Section II

*To qualify as a head coach of a team, the prospect must be either nineteen years of age or a high school graduate.

*All coaches will be required to fill out a background check form prior to the start of the season.

*Prior to the start of the season, all coaches must purchase a NNH coach's shirt. This will keep all teams uniformed & will also allow the Officials to know exactly who the coaches are during the game. No persons will be allowed on the bench during the game without their coach's shirt. The Officials will enforce this rule & will not allow a coach on the bench without a coaching shirt.

*Each team is limited to one assistant coach to be approved prior to the season opening game.

*Any coach that leaves his/her bench during the game will be subject to ejection.

*Two technical fouls in a game on a team's coaching staff will automatically result in the expulsion of the head coach of that team from the gym for the remainder of the game. If ejected from the game, the coach will be suspended from the gym for the following game.

*Coaches must stay within the coach's box at all times (except time-outs & between quarters). The coach's box will be the length of the player's bench. Violation of this rule is an automatic technical foul.

*Each team will be restricted to a maximum of 9 players with any exceptions to be ruled on by the Board. There will be no maximum of players on Open teams.

*The visiting team will provide the clock operator for each game. The home team will provide the official score book keeper for each game. If there is a discrepancy in the clock or the scorebook, the game Officials will have the final say on which way to proceed. In tournament play, the NNH will be responsible for providing the official scorekeeper & clock operator.

*The visiting/home team is to provide their line-up to the official scorekeeper 15 minutes prior to the start of the game.

*Conduct unacceptable of a coach, player or parent during league play or practice will be brought before the Board for disciplinary action.

     A. For the offense of intentional fighting; coach, player or parent will be removed from the game and will result in automatic expulsion from the NNH for the remainder of the season.

    B. Filthy or degrading language and/or hand signs from coaches, players or parents will result in expulsion from the game at the discretion of the Official.

    C. Any coach, player or parents actions that result in an expulsion from the game will automatically be suspended from the next game as well. If a second expulsion is acquired during the season, the coach, player or parent involved will automatically be suspended for the remainder of the season.

    D. The detection of alcohol or illegal substance on players, coaches or parents will result in the immediate expulsion of the party from the gym. The degree of further action will be at the discretion of the Board.

*Each board member, head coach, assistant coach & parent is required to sign the NNH code of ethics prior to the beginning of the season. Board members, coaches, players & parents are expected to show good sportsmanship at all times. They are to conduct themselves in agreement with the NNH code of ethics. Our Officials have the authority to throw anyone out of a game or gym at any time. Coach or parent problems will not be tolerated!! These games are for the kids, not the parents or coaches.

Section III:

*In the Rec Division all players will be equally distributed to teams in their grade divisions to form balanced teams of talent & ability. It is the intention of the NNH that all the teams be competitive. Players will be evaluated by the coaches in each division. At this point a draft of all players will take place unless a player has "signed" with a particular team. Only one player per team will be allowed to "sign" with each team. There is a form that the coach and the parent/guardian will be required to sign before the draft process. Signees do not have to attend the evaluations as long as the player-coach agreement has already been signed & turned into the NNH. The draft process will work as follows:

  • In preK/K ONLY, all player's can request a particular coach or to play with other players. The NNH will do our best to honor all request.
  • Only players that show up for evaluations will be drafted in all division except preK/K. If a player is not at evaluations, then that player will go in a blind draw at the end of the draft.
  • Any head coach that has a son/daughter will be placed on the coaches team & will count as that teams final round draft pick.
  • Any coach that has a second son/daughter and/or sibling of another player that has been drafted will count as that teams third round draft pick.
  • Any coach that has a third son/daughter and/or sibling of another player that has been drafted will count as that teams second round draft pick. If the sibling was drafted after the second round, the sibling will count as the teams next round draft pick.
  • Any coach that has more than three sons/daughters and/or siblings of another drafted player, will be counted as the teams fourth round draft pick and so on until all sons/daughters and/or siblings are accounted for.
  • If a particular coach has not "signed" a player, he will automatically get an extra first round pick in the draft before the other coaches begin to draft. At this point, each team will draw numbers to determine the order of the draft for the first round. The second round will go in reverse order of the first round. At the beginning of the third round, numbers will be drawn again. For the fourth round, it will go in reverse order of the third round. This same process will also take place in the fifth & sixth round, as well as the seventh & eighth round if needed.

*All teams & players will be disallowed from player placement unless the registration fee has been paid.

*All play will be by TSSAA rules with the exceptions of included NNH rules.

*Each team will be allowed two (2) time outs per half and one (1) additional time out per overtime period. Unused time outs from the first half will not be carried over to the second half. Unused time outs from the second half may be carried over to overtime play. Each time out will be one (1) minute in duration.

*Each player will be required to play two (2) complete quarters in each game. In addition, each player will be required to sit out one (1) complete quarter each game. A coach may start whomever he/she wants and substitute at will after each player has played the mandatory two (2) quarter minimum.

*Each team will have a minimum of five (5) players to start the game, except in the training league where they will play 3 on 3.

*Each player & coach is to have his/her shirt tucked in at all times while the game is in play. Officials will enforce this policy. The NNH desires for all teams to look presentable during game play.

*In the event of a tie for first place for the regular season play, the first tie breaker will be head-to-head competition. The second tie breaker will be won/loss record for both teams. If games are equally split, then a toss of the coin will determine the 1st & 2nd place teams for the end of the season tournament.
