Softball Tryouts Postponed
Due to the upcoming storm predicted for the next 3 days, we will be postponing softball tryouts until next Saturday, February 13th from 9 to noon at La Entrada High. THERE WILL BE NO TRYOUTS THIS WEEKEND (2/6). All girls ages 7-12 who plan on playing in the Minor or Major divisions are required to attend tryouts. You must be there to register at 9am, once you have tried out, you will be able to go home. Pitchers may be asked to stay a little longer. Farm division is NOT required to try out and will not need to attend.
Last Minute Registration:
If you have not already completed a Registration form, we will be taking last minute sign ups at Brooktree Park this Saturday, 2/6 from 9-noon rain or shine. We have a few spots still available, if you have a friend who wishes to play, have her come out to registration on Saturday too.
It looks like we will be making some changes to the rules for the Minor Division. Although they are not final, we will most likely be implementing the following changes to last year’s play:
1) NO COACH PITCHING, walks will be allowed, only players will pitch
2) STEALING WILL BE ALLOWED, not just advancing on a passed ball
My hope is that our girls will start learning a more competitive game to be more consistent with other organizations. If you have elected to have your child play in the Minor League, but feel she is not quite ready, please let me know. We have room on our Farm Team which does still use Coach Pitchers.
