August 2002
8/1 - Dodgers Lose To Kansas Royals To End Up Third At CABA World Series
The Northwest Dodgers fell to the Kansas Royals 11-8 to get eliminated from the CABA 13U World Series and finish 3rd. The Dodgers took a 8-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning, only to see the Royals storm back to take an 11-8 lead. The Dodgers were unable to answer in the top of the seventh, ending their run. Congratulations to the Dodgers for clawing back through the loser bracket to finish third. The 3rd place finish in 2002 improves upon their 5th place finish at the 12U 2001 CABA World Series in Omaha.

The final top 5 were:
1) Kansas Royals (Kansas)
2) Brazil
3) Northwest Dodgers (Washington)
4) Prairie Gravel (Illinois)
5) Witchita Indians (Kansas)

8/1 - Dodgers Defeat Brazil. To Face Kansas Royals Tonight
The Northwest Dodgers defeated Brazil 12-0 today to reach the final 3. Next up are the Kansas Royals, who defeated the Dodgers earlier in bracket play. If they win they will face Brazil tomorrow in the championship game. A loss leaves them finishing 3rd.

8/1 - Dodgers In Final Four At CABA World Series
The Northwest Dodgers advanced to be one of the final four teams at the 2002 CABA World Series by defeating the Wichita Indians 8-5 on Wednesday, 7/31. The Dodgers started pool play off well with a 9-3 win against the Oklahoma Bucks. Things got a little shaky in the next two games, seeing the Dodgers lose to Prairie Gravel (Illinois) 14-3 and the Texas Renagades 6-4 while giving up 0 earned runs in the latter game. Pool play concluded with the Dodgers 2-2 after having beaten the Wichita Sluggers 12-0.

The Dodgers got into the Championship bracket with some help from the Texas Renegades beating the team they needed to to get them there. The Dodgers have gone 3-1 in Championship bracket play defeating 1st Response (Oklahoma) 4-1, losing to the Kansas Royals 3-2 in a close game, defeating the Texas Renegades 9-3 and the Wichita Indians 8-5.

The Dodgers play undefeated Brazil at 2:00 today. If they win, they will play in the evening against the winner of Prairie Gravel (Illinois) and Kansas Royals. If they lose, they're out.

May 2002
5/27 - Dodgers To Travel To Tulsa In July
By virtue of taking second in the 2002 Washington CABA Championships, the Northwest Dodgers will travel to Broken Arrow, OK (Tulsa) to participate in the 2002 CABA 13U Ultimate World Series. The dates for the tournament are July 26th through August 3rd. The 2001 Dodgers took 5th at the 12U CABA World Series in Omaha, NE.

5/27 - Dodgers Win CABA World Series Berth
The Northwest Dodgers won a berth to the 2002 CABA Ultimate World Series in Tulsa, OK on Monday, 5/27 by finishing second in the Washington State CABA Championships. The Dodgers went 3-0 in pool play defeating the Kirkland Heat, the Fairwood Falcons and the Bellevue Bulldogs to advance to bracket play. In quarterfinal bracket play, they defeated the Seattle Rainiers in a close 2-1 game and then defeated the Issaquah Bears 7-3 in the semi-finals. In the finals, the Dodgers were paired against the Seattle Stars, who, along with the Dodgers are the only undefeated teams in WSSKBA league play. In the final game, the Stars jumped out early, taking a 4-0 lead after two. The Dodgers added one in the third to make it 4-1. The Stars got that run back in the fifth before the Dodgers added 3 in the sixth to make it 5-4. The Stars added an insurance run in the 6th and the Dodgers could only muster one in the seventh to leave a final score of 6-5 Stars. It was a great game. The Dodgers get another chance at the Stars in WSSKBA league play, as the two teams meet in league play in the Dodgers next game on 6/2.

Special thanks to Aaron Horrocks, Jerry Thornton and crew for hosting another great tournament!

5/9 - Dodgers Beat Knights
The Dodgers extended their league record to 8-0 with a 19-4, 17 hit win over the Maple Valley Knights at Des Moines 1.

5/5 - Dodgers Win 3 Over Weekend
The Dodgers won three more games over the weekend to remain undefeated in WSSKBA play. Friday they beat Redmond Select 7-3 in a chilly game at Redmond. Saturday evening they traveled to Issaquah and took on the Bears Baseball Club in another cold one and beat them 15-4 in 5 innings, pounding out 13 hits and displaying excellent patience at the plate. Sunday saw the Dodgers register an 18 hit, 18-0 win against Kenmore. Special mention goes to Bryan Barnes who threw a perfect game on Sunday. Congrats Dodgers and way to throw Bryan!
