***** WHAT PARENTS SAY ABOUT OUR HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS *****

    - When my child returned to her hockey program last fall, everyone kept asking what she had done to improve so much. I told them she had participated in your Spring and Summer programs which she thought were so much fun and obviously greatly improved her hockey skills

    - Nice to see North Shore Hockey Alumni playing at all levels including Division 1 Colleges and the NHL! Your program is the only one where all players have an opportunity to skate every Spring and Summer with not only all levels of players, including some future stars, but also with family and friends!

     - Thank you for an outstanding spring and summer. All of my kids had a great time and my daughter for the first time is really interested in playing hockey.

     - Great program. My son will be playing his third year of Hockey East. Much of his development occurred during off-seasons at North Shore Hockey. Excellent coaching staff in a stress-free enviroment. Lots of fun!

    - I can always count on your programs to help all my kids from my younger first year player to my older high school player. Your experience in all aspects of training and development and motivation make sure each child is the best they can be!

***** WHAT KIDS SAY ABOUT OUR HIGHLY RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS *****

     - I get to play on the same team as my sister and my friends

     - We wish we could do this all year and not just spring and summer!

     - I can't wait until next time!

Cross-Ice Hockey: The Advantages of Cross-Ice Practicing and Playing - From USA Hockey Article

Cross Ice Hockey is designed to maximize the development of the skills necessary to allow continued improvement in the traditional game of ice hockey.  The cross ice hockey game is played across the rink's width in one zone, 4-on -4, 3-on-3 or 2-on-2, depending on the number of skaters.  We may organize some 3-on-2 situations to allow the kids a chance to figure out on their own how best to use the extra attacker to their advantage.  There is no stoppage of play and no checking.  This game encourages creativity, quick footwork, slick stick handling and, most importantly of all, quick thinking!

The USA Hockey Cross-Ice program is based on a model of practicing and playing hockey across the ice surface as compared to practicing and playing lengthwise along the full length of the ice surface. This cross-ice practicing and playing model has been used in many of the leading hockey nations in the world for a number of years and has stood the test of time. It has been shown that children who begin their hockey training in this environment have an outstanding hockey experienceMore to follow in next newsletter or for a full version, email sportsresources@att.net.

"In the end, it's extra effort that separates a winner from second place. But winning takes a lot more than that, too. It starts with complete command of the fundamentals. Then it takes desire, determination, discipline and self-sacrifice. And finally, it takes a great deal of love, fairness and respect for your fellow man. Put all these together, and even if you don't win, how can you lose?" ---Jesse Owens

***** IMPACT OF COACHES *****

           IMPACT OF COACHES
I have come to the frightening conclusion.
I am the decisive element on the ice.
It is my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather.
As a coach, I possess tremendous power to make
a child's life miserable or joyous.
I can be the tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration.
I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal.
In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be
escalated or de-escalated and a child humanized or dehumanized.
