Celebrating 35 Years of Dedication
In 2008, the North Penn Athletic Association will have a year-long celebration of 35 years of dedication to the youth of the North Penn area. The NPAA was established in 1972 and incorporated in 1973. We will be celebrating our past as we also focus on our future. As part of that celebration, we will be dig into our archives for photos like this one from 1974 that shows two young players who are still with organization, now in a coaching capacity. It is folks like Mike and Wayne, and their parents before them, that have made the NPAA so successful for so long!
Upper Division Champs Celebrate
After finishing the regular season with a 8-4 record, the Bucks breezed through the North Penn Squires Upper Division (ages 13-15) double-elimination tournament undefeated to capture the 2008 Championship. Players and coaches celebrating their season are--front row (left to right): Stephen Harrington, Austin Printz, James Rivera, and Taylor Everett. Back row: Coach Darryl Dawson, Chris Dawson, Charles Hopkins, Maurice Anthony, Craig Needhammer, and Coach Bryce Everett.

The grant, which was received in June 2007, was requested in December 2006. The money is earmarked for Squires building improvements which coincide with the "Field of Dreams" project that lengthened the current practice field to a regulation-size field that were used for games in 2007. Senator Greenleaf presented the check at the ground breaking ceremonies for the new field on September 22nd. Thanks Senator Greenleaf!

Squires AD Attends Forum at Eagles Camp
The Eagles and USA Football played host to the first annual Youth Football Regional Forum on Sunday, April 29th. With approximately 20 different area youth football leagues represented, presidents and league officials gathered to discuss current issues, and met coach Andy Reid. The North Penn Squires were well represented with Tom Rinck, our Athletic Director (second from left). The Squires have been an active member of USA Football since their inception. We received a $1500 grant from them last year which was used to purchase new shoulder pads.
USA Football is an independent non-profit organization whose purpose is to support and expand football at all amateur levels. They received initial funding from the National Football League and the NFL Players Association, through the NFL Youth Football Fund. USA Football does not operate any leagues or teams. Their mission as a national advocacy organization is to support and enhance the development and operation of leagues, teams, coaches, parents and players across the United States with resources and best practices such as coaching and health & safety information. Jack Kemp, former U.S. Congressman and All-Pro quarterback who led the Buffalo Bills to the 1964 and 1965 AFL Championship, is USA Football's Chairman.
The Squires will continue their affiliation with USA Football in 2007 and beyond.
