At the sectional competition for the 2009 Pitch, Hit and Run, North Venice players won 5 of the 12 medals awarded in 4 different age groups.  Xan G. of the Major Yankees won the 9-10 year old division.  If his score is high enough among other sectional winners, he will compete at Dodger Stadium later this season.

Other medal winners included: Jake C. of the Farm Yankees (2nd place, 7-8 year olds); Nick A. of the Major Braves (2nd place, 9-10 year olds); Kevin N. of the Major Yankees (3rd place, 11-12 year olds); and Tristan P. of the Junior Dodgers (2nd place, 13-14 year olds).

In the first three years of holding the Pitch, Hit and Run competition, North Venice has sent five players through the sectional competition and on to compete at Dodger and Angel Stadiums.  Only four kids in each age group reach this level at the 30 major league parks across the country.  North Venice competitors earned four first-place finishes and one second-place finish at this level.  Last but not least, in 2007 one NVLL'er, Keaton Frey, finished in the top 4 scores nationwide, which earned him the right to compete at the Major League All-Star game.  Not bad for a three-year track record!  Check back to see how the 2009 local winners do at sectionals and possibly beyond.

Having completed our fourth local competition, North Venice now has a long enough history to have a "record book."  Below are the top scores for each category in each age group, through our 2009 competition.  For pitching, we show the most strikes thrown in 6 attempts.  For hitting, the records are the furthest hits off a batting tee.  For running, the times are for 160 feet (from approximately shortstop on the Junior field), through 3rd base, to home.
