1950 to 1955
1950 Norwich Little League was established and obtained its first charter with Williamsport, Pa. 1951 The start of the first official season of Norwich Little League and the officers are President-Frank Riley, VP-louis Pingalore, Secretary-Gert Gallagher, Treasurer- Aubrey Brown and Player Agent-Howard Dickerman. Started with 4 Little League teams-Yankees, Redsox, Cardinals and Braves. The first allstar team wins district title, but was defeated in quarter finals by waterbury 10-5. 1952 Norwich added 2 more teams for a total of 6. (Indians and Giants). 1955 John Winters founded the the Farm System. In six short years this league would be generally regarded as one of the finest of its kind in New England. This took an immense amount of hard work, to accomplish and preserve such a fine league.
1956 to 1960
1957 Norwich develops 2 Charters with Little league Baseball. The American and National Leagues.1959 The first womans auxiliary is started.
1961 to 1965
1961 Norwich Nationals won the district 11 championship, In the states tournament Norwich lost in the opening round 7-4 to waterford North. 1963 Norwich Americans won the district 11 championship. In the state tournament norwich opened with a win to portland 17-3, in the quarter finals won 3-2 over groton nationals, semi finals norwich won 4-2 over windsor locks, Norwich lost the title to stratford originals 6-0. 1965 Senior League boys become regional and New England Champions.
1966 to 1970
1966 Norwich nationals win the district 11 championship. In the states they lost 3-1 in the quarter finals to windsor locks. 1967 Norwich Nationals win the district 11 title. In the states won the opener 2-0 to middle town and lost in the quarter finals 8-1 to Montville Americans. 1968 The New England Tournament Committee was established. 1969 The boys win the District 11 Championship.
1971 to 1975
1971 Norwich Big League baseball introduced at Norwich. Designed for boys ages 16-18. They started with 4 teams-Athletics, Twins, Padres and Phillies. Games were held at Norwich Tech and the Sr League field. The all star team was runner up for both the CT and New England titles. Both Played in maine-double elimination.1972 Second year for Big League- Still 4 teams. The big league won both the CT and New England titles, which were played in Norwich. Came in 3rd Eastern Regionals held in ocean side (L.I). 1973 The Big league won both the CT and New England Titles. 1974 The big league division won both the CT and New England titles. Participated in the Easttern Regionals held in lexington Park, Maryland- Finished 3rd. 1975 Little League division won the District 11 Championship. In the states lost the opener 3-2 to chester-deep river-essex.
1976 to 1980
1979 Senior League Boys win the District 11 Championship1980 The senior league Boys win the District 11 Championship.
1981 to 1985
1981 The senior league becomes the district 10/11 championships.1984 Senior League Softball wins the District 11 Championship.
1986 to 1990
1986 Senior League boys win the district 11 championship. And the Softball team wins the district 11 championship.1987 Norwich Nationals won the District 11 Championship. 1988 The Big League Boys win the district 10/11 Title.
1991 to 1995
1991 Norwich Little League Americans division becomes the District 11 Champs. 1994 Norwich Softball becomes CT section 2 champs. Norwich had to beat mystic 6-3, cromwell 7-6 and vernon 6-4 for the title. 1995 Junior League Boys become District 11 Champions.
1996 to 2000
1998 Norwich won the District 11 Championship.1999 The 9/10 baseball won the district 11 championship, winning four straight games. Norwich competed in the state tournament, playing two games.(This was the first year for the 9/10 year old division). The 9/10 Softball also won the district 11 championship, winning four straight games. Competed in the section 2 state tournament playing 3 games. The 11/12 baseball division also won the district 11 title, winning 5 straight games. Norwich competed in the states, playing all the way to the championship game. The Junior League also won the district title, winning 5 straight games. Norwich competed in the statetournament playing in 5 games. The Norwich/Taftville division sat down and reviewed the boundries for the upcoming season. This has not been done since 1978.2000 The 9/10 allstars won the district 11 Championship for the 2nd straight year, defeating SFC 6 to 5 with a game winning (6-4-3) double play to end the game. Norwich competed in 5 games beating plainfield, woodstock, killingly and SFC(2). moved to the states played 2 games. Pepsi becomes the Proud sponsor of little League baseball. 4 New Score boards are installed. Norwich Hosts the junior league State Tournament.
2001 to 2005
2001The 9/10 Softball division wins the district 11 championship, winning 4 straight games. Finished 2 wins and 2 losses in the State tournament. The 11/12 baseball division won the district 11 championship, winning 5 straight games. Norwich moved on to the CT state tournament in simbury. The Junior League boys won 5 straight games to capture the district championship. Norwich went on to capture the the State tournament by winning 4 out of 5 games. Norwich then moved on to the Eastern Regionals Tournament in NJ, loosing in the semi finals. Norwich enters the fall ball program with district 11 little league program. This is a training and development program. Norwich host the Junior league state tournament. The 15/16 SR League boys win 4 games to become district champions. Then moved to the state tournament. 2002 The 15/16 Senior League baseball won 3 games to capture the District 11 title, losing in the states. 9/10 Softball won 6 games to capture the District 11 Title, losing in the states, Junior League Softball won 5 games to capture the Disrtict 11 title, Senior League Softball won 3 games to capture the Disrtict 11 title. 2003 The 11/12 Little League Softball Team won 5 games to win the District 11 Championship, Junior League Softball won 2 of 3 games to capture the District 11 Championship, Junior League Baseball won 6 games to win the District 11 Championship and moved on to capture the CT state Title, senior League Baseball won 3 of 3 games to capture the District 11 title. 2004 The 9/10 Little League Baseball division had 3 wins & 2 losses (Losing in the pool championship to Brooklyn, 11/12 LLBB finished with 4 wins and 1 loss (Lossing in the pool championship to JC, JLBB finished with 3 wins and 1 loss(Losing in the pool championship to Killingly, Killingly later won the district 11 title. 9/10 LLSB finished with 1 win and 4 losses, 11/12LLSB finished with 6 wins and won the District 11 Championship beating SFC, JLSB finished with 2 wins to win the District 11 Championship. 2005 9/10LLBB finished 3 & 1 losing the pool championship to Woodstock, 11/12LLBB finished 3 & 2, JLBB finished with 3 wins and 1 loss (losing the pool championship to J. City. The 9/10 LLSB finished with 1 win and 2 loses, 11/12LLSB no Team entered, JLSB finished 0-2 losing to plainfield/moosup/JCity. SLSB finished 0-2 lossing to killingly/brooklyn.

2006 to 2010
2006: Standings: Softball, SL- District 11 Champions (Manager Janet Roche), JL- No Team entered, 11-12 LL- No team entered, 9-10 LL won the District 11 Championship, (Manager Fred Stone). Baseball: 9/10 LL- 3 wins, 2 loses, loosing in the pool championship game (Manager Bob Perras), 11/12LL- 3 wins – 2 loses (Manager Tim Milton), 13/14JL- 3 wins-1 loss (Lost in pool Championship to Brooklyn (Manager Tom Nickerson). 15/16SL-No Team entered. “B” All stars played in (WYO) Windham Youth Organization July 10-16 and then again in the district 11 tournament July 19. District 11 Champions. (Manager Kelly LaCombe). 13 JL “B” Allstars (WYO), Manager Doug Barlow.
1965 Senior League Baseball Celerbrate 40th Anniversity
The Norwich American Senior League Allstars Celebrates the 40th Anniversity of playing in the World Series in Desmoines, Iowa. The team captured the State Tournament with a 4-0 record beating Bridgeport East, Bridge Port West, Norwich Nationals and Thompsonville. In the New England Tournament they recorded a 2-0 with wins to Burrillville RI and Canton Mass. Eastern Regionals Tournament the Norwich American SL went 2-0 again beating North Edison NJ and Bristol Boro Pa. In the World Series they did just as well going 1-1, winning to Merrillville Ind and losing to El Campo Texas. The Final World Series standings was Monterrey Mexico 2-0, ElCampo Texas 2-1, Norwich CT 1-1, Merrillville Ind 1-2, Stoney Creek Ont 0-1, San Jose Calf 0-1.The Team was lead by manager Ray Peccini and Coach Jack Lonardelli. Players Bruce Tedeschi, Michael DeBartolo, William Chornoby, Ken Fischburg, Richard Joray, John Herz, William Frye, Doug Smith, Pete Slosberg, Paul Thornton, Craig Malogrides, Ron Perrault, Brian Glenney and Charles Magoon. This team advanced further than any other local team. Special thanks to the manager, coach, players, parents and the many volunteers of the NLL program.

To All,
If you would like to Manage or Coach for the 2009 Season, you will need to fill out all of the forms in the Handouts-Forms Folder and return as soon as possible. You can mail all forms and signed with a copy of your drivers license and the 2009 Volunteer Application. I also added a Baseball Clinic at NFA, this should be a great clinic and you can being your little baseball player for free.
