Notes from August 25, 2009

Membership Meeting

1. CHARITABLE GAMBLING REPORT/Karen Michaelson

THE THEFT OF THE SAFE (8/3/09) AT NSP TAP & GRILL WAS DISCUSSED. ALL COMMISSIOERS WERE INFORMED THE DAY OF

THE THEFT AND WERE AGIN ADVISED TO INFORM PARTICIPANTS WITHIN THERE RESPECTIVE PROGRAMS OF THE INCIDENT. WE

ARE WAITING FOR A FINAL COPY OF THE POLICE REPORT SO WE CAN SUBMIT IT ALONG WITH LG250 (FUND LOST REPORT) TO

MN GAMBLING CONTROL BOARD. TOTAL AMOUNT OF FUNDS LOST BY NSPAA WAS REPORTED AS $5337.68.

60 DAY NOTICE TO TERMINATE LEASE AT TAP & GRILL WAS RECEIVED FROM OWNER ON 8/5/09.

REVISE IN TERNAL CONTROLS WITH REGARDS TO MONTHLY TAX PREPARATION, ACCOUNTING SERVICE TO ENSURE PROMPT

SUBMITAL OF ALL INFORMATION AND COMPLETED TAX FORMS TO STATE AGENTCIES.

THE BOARD RECEOMMENDED THAT THE CURRENT CPA CONTINUE SO SHE CAN CLOSE OUT THE YEAR. WE WILL THEN

CONTRACT WITH AN NEW CPA FIRM FOR 2010.

WE WILL LOOK INTO HIRING A NEW EMPLOYEE WHOS’ FUNCTION WOULD BE “DATA ENTRY” WITH THE GMA SOFTWARE

WHICH WILL ALLOW US TO PREPARE AND TRACK MONTHLY CHARITIABLE GAMBLING DETAILS AND TAX PREP.

ALLOWABLE EXPENDITURES AS SUBMITTED WAS APPROVED.

LAWFUL EXPENDITURES AS SUBMITTED/REVISED WAS APPORVED.

GAMBLING REPORT AS A WHOLE WAS APPROVED.

2. President’s Report/Doug Van Duyne

Thanked Baseball & Softball Commissioners and their volunteers for another successful year providing of

running their programs. Congratulations to the winners of their tournaments. Revisited the Tap & Grill theft of the

NSPAA Pulltab booth and discussed future plans regarding this establishment moving forward.

3. Treasurer’s Report/Steve Drake Report as submitted.

Checking Balance: $6,048.94 Savings: $203.94 Putnam: $9,994.24

Total expected balance $16,247.12

4. Community Development:

No new details regarding space from the City regarding our storage needs. We continue to press

for a location in NSP to house program equipment. Park & Rec committee will be touring the new Pavilion at Colby

Hills Park.

5. Facilities: Future Needs, Issues, Projects

Harmony Renovation project, Rebuilding the mounds at Casey Lake and possible Richardson

lighting

6. Baseball: As Submitted

Fall Ball – Must be NSPAA teams only.

7. Softball: As Submitted

Motion to repay City of Woodbury for ‘Quik Dry” ($473.00) was made by Paul Korn and seconded by Steve Drake.

Motion passed

8. Football: As submitted

Background Checks on coaches (completed forms).

9. Old Business: Revision of current By-Laws tabled to September BOD Meeting

10. New Business: None

Motion to adjourn (9:00 PM) Actual time 9:45PM

History of the North St. Paul Park System

Coming soon, the history of the North St. paul Park system by Dan Colberg.

This 37 page booklet touchs on the foundation of North St. Paul as a planned community by Capt. Henry Castle back in 1872 and progress's thru modern day N. St. paul and it's park system. Many of them used by our Association. It's a very interesting read through time!
