National Small College Rugby Organization LLC: Welcome
The National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO, pronounced "N"-Scro) was co-founded by Steve Cohen and Chip Auscavitch in 2007 to organize the Division III and Division IV college rugby national playoff system. These championships are a vital part of developing rugby in the U.S. as over 200 men's and women's teams are classified in this category (more than 25% of all college rugby teams).
Prior to 2007 both the men’s and women’s championships were held and managed by Steve Cohen independent from an established organization. They were known as the "East Coast Championships". As additional teams and unions began to participate, the NSCRO was created and the name was changed to the "NSCRO National Championships".
In 2011, NSCRO had 151 men's Div III, 59 women's Div III and 22 women's Div IV teams in our playoff system. Clubs who want to participate in the NSCRO playoffs must be members in good standing of a local governing body in a league system and be recognized as a club sport in good standing by their college/university.
Throughout this site you will find lots of helpful information, including important administrative contacts, schedules, scores, standings, policies & procedures, etc. Please feel free to explore the site and definitely check out the "Documents" link on the left hand side.

After a detailed review by NSCRO and all Unions and Conferences, the NSCRO Team Eligbility Policy for Division 3 Men has been significiantly revised. In addition, the Team Eligiblity Policy for Divisions 3 & 4 Women has been revised.
The purpose of these Policies is to establish a competition for teams participating in the Division 3 leagues to foster their growth and development. NSCRO maintains authority over team eligibility for all NSCRO-sponsored matches and events. An NSCRO-sponsored match or event is one that is not part of a Union or Conference league or playoff system and leads to a NSCRO Regional or National Championship.
NSCRO believes that all collegiate rugby clubs should play at the highest level (division) that is right for their program regardless of their enrollment size. This is how a club and its players will improve and thus sustain interest in their club. Clubs need to play in a competitive league and based on their success, move up to a higher division through a promotion/relegation process that is under the control of their Union or Conference.
The Policies are located in the Document section under "Policies & Procedures".
