***** WHAT PARENTS SAY ABOUT OUR HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS *****

    - When my child returned to her hockey program last fall, everyone kept asking what she had done to improve so much. I told them she had participated in your Spring and Summer programs which she thought were so much fun and obviously greatly improved her hockey skills

    - Nice to see North Shore Hockey Alumni playing at all levels including Division 1 Colleges and the NHL! Your program is the only one where all players have an opportunity to skate every Spring and Summer with not only all levels of players, including some future stars, but also with family and friends!

     - Thank you for an outstanding spring and summer. All of my kids had a great time and my daughter for the first time is really interested in playing hockey.

     - Great program. My son will be playing his third year of Hockey East. Much of his development occurred during off-seasons at North Shore Hockey. Excellent coaching staff in a stress-free enviroment. Lots of fun!

    - I can always count on your programs to help all my kids from my younger first year player to my older high school player. Your experience in all aspects of training and development and motivation make sure each child is the best they can be!

***** WHAT KIDS SAY ABOUT OUR HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS *****

     - I get to play on the same team as my brother, sister and my friends

     - We wish we could do this all year and not just spring and summer!

     - I can't wait until next time to see my friends and coaches!

Then it takes desire, determination, discipline and self-sacrifice. And finally, it takes a great deal of love, fairness and respect for your fellow man. Put all these together, and even if you don't win, how can you lose?" ---Jesse Owens

USA Hockey H1N1 Update

USA Hockey, with the counsel of Dr. Michael Stuart, its chief medical officer, issued the following information regarding the H1N1 infection, including recommendations to reduce the likelihood of spreading the infection. USA Hockey recommends:
  • Providing individual water bottles for players and not sharing water bottles.
  • Regularly washing hands.
  • Cleaning workout gear for each practice/competition.
  • Keeping gloves on during the traditional handshake with opponents
Individuals with influenza may develop typical signs or symptoms, including: fever (102 degrees fahrenheit or greater), cough, muscle aches, runny nose, headache or sore threat, with the potential for more serious complications, including pneumonia.

This year's influenza virus strain has particularly affected children and young adults. Transmission of the influenza virus may occur from the day before the onset of symptoms and during the five-to-seven days that the symptoms are present.

Infected individuals should stay home until signs and symptoms have resolved, with no fever present for at least 24 hours.
The 24-hour no-fever timeline should be achieved naturally, without the aid of fever reducing medications.

Additional information regarding H1N1 is available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

***** IMPACT OF COACHES *****

           IMPACT OF COACHES
I have come to the frightening conclusion.
I am the decisive element on the ice.
It is my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather.
As a coach, I possess tremendous power to make
a child's life miserable or joyous.
I can be the tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration.
I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.
In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be
escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized.
