TYLER headed for NFL International CAMP TRYOUTS
There are currently five British players from the BAFL that are now playing on NFL practise squads. They are:
Marvin Allen - Pittsburgh Steelers
Shaun Smith - Carolina Panthers
Jason Brisbane - San Diego Chargers
Aden Durde - K C Cheifs
Jermain Allen - New Orleans Saints
Our hope is the next International player to make that roster will be our very own Tyler Matia. Tyler has spent 2006 in the UK playing for the Cassidy Jets, and 2007 again away from home and playing this time for the AF2 team the Rio Grand Valley Dorados. Tyler is currently in the UK playing for the Cassidy Jets in the BAFL final two weeks ago and has just returned from a football game In Austria Germany where players are scouted for the semi pro German teams.
His dedication and commitment to his sport has meant he has now been invited to trial for the first of a number of camps to also make an NFL practise squad as an international player. The journey is a long and slow one but Tyler is not on his own. Two Kiwis living in England , Johhny and Lester Hopewell are with him as well as Jets staff to get him to where he needs to. Tyler will be attending the first NFL International Player Camp next week in Bristol. Should he be successful there the next one will be in Spain. We will keep you in touch with his progress. We are Wildcats - We are Champions - We are Family.

3 WILDCATS in BRITISH FINAL
66 - Tom Wynne 58 - Gavin collins and 73- Tyler Matia hold up the winners medlas of a close fought Coventry Cassidy Jets final. 33 to 32 was the final score as the whistle blew on what was a razor close game. offence and defence both worked hard to take the Boston trophy from the London Blitz as they snatched it from the Jets last year. So with 4 seconds to go avery nervous rookie kicker, Fraser Houston kicking a game winner 40 yard field goal. The Jets will now see 58 - Gavin Collins wear the black and red for the rest of 2008 as he joins the WILDCATS for the year.

New Jerseys for 2008
The WILDCATS management have been working hard in the off season and are pleased to have taken the first steps to secure new jerseys for the 2008 season. With the win for the club of KIWIBOWL last year it was necessary for the club to take itself to the next level and ensure we were the best we can be on the field.
The new jerseys are from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and are just part of what the WILDCATS management have in store for the returning Seniors this year. The Jerseys are being purchased from COLLEGE JERSEYS in the US through their agent in the UK Mr Ben Herod. The jerseys are top quality and we are looking forward to having them for the first game this November.

Jo back in Black and Red...STOCKTON LIGHTNING
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Lightning announced WR Joe Taula (TALL-ah) has been acquired from the Tri-Cities Fever in exchange for future considerations. Completing the transaction, the Lightning have dealt WR Atnas Maeko to Tri-Cities, Lightning interim head coach Chad Carlson announced today.
The Lightning also announced the following roster transactions:
- QB Chad Elliott placed on re-assignment
- OL/DL Bryan Gabourel placed on re-assignment
- WR/DB Robert Henson assigned by the af2 league office
- WR/DB Raymond Little activated off injured reserve
- WR Etu Molden placed on re-assignment
"When I came here I didn't want to play any favorites for the quarterback position - I wanted one who was tough, fast and talented and Andy Collins fits what we're looking for," said Carlson. "We wish Etu well and we're not sure if his heart was in it, but we're positive Joe Taula and Robert Henson can be solid contributors. They're multi-taskers, they're long, can play offense and defense."
Taula appeared in three games this season with the Fever, registering 1.5 tackles in three games and was in uniform for his most recent game against the Lightning on May 24. A product of the Boys College of Keaston (New Zealand), Taula earned a spot on the New Zealand international squad as quarterback.
Taula will wear jersey number 14 and Henson will wear jersey number 22, who are both scheduled to make their Lightning debut this Saturday when the Lightning face the Central Valley Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on radio at 1420 KSTN and viewed online, free-of-charge at http://www.stocktonlightning.com/ (courtesy of Nifty Online TV).
