and drive for a touchdown was a MAJOR success.  They didnt know what hit them tonight and I am so proud of our boys tonight.  To get a first down was one thing, but to score an offensive touchdown against a team that has shutout everyone else was just awesome!  Our defense was stellar all game long and we bent a few times, but Coach Mike made some adjustments to stall Ridgewoods potent offense.  Our players left everything on the field tonight and we couldnt have asked for anymore!  JUST AN OUTSTANDING JOB BY ALL OUR BRAVES PLAYERS TONIGHT! Coach Berrian

Indians - 10/6/08 - Just another awesome game by the Indians squad tonight playing a tough Franklin Lakes War Eagles squad.  Both teams had very good success running the ball.  Matt F. had some nice gains and Alex B. ran for over 60 yards.  Marc F. made some very nice cuts on the outside on several plays for good gains.  And John K. did a great job on the few carries that he got.  Just some good blocking by Evan W., Evan H., Ryan M., Connor F., Brian K., Brendan A. and  Roman B.  On defense several of our players made some nice tackles.  We even caught 3 passes tonight, one for a touchdown, one for an extra point and the other one was for a first down.  Just a great job overall by all our Indians.

Chiefs - 10/6/08 - The Chiefs hit the road again on Tuesday night to take on Ramsey. The Chiefs opened the game on offense and took the ball down inside the 5 yard line after 2 plays. Shane Branacaleone's 33 yard run thanks to two tremendous blocks from Max Watters and Conor Pernetti was stopped just short of the end zone. The offense managed to scrap all night and gained 62 yards on the ground and nothing through the air. The Chiefs D was the real story led by Jonny "Ballhawk" Caponi who forced three Ramsey fumbles, recovering one on his own. The Chiefs held on five 4th down plays and allowed Ramsey past midfield only twice all night. Ramsey drove to the Oakland 30 yard line with 2 minutes to play gaining a key first down. But the Chiefs stood firm behind a vicious first down tackle for loss by Sean McMorrow in the backfield, two takcles for loss on 2nd and 3rd down by Dylan Vajda and Kenny Summers and a 4th down collision by Jonny Caponi that ended the game. Oakland returns home on Monday might at 630 pm.

B Braves - 10/5/08 -

A Braves - 10/4/08 -  A night in which our Braves came to play, they played hard all game long.  We were basically in control all game long, but we couldn’t punch it in when we needed to.  Early on the game, we had clear sailing on several plays; our swinging gate, 2 out passes and a tight end fly pass that were so close to taking it to the house.  And one of the passes we connected on, we fall inside the 1 yard line as the half ended.  You really couldn’t have scripted the game better but we all have to remember that these are 9 year old boys doing their absolute best out there on the field.  I am very proud of our team.  Our defense was excellent all game long.  We only gave up one long run which was a nicely executed reverse by Pequannock.  But, from there our defense had a great goal line stand keeping Pequannock out of the end zone from just past the 5 yard line.  Overall, our boys played an exceptional game and you must also be proud of them.  We had opportunities that if we had executed, we would have won this game.  We are so close that this type of game really hurts, but we will forward as we move on.  Game Highlights Include:

Tony P.  - Didn't have enought teeth to fill his mouth piece and came up with fumble recovery, great heads up play!

Bradley H. - Couldn't be beat with amazing tackles all game long!

Mike A. - Big play at 4th down when it really counts!

Nick N. and Matt C. - Serious plays holding the line - not alot of accalaids but the team knows if you weren't doing your job our defense wouldn't be as strong as it was tonight!

Coach Berrian

9/30/08 - WARRIORS VS. FAIRLAWN -  On a night made for football the Oakland Braves took on Fair Lawn.  With Welcome to the Jungle blaring from the speakers, the stands adorned with the team colors and snacks that I never saw, we were ready to go. The game was tight until our offensive explosion began.  Jason Earle took the reverse from Al Nittoli and went for over 60yards for our first score, followed by our second completed pass of the season Nittoli to Miceli for the extra point and 7-0 lead. In the 2nd half our defense continued to play great with the standouts being Miceli 6 Tackles, Earle 5 tackles, Turner 6 Tackles, Scalabrini 4 tackles and Danny Hrenenko who played great at Center, LB and had amazing Kickoffs and kept the Fairlawn team deep in their own end all night had 3 solo tackles. Nick Brown, Brandon Thomas and even our QB Nittoli had 2 Tackles each, a great job by the whole defense. Offensively we scored 3 more td's in the 2nd half.  Anthony Petrosino had 2 Td's and finished with 5 carries for 57 yards,  Nick Scalabrini had a TD and 56 Yards on 5 Carries, Jason Earle had 72 Yards on 3 carries.  Total offense was 215 Yards of offense. The unsung heroes are our offensive lineman Connor, Kindergan, Pernetti, Patterson, Pietropaolo, Murphy and Berrian who opened holes all night and played both ways.  Our offensive lineman will receive extra stickers this week for their efforts. Thank you to all of the Parents who made this a special night for all of the coaches and kids.

9/30/08 - CHIEFS VS. USR - The Chiefs returned home on Tuesday night to take on Upper Saddle River/Allendale and came away with a hard fought 7-0 victory. The lone score of the game was the result of a gutty 13 play drive that took almost 8 minutes off the clock. The offensive line of Caleb Smith, Max Watters, Kyle Patel, Paul Lehman, Kenny Summers, Dylan Vjada, and Sean McMorrow paved the way for Shane Brancaleone, Nick DiDonato and Conor Pernetti. Brancaleone and DiDonato both converted on key 4th down runs on the drive. DiDonato scored from 2 yards out and Brancaleone picked up the conversion. The Chiefs D was on the attack all night long forcing three turnovers. Two fumbles were recovered by Luke Spitaletta and Shane Brancaleone who came close to returning them both for TD's. Caleb Smith had a touchdown saving tackle late in the game and the Fearsome Fivesome of Patel, Summers, McMorrow, Vajda, and Andre Girard made plays all night long. The Chiefs will return to action next Tuesday @ Ramsey.

9/29/08 - INDIANS VS. BLOOMINGDALE - Our Indians squad went up to Bloomingdale on Monday and came away with 2 interceptions by Matt F. and Joe F. which were brought back for "technical td's" since it was a scrimmage.  Our defense was swarming all game long with hits from Conor F., Roman B., Brendan A., Alex B., and Ryan M.  Just an unbelievable game by Brian K., John K. and Evan W. on defense.  On offense, our backs did a very good job running the ball when they actually got the handoff.  Marc F. was stellar at qb, avoiding the inside rush and blitzes by the Bloomingdale defense.  3 of our linemen got an attempt to carry the ball last night, and Brian K. did a great job taking his carry all the way to the end zone!  With the help of Joe M. and Nick S. did an excellent job on defense and a nice run by Joe on a reverse.  Great Job Indians, keep up the good work.

9/28/08 - B BRAVES VS. FL -  With only 12 players, 2 of which were 2nd graders, our Braves played a stellar game Sunday afternoon against Franklin Lakes.  Our stifilling defense led by Brendan G., Matt N., Liam C., and Walter J. made several tackles each to keep FL in check all game long.  Darin G. and Michael A. kept all plays inside as FL could not get past them on the outside.  Bobby M., Michael C., and Matt S. provided the inside rush and made several nice tackles for short gains.  Justin H. and Kyle M. came up on many plays to assist in tackles.  On the offensive side, Matt N. shinned again with 2 more touchdowns, 4 TD's in 2 games.  Liam C., Walter J., Darin G., Alex B. and Kyle M. all had some nice runs during the game.  Just another great game by our Braves.  Lets keep up the good work!

9/27/08 - A BRAVES VS. FL -  Tonight our A Braves played their best game of the season to date.  We bent on defense but made a couple goal line stances again tonight.  Bradford K. just had an enormous defensive game stopping their BIG running back countless times.  Since I forgot to tape the game, if any of the dads taped the game, please let me know.  On offense, we were able to move the ball and Steve H. scored in the 3rd quarter.  We also caught a few passes by different receivers which was nice to see.  Although we had some nice runs by our backs, we still have to work on running the ball and seeing the open areas.  We had running lanes that were more than 10 yards on either side without a defender and the backs will learn to see those holes a little quicker as we move forward.  But, an overall good performance by all our Braves players tonight, including great gang tackling and great tackles by our rovers, Bradley H and Jack O.  Coach Berrian

9/28/08 - CHIEFS VS. WBC -  The Oakland Chiefs played their second road game in as many weeks on Sunday at Wayne Boys Club. The Chiefs fell behind early 7-0, but battled back on their first offensive series with a 13 play 60 yard drive scoring drive. Shane Brancaleone was his usual elusive self and sparked the drive with a 21 yard run. QB Conor Pernetti hooked up with Nick DiDonato on 4th and 14 for a key first down. One play later Pernetti ran QB sneak for the Chiefs score. Nick DiDonato successfully converted the point after. On defense Jonny Caponi (3 tackles) and Sean McMorrow (2 tackles) wreaked havoc in the Wayne backfield and Ian Schroeder moved to inside linebacker and picked up two key stops. The Chiefs return home on Tuesday night at 7:30 PM to take on Upper Saddle River/Allendale.

9/23/08 - WARRIORS GAME - What a great performance by our Warriors!!  Jason Earle had over 90 yards rushing on 4 carries and a Touchdown.  Al Nittoli connected with Joe Miceli who made a great catch in the end zone for the extra point and the 7-0 lead.  After a TD saving tackle by Danny Hrenenko our defense stiffened with it’s first of two Goal Line Stands  of the game.  A great 4th down stop by the defense was led by Joe Miceli playing the cornerback position perfectly and not letting the running back get outside.  Pequannock tightened up it’s defense in the 2nd half and put together a drive late in the game.  Another Goal Line Stand with stellar inside and LB play by Jason Earle 4 tackles, Mike Connor 4 tackles, Nick Scalabrini 4 Tackles and Brandon Thomas with 3 won the game for the Warriors.  Offensively in addition to Jason Earle’s performance, Anthony Petrosino Had 3 carries for 26 yards.  Total stats for the offense were 10 carries for 136 yards, 1-1 passing for 5 yards. Coach Nittoli

9/23/08 - B BRAVES GAME - The Oakland Braves traveled to Wyckoff on Monday in what was a very hard fought defensive battle with both teams not really able to establish any type of offense. For over 3 1/2 quarter it was a zero to zero game, in the end Wyckoff was able to score a touchdown (with less than 2 minutes to go) causing the B Braves to experience our first lost of the season 7-0. On the offensive side of the ball, we had some opportunities at times, but did not score. We had our first successful punt by Justin which was unbelievable (over 30 yards).

Despite the loss, the Braves defense continues to play very well and we are making progress with our tackling and staying home especially the defensive ends (Darin and Michael) and cornerbacks (Liam and Walter who make some great solo tackles) and prevented the Wyckoff running backs from getting outside. In fact, the entire Braves' defense stopped the Wyckoff team at least 4 times from scoring within the 5 yard line a very hard thing to do at any level (BRAVO, keep it up). Finally, our linebackers (Brendan and Matthew) are reading the plays better and getting to the ball sooner. Matthew made a great play at the end of the game and stripped the ball away from the Wyckoff running back to give us one last chance. If we continue to come to practice, play as a team; learn to tackle low and hard; and block until the whistle is blown you will have a great season win or lose. Keep up the great work!! Coach Cleary

9/21/08 - B BRAVES GAME - Excellent job by our B Braves today in Glen Rock.  Just a rock solid, swarming defense was the big news of the day.  There was 3 to 5 Braves in on every tackle, just amazing how well this group has worked together.  Good job on the offensive line with Bobby, Brendan, Walter, Michael, Scott, Matthew and Kenny just opening up some nice holes for our backs to run thru.  Great job of running by Matthew, Justin, Liam, Walter and Darin.  As you may have seen, we loosened our defense up in the 4th quarter to allow each team to have some success.  This is how ALL B and C games should be played, but as you know, its not the case most times.  Just a great performance and you should be proud of your sons!  Coach Berrian

9/19/08 - A BRAVES GAME - Wow, I sure hope you enjoyed that Pee Wee Braves game tonight because it was very exciting, especially at the end.  It was a battle of field position all game long and the passing attach of Glen Rock was extremely well executed.  We bent on defense but didnt break all game long.  Our tackling was a lot better than our first game with numerous solo tackles by Nick B.  Just an amazing how he made some of his tackles tonight.  Bradford K. also played an exceptional game with several solid tackles.  Jack O. had one interception with a nice run back and almost broke it open and almost another interception to boot.  Tony P. and Michael A. played very well at the end position forcing many playes inside from their speedy quarterback.  We also got good blocking by our offensive line but we are still learning on how to see the holes open up.  A few nice runs by Cameron, Bradley and Steven, but not enough bundled together to sustain drives down the field.  Very nice job by Cameron in Kicking and Punting tonight.  You dont think special teams play a big part of the game, but tonight those extra yards we got them back made a difference.  The best part is that the players never gave up and when it was 4th and inches in OVERTIME, OUR BRAVES STEPPED UP AND TO PRESERVED THE TIE.  Although a tie is not as good as a win, we still get a point in the standings and it really shows what this team is made of.  Great Job by our Braves.  Coach Berrian
