N.Y.C. Financial Services Softball League: Welcome
Message From The Commissioner
Welcome to the home of the new New York City Financial Services Softball League, aka, NYCFSSL. This Website has a load of features that are very impressive as well as our official league colors. It goes without saying that we plan to make the NYCFSSL one of the premier softball leagues in the city. As we build to the future our Corporate League, Coed Softball, a league represented travel and tournament team will emerge and expansion of the current conference will greatly be enhanced. Join me in welcoming our visitors and future members to our new home, the official home of the new New York City Financial Services Softball League. The league office consists of a Commissioner who is responsible for administering and enforcing league matters and policies effecting the general functioning of the league e.g. budgeting, scheduling, etc. The 'NYCFSSL' is a dues paying member of the Amateur Softball Association ('ASA'), a nationally recognized organization that establishes and governs the rules and guidelines followed by 'NYCFSSL'. The objective of the 'NYCFSSL' is to promote recreational competition with goodwill and sportsmanship among participating member organizations. Each participating team in the Corporate and Coed divisions must be officially sponsored by it's member organization and managed by a authorized person. Team Manager(s) are responsible to represent the interests of the member organization in league matters and to communicate necessary information between the league office and member organization. The 'NYCFSSL'conducts an annual membership registration drive in January/February at which time new member organizations are introduced. In March season schedules distributed and rule clarification and/or changes introduced. The league Commissioner/President works with the Department of Parks and Recreation of New York City to secure field permits in the downtown New York City area e.g. East River Park Fields, located near Grand Street. The season of play typically begins the second or third week of April and extends through the Labor Day weekend. Organizations that wish to participate must make full payment to the league office per dates specified on the budget schedule handed or faxed out in December/January. The 'NYCFSSL' sponsors a mid-season All-Star game that includes a HomeRun hitting contest with participation of every member team. At the conclusion of the season starting in 2009, the 'NYCFSSL' plans to sponsor the 'WSCS' (World Series Championship of Softball), a tournament of league champions spanning the financial community in the Metropolitan New York area. Finally commencing in 2010 an Award Presentation will be held post season to honor and recognize the contributions and achievements of participating teams and players.
