Northern Virginia Coed Adult Soccer League: Welcome

Welcome to the NVCASL
The Northern Virginia Coed Adult Soccer League (NVCASL) was established to provide recreational soccer for coed adult teams who desire to play in a competitive, fun environment. First and Foremost the NVCASL endeavors to provide safe enjoyable soccer for all players.

Checks will be cashed as soon as they are received. A pdf of the Fairfax County Zip Code Map is in the Team Managers Handout section. Use it to determine player residency.

Roster Violation: for any player who is not registered on the team roster. Teams with roster violations may be subject to removal from the league.
The schedule will reflect 7 scheduled games. The 8th game (playoff or just final season game decided by division) will be scheduled at the end of the season based on the number of rain-outs/reschedules.

Coed Rule
Team may have no more than seven (7) players of either sex on the field at any one time. Teams must have a minimum of four women on the field. For each woman less than the minimum of four you must play an equal number less of male players.
4 females / 7 males
3 females / 6 males
2 females / 5 males
< 2 females / forfeit

Division Information
Teams will be placed in Divisions by Ralph. Please contact Ralph directly for division seeding. Games for each division will be on a consistent night of the week as much as possible based on field availability.

Men’s Divisions are now available.
Turf Fields Completed
The county has completed installation of new turf fields at several sites. This should limit the number of cancellations due to wet fields. With WOG and the new county fields the majority of games should be on turf!
Game Reports
Team managers please make sure you submit your game reports to your division manger. The referees do not report game scores. As the team manager it is your responsibility!

Fairfax Forecast Weather Information
The teams should call Fairfax County Parks Authority, 703-324-5264, or check the Fairfax County Parks Authority web site to determine if a game has been cancelled because of weather. If it has rained the day of, day before, or the ground still has moisture, verify field closings. If field closings are listed (as opposed to all fields closed) please pay particular attention to field #s. If the message does not say that the field where your game is scheduled is closed, you must show to the game or you will forfeit the game. Keep in mind that Barnsfield (BARN) is not a county field. If the county line lists some fields as open and some not, check this website or 703-378-7831 for the BARN field status. If the Rain Line is not updated on the weekend, call 703-378-7831 after 3pm. We will try to get that updated if the County Line is not, but it will not generally be updated during the week. Players playing on closed fields are subject to up to $1,000 in fines and any affiliated league is subject to having their field permits revoked.

The NVCASL does not maintain a database of available players nor refers players to team managers within our league. We recommend you register in the player database at Player List since we have recommended to our team managers that they look there to find players to fill out their rosters.


The Ref Enforcement on Swearing/Fighting
Swearing: Automatic Red Card for any audible curse words (we all know what they are). Player must leave the park (not just the field) and cannot play in the next game.
Fighting: Automatic Ejection from the League for 1 year.
Red Card Procedure
Anytime a red card is issued it must be reported by the team manager/captain to the division managers with the player's name and the nature of the offense. The league does keep track of these players. Anytime a red card is given the player must leave the park (not just the field). The first red card a player receives has a penalty of having to sit the next game out. The second card received has a penalty of sitting out two games. Don't get three. Players receiving red cards may expect a phone call from a league official to discuss the matter.
Yellow Card Procedure
Managers are STRONGLY urged to voluntarily sub out players when they receive a yellow card. (The refs will allow for an immediate substitution.)
