SAVE THE DATE -- END OF THE SEASON BBQ AND AWARDS PRESENTATION ON MAY 20
We were never able to get in the opening day ceremony and barbeque so we have decided to open up the traditional 12 year old barbeque up to everyone and have a (near) the end of the season event for everyone.
Here is the plan. We would like all the teams to arrive in uniform at Rancho on Sunday May 20 by 9:30 am. We will get the teams organized and lead them onto the field by 10 am.
At 10 am we will have a short ceremony announcing all the teams, recognizing last year’s winners, introduce all the 12’s and then present the Hamann Sportsmanship Award.
After the ceremony (approximately 10:30 am), we will get the barbeque up and running while we start the 12 year old home run derby. There will also be a jumpy out on the black top for the younger kids. The barbeque will keep going throughout the afternoon.
Rookies start playing at 11:30 am and Major playoff games will be at noon and 2:30 pm.
So that the Minors can enjoy the barbeque, we have pushed back their playoff games to 2 pm and 5 pm.
Let Tom Donnelly (tdonnelly@centralcountyfd.org) or me know if you have any questions. Tom will be looking for volunteers to help out as well.
APPROVED BATS FOR 2012 SEASON
The NLLN Board of Directors has voted to allow certain metal, metal-composite and all composite bats for the 2012 season. Over the past two years, Little League has imposed additional testing and certification measures in connection with approving composite bats for use in little league games. Although the Board was of the opinion that the use of wood bats at the Major league level last year was a success, the Board determined that this was an opportune time to allow for the reintroduction of what we believe are metal, metal-composite and all composite bats better suited for children of little league age. The ONLY metal, metal-composite and all composite bats that are approved for play during the entire 2012 little league season are bats that appear on this list.
Do not rely on the list of approved bats on the Little League website, as that list may change over the season. If you have any difficulty accessing the list, please contact NLLN President Eric Grover at eagrover@kellergrover.com and a pdf of the list will be emailed to you. Wood bats that 100% wood are also acceptable at all levels of play.

At the end of each season, the Novato Little League North selects one twelve year old, to receive the Ed Hamann Sportsmanship Award. The winner is selected by fellow twelve year olds and managers and coaches. The award is based on good sportsmanship, a positive attitude, a willingness to help others and being a team player.
Congratulations to the 2011 winner
Julian Villamante of the Cardinals!
