A message from Coach DeMarie:

Thank you to all my North Shore swimmers and their families for the wonderful "last day of practice" for me on Monday night.  Your more than generous gifts will always be appreciated and certainly never forgotten.  My 30 years with North Shore have always been rewarding, and to conclude such a great experience the way you all  made it for me last night, just makes my feelings for the entire North Shore coaching experience  so much more memorable.

I will never forget all of my many NS swimmers, and most especially, this last 2008-09 team which helped me conclude a career.  Thank you all again and remember it is " North Shore Forever".

COAT DRIVE

Winter is approaching, and no one should have to go without such a basic necessity as a coat! North Shore Swimming is collecting clean, reusable coats and jackets to assist the One Warm Coat community service effort. Coats of all shapes and sizes are welcome and children's sizes are most needed.

Just bring your clean, coats and jackets to practice any night during the week of December 8th and North Shore volunteers will take care of the rest. All donated coats will be given to local church outreach programs for distribution to the community in need.

Motivational Patches Recognize Achievement and Encourage Goal Setting, Participation and Improvement!

Swimmers (and their parents) frequently wonder how their times compare to those of other swimmers. A variety of time standards have been developed for comparison and classification purposes, all of which can be found on the Standards section of the web site. The set of standards that is most often used is referred to as the Top 16 Motivational Time Standards. These standards are based on the sixteenth fastest times ever swum in that age group in USA Swimming competition. The standards in order of increasingly fast times are: B, BB, A, AA, AAA, AAAA. Most swimmers starting out in an age group will have times in the B to BB range. As they gain experience, their times will frequently fall into the  A to AA range. Exceptionally fast swimmers have times that fall in the AAA to AAAA range.

You will receive a patch for each new A time in a stroke.  You will be mentioned every time you receive a new A time in that stroke for the different distances, but not another patch, it doesn't matter if you got your patch in meters or yards, it is all looked at as achieving the A time.  You will start all over every time you age up to a new age group.

For a complete breakdown of all the levels, check out the Team News page.
