League Rules 2.5

1. Age divisions are based on May 1.  A player can not turn the next age before May 1.  For example: A player born 11/7/1993 is eligible to play in 16u, but a player born 4/30/1993 is not eligible to play in 16u (2009 Season).  For invalid players see rule 6.

2. Players and coaches must be adhere to all rules under the national organizations the Northwest Suburban League is sanctioned by. 

3. All teams must have all fees paid to the league, forfiet fees turned in, insurance submitted, rosters locked and umpires names submitted before they can play a game.   If any of the above items are missing that team will forfeit the game.

4. Games will be played under the rules in the Game Rules section of this web site.

5. Players and coaches are to be dressed in uniforms representing their teams.   For a player this includes hat, jersey and pants.   For a coach this includes hat and shirt.  If a coach wants to include matching pants that is encouraged, but not mandatory.

6. Players cannot be included on more than one roster in the same age division.   Players must be in the online roster to be valid to play.  A suspected invalid roster player(s) can be protested in writing via e-mail to the age director no later than 48 hours after the game is played.   A copy of the opposing coach's lineup card from the game in question must also be provided to the age director along with $25 check made payable to Northwest Suburban League.  The  protest fee   will be returned to the team protesting if the rosterered player(s) is found to be invalid.  If the rostered player(s) is found to be valid the $25 fee will be kept by the league and applied to the scholarship fund.

7. Home team is responible for the umpires and the field permits.

8. Canceling games  - Games can only be cancelled for the following reasons:  1) Contagious disease of team members and/or coaches 2) Death of team member and/or coaches.   3) Public official has prohibited the game.   4) League director has cancelled the game.   Game must be cancelled in an e-mail to the league age director and the opposing coach no later than 72 hours of when the game was scheduled to be played. 

9. Rainout determination:  Home team head coach will determine if a game is a rainout.  A game can't be called a rainout any earlier than 24 hours prior to the start of the game.  If the game is not called a rainout both teams are expected to report to the field for the regularly scheduled game.  The home team will report to the league age director that the game is a rainout within 24 hours of the scheduled game.

10. Forfeit determination:  Except for conditions in rule 8 and rule 9 if a team does not show up for a scheduled game than the team will be charged with a forfeit.

11. Age division champion determination: 

1. Points –    (2 point win / 1 point tie) if tied rule 2

2. Winning Percentage    -   if tied rule 3   

3. Head to Head Play  -  if tied or no head to head rule 4

4. Least Runs Allowed – if tied rule 5

5.  Most Runs Scored – if tied rule 6

6. Flip of a coin

12. Physical confrontation - This league has "zero tolerance" for any physical confrontations by players, coaches, fans or anyone else. Violation of this rule can lead to removal of the team from the league - board's discretion.


13. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited within the field and game viewing areas.  That includes fans, participants and coaches.  Violation of this rule can lead to removal of the team from the league - board's discretion.
