2008 Football Overview
Thanks for considering Squires football for your child. We understand that you have choices in this community with regards to youth sports and we intend to prove to you that the Squires provide the family football experience you are looking for.
Here is important information for the 2008 season:
Practices
The practice season starts on August 4th. During August, teams practice four nights per week (Monday through Thursday) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at our Hancock Road practice facility (across from Gwyn-Nor Elementary School). We understand that some families have planned vacations during August and coaches can be flexible in working around these absences.
We will be scheduling scrimmages during the last two weekends in August and the weekend after Labor Day. There are no football or cheering activities during Labor Day weekend. We also host our Punt, Pass & Kick competition during August.
Once school starts in September, we practice two nights per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, again from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Games
Games start the third week in September and run through the first week in November. Typically, games are held on Saturdays; however some teams may have Friday night or Sunday afternoon games. We play other teams in the area usually within 30 minutes or less from North Wales. Our home games are held at either Pennbrook Middle School's football field or on our new lighted field on Hancock Road.
We have four home games and four away games during the season. Each home game is a family event based on the following:
1. Opening Weekend
2. Hall of Fame Weekend
3. Homecoming Weekend
4. Final Weekend
More details will be developed as we get closer to the season.
Requirements
Players are provided with both practice and game uniforms, a helmet, shoulder pads, and other required pads during an assigned equipment pick-up time in July.
Each player must provide his own non-metal football cleats, socks, and athletic supporter.
Philosophy
The North Penn Squires football program teaches youth aged 5 to 14 the proper skills to compete and enjoy the sport and provides a strong fundamental skills base for youth who choose to continue to compete at the interscholastic level.
Equally important, our football program strives to encourage and teach all Squires players and family members the important values of good sportsmanship, teamwork, physical fitness, and respect for parents, coaches, teammates, referees and opponents, as well as self respect and the development of self esteem for the participants themselves.
Our football program is implemented in such a way as to make no sacrifice to scholastic achievement. We stress that to our participants that eligibility for athletic activity is based on satisfactory performance in the classroom.

Keystone State League Information
The Keystone State League (KSL) offers five tackle weight divisions which gives parents options when deciding the team that is right for their child at specific age and weight combinations. This is especially meaningful for the lighter children in our organization.
We are also members of the Montgomery County Flag Football League for our 5 and 6 year olds.
