THE NEW YORK'S FINEST SOCCER CLUB HAS MERGED WITH THE NEW YORK ENFORCERS FUTBOL CLUB TO FORM:
NYPD FUTBOL CLUB
The New York’s Finest Soccer Club has merged with the New York Enforcer’s Futbol Club to form one of the largest and best Law enforcement Soccer teams in the country. Between the two teams, the amount of accolades, championship trophies and recognition is insurmountable. Both teams have on their rosters very talented players that have experience playing professionally and at the Division I college level. Along with these talented players is a core group of players that although not as talented or experienced, leave their hearts and souls on the field. The roster now lists approximately 75 members. The team has obtained a new logo depicting the team’s unity which includes the NYC skyline, the U.S. flag and the colors representative of the NYPD. The team will now be simply called the “NYPD Futbol Club”. The team plays competitively in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League: www.cslny.com as well as benefit indoor/outdoor tournaments throughout the Tri-State area.

NYPD SOCCER VISITS SOUTH KOREA
On October 16, 2009 the NYPD Soccer Traveled to Seoul, South Korea on a 14 hour direct flight. One day later, the team played the Seoul Korean National Police, falling 5-2. After two days rest, they recovered vs the Korean Police Univ team, winning 4-1. Following the matches, the boys visited many sights in Seoul, including the King's Palaces, the DMZ (North Korean border), and enjoyed the local culture, shopping and foods. The team then traveled to a suburb of Seoul, where they visited their most important part of the itinerary, an orphanage. In anticipation, the team had prepared 100 NYPD Soccer bags full of assorted gifts, including soccer balls, NYPD coloring books, crayons, DEA stickers, hats, and patches for the children. During the meet and greet with the children, the team practiced their Korean language skills, as the kids surprised all with their attempt at English. The children, and adults alike, were so gracious over the team's visit to their beautiful country.
Special Thanks to the Korean Consul here in New York and the Korean National Police and Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for all their help and guidance.

FDNY VS. NYPD AT GIANTS STADIUM AUGUST 30TH FOR THE MAYORS CUP"I'm a little upset we lost, but it was a charity event we were here focused on," said Lt. Ron Mejia, coach of the NYPD team who works out of the Organized Crime Investigation Division in Manhattan. "I hope we can do it again next year. The Red Bulls were real good to us, the guys were all happy they could play on this field, and the main thing is that we raised money for two good causes."
The Bravest went in front three minutes into the match, knocking in a corner kick at the back post that came off the cross bar. The Finest appeared to score the equalizer just before the stroke of halftime, but Jose Sura's screaming free kick was called back by the referee, who ruled that Sura needed to wait for his whistle. Sura put his second attempt into the FD wall.
Bravest went in front, 2-0, three minutes into the second half when they tapped the ball into the open net from 20 yards after stealing the ball on a bad pass. Moments later, the NYPD had a second goal called back as a foul was called when Jorge Bedoya headed the ball into the net. Sura had another free kick in the 50th minute, but it skimmed off the crossbar. A few minutes later, the Finest was reduced to 10 men when Bedoya took down an FD player in the box. FD, though, missed the penalty kick. The NYPD also missed from the penalty spot when Dave Pulice fired well over the crossbar. The Fire Dept iced the win when an Fd player struck another goal in the net after a mixup defensively on the part of the Finest. In 2010, the teams hope to raise more money for the charities as they anticipate facing off at the new Red Bulls Stadium,

NY RED BULLS AND THE NYPD SOCCER TEAM TRAVELED ON A HUMANITARIAN MISSION TO COLOMBIA, SOUTH AMERICA MAY 20-27
"SOCCER FOR KIDS – BREAKING FRONTIERS”
Under the “Soccer for Kids - Breaking Frontiers" program, implemented by the New York Red Bulls in conjunction with the New York City Police Department's Soccer Team, a delegation from both entities traveled to Colombia from May 20-27 and held several soccer clinics in different cities bringing underprivileged school children, 300 soccer balls and over 1,000 Red Bulls t-shirts, Police Athletic League T-shirts, cleats, shinguards, Goal keeper Gloves, hundreds of coloring books, crayons and other soccer apparel.
Through this delegation of goodwill, the movement’s goal was to send a positive message that reflected the way in which the sport of soccer can help individuals achieve a better standard of living, showing that nothing is impossible with the joint efforts of both countries.
This trip took place in the cities of Pereira, Manizales, Armenia and Santa Rosa where over 2,000 kids were visited. In Manizales, the delegation visited the schools, Fe y Alegria, José María Vargas Vila and Santa Clara. In Armenia, the group conducted a clinic prior to the friendly with the Armenia Police Force. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit the school, Pedro José Rivera, In Santa Rosa, the alma mater of Red Bulls head coach Juan Carlos Osorio.
The NYPD Soccer Team took part in several friendly matches to establish closer ties with their Colombian counterparts, who have received the program with great enthusiasm and worked hard to ensure that their campaign was successful. The NYPD Finest Soccer Team traveled to the Colombian cities of Manizales, Armenia and Pereira where they played three matches against host police departments, recording a record of 1 win (4-0), 1 loss (2-1), and 1 tie (1-1).
Several members of the team that included Lt Ron Mejia, Det. Donato Romano, PO Marco Alzate, (Cali) PO Jorge Bedoya, (Medellin) along with the NY Red Bulls, received the key of the city of Manizales from Mayor Juan Manuel Llano Uribe, at a packed ceremony held at his office in Downtown Manizales. The team also received a proclamation and "Shield of Honor" from the Commander of the Police, Colonel John Jaime Ospina Loaiza, thanking them for their humanitarian efforts in Colombia. Also on hand to praise the group from New York was the Governor of the Department of Caldas, Pilar Lours, who officially appointed them the Guest of Honor of the Department of Caldas.
"We are honored to have our department chosen for these clinics and to receive the donations," Lours said. "The children who benefited from this effort you are making will remember these moments for a long time."
The NYPD Finest Soccer Team was rewarded with great satisfaction and affection from the children and the school's staff, who were so gracious for the visits and the gifts. The group was treated to folk dances and songs performed by the children and traditional dishes prppared by the staff at every school they visited
Our goal is to continue to visit countries in South and Central America and around the globe, allowing us to be in contact with children, and hope that these modest donations can be a message that would bring smiles to their faces, and become something very positive in their lives. All of the members of the NYPD Soccer Team use their own funds and vacation time to travel on these trips and it is all worth it just to see a kid smile and shake your hand thanking you for the visit. The trip is very rewarding mentally and spiritually knowing the you can make a difference in a kids life, even if its for a moment.
Last year the team performed a similar trip in Guayaquil, Ecuador and are already planning a 2010 trip to Peru, El Salvador or Argentina.
