The North Georgia Falcons had a very successful 2007 season.  With seniors Caleb Jefferson, Austin Gray, Reggie Cherry and Jordan Whitmire, the Falcons had a winning record and made it to the playoffs for the 4th year in a row.  Despite what was considered to be a rebuilding year back before the season started, the Falcons surprised everyone in the GFL by playing aggressive defense and a wide open offense.  Running back Caleb Jefferson led the offense.  QB Robert Davis led the team to victories in the first 3 games before an injury sidelined him until the last game of the season (playoffs).  Tim Howard and Austin Gray took over the QB spot and were successful in leading the team.  Andrew Warneke led the defense from his middle linebacker position.  The Falcons played alot of players and were very young in age both on offense and defense.  The Falcons middle school were unbeaten, so the future is bright for the Falcons.  The 2008 Falcons should be formitable.

2007 GFL Playoffs

NCC 24 North Georgia 2

The Falcons finished the 2007 season in third place and were seeded #3 for the playoffs where they met the NCC Crusaders.  The Falcons played a great first half with good defense and several good drives on offense.  However, after a NCC punt that backed up the Falcons to the 10 yard line, Tim Howard's option pitch was fumbled and NCC recovered.  A staunch Falcon's defense was able to hold NCC to a field goal instead of a touchdown.  NCC led 3-0 early in the game.  Both teams traded drives and punts with neither team able to score for the remainder of the first and all of the second quarter.  Halftime score was NCC 3 North Georgia 0.  NCC took the opening kickoff and drove the length of the field with RB Ryan Kleckley scoring on a run.  Peter Yu kicked the extra point
and NCC led 10-0.  Both teams moved the ball, but fumbles and penalties kept the Falcons from sustaining any drive.  In the fourth quarter, a Robert Davis fumble gave NCC good field position.  Kleckley ran thru 4 would-be Falcon tacklers on his way to a touchdown.  Yu was good on the kick making the score 17-0.  The last NCC score came after the Falcons had driven all the way down to the 8 yard line where a fumble was recovered by NCC.  Several plays later, Kleckley pass to Jordan Barrett who outran the Falcon secondary for a 63 yard TD.  Yu was again good on the extra point.  NCC 24 Falcons 0.  The Falcons were able to tackle Kleckley in the end zone late in the 4th quarter to make the final score NCC 24 North Georgia 2.

 North Georgia 42 Bartow 13 (non-GFL game)

The Falcons played the Bartow Generals in a non-GFL game on Friday, Oct 26th.  With Austin Gray at quarterback, the Falcons got on the board after the opening kick when Austin ran 40 yard on a QB sweep.  Robert Davis kicked the extra point to go up 7-0. Caleb Jefferson scored on the next Falcon possession with Robert Davis kicking the extra point making the score 14-0 in favor of the Falcons.  Andrew Warneke got on the scoreboard on a 80 yard run.  Robert was good on the extra point to go up 21-0.  Austin Gray scored again on a short run with Reggie Cherry adding the extra point.  Falcons 28-0 which was the halftime score.  In the second half, Bartow got on the board on a short run making the score 28-6.  Later Bartow was able to score again to make the score 28-13.  The Falcons then scored on a Austin Gray to Robert Davis pass.  The Falcons connected on the 2-point attemp when Gabe Jefferson caught a pass from Tim Howard.  Falcons 36-13.  Tim Howard scored the last touchdown on a run and the extra point kick failed, making the final score 42-13.

Crown 28 North Georgia 7

The Falcons stormed onto the field and marched down the field.  A long pass by Tim Howard to Karter Brown looked like the Falcons would be first and goal on the 4 yard line, but a penalty took the ball back to the 45 yard line.  On the next play, Crown intercepted and returned the ball to the 22.  Crown then scored when Nick Pretty pass was caught by his favorite receiver in the end zone.  Crown led 7-0 when the extra point kick was good.  On the kickoff, the Falcons fumbled and Crown recovered.  Crown immediately went to the air and scored again to go up 14-0.  The Falcons were able to stop the Crown for the remainder of the half, but several drives by North Georgia were stalled by interceptions.  Just before halftime, the Falcons went on a drive and Tim Howard was able to take it in from 8 yards.  Reggie Cherry kick the extra point to make the score 14-7.  The Falcons had the momentum going in to halftime.  The Falcons kicked off to Crown to begin the second half and it looked good for the Falcons as they were able to pin Crown back for a 3rd and long, however, Crown ran a misdirection counter/reverse and the Falcons were unable to contain the runner.  Crown had scored and had the momentum again as the score now was 21-7.  The Falcons took the kickoff with David Ross returning the ball to midfield.  With good running by Tim Howard and Caleb Jefferson, the Falcons marched down the field, however, a bad handoff resulted in a fumble and Crown recovered.  Both teams went back and forth, but again Crown was able to score on a short pass by Pretty to Apon.  Score 28-7.

North Georgia 19 NCA 14

NCA got on the scoreboard quickly on a long TD pass to go up 6-0.  The Falcons came back in the 2nd quarter to make the score 6-6 at the half.  Caleb Jefferson was able to score on a short run.  In the second half, the Falcons scored again as Caleb Jefferson again took it in on a run.  The Falcons led 12-6.  The Falcons went up 19-6 when Tim Howard scored from 8 yards.  Reggie Cherry was successful on the extra point kick.  The Falcons had this lead until the final few seconds of the game when NCA was able to score on a pass and run in the 2-pt attempt.  This made the final score 19-14

NCC 19 Falcons 6

The Falcons travelled to McDonough and played a great game, however, two big plays by NCC and three interceptions (2 in the end zone) killed the Falcons chances to win.  NCC scored first on a long pass and the extra point was successful by Peter Yu to make the score 7-0.  The Falcons scored on a short run by Caleb Jefferson.  The Falcons went for a two point attempt but were stopped.  NCC lead 7-6.  NCC went up in the 4th quarter 13-6 and late in the game, it looked like the Falcons were going to score as they drove down to the 22 yard line.  However a pass into the end zone was intercepted, stopping the Falcons.  NCC was able to score on a long run to make the final score 19-6.

Falcons survive East Atlanta 12-6

It was one of those games where the Falcons looked like they were in control going up 6-0 on Tim Howard's 5 yard run and then 12-0 when Howard returned an interception 94 yards on the next series of plays early in the 2nd quarter.  It stayed that way until the 4th quarter
when the Mustangs connected on a Blake Jones to Joseph Hawkins pass for a score and suddenly it was 12-6.  The Falcons could not move the ball as penalties snuffed out any gains that were made.  East Atlanta had several chances, but couldn't capitalize.  The Falcon defense played well again giving up just the one score.

Force narrowly defeats Falcons 12-0

The Falcons defense did a great job of stopping the potent Force offense, but the offense wasn't able to score on the formidable Force defense especially after QB Robert Davis was injured early in the second quarter.  The Falcons threated to score in the first quarter by driving to the 20 yard line, however, a field goal by Davis fell short.  The Falcon defense kept the Force stymied all night and it wasn't until midway thru the 3rd quarter that the Force were able to score.  The big play in the drive was a Michael Francis to Blake Bowers pass that got the Force to the 10 yard line.  On 4th down and goal from the 3, the Force elected to go for the touchdown and were successful when Michael  France hit Blake Coughlin on a slant route for the touchdown to go up 6-0.  The score stayed this way until 5:25 left in the game when Francis again hooked up with Bowers this time on a long pass for the touchdown.  This made the score 12-0 and secured the victory for the Force.  The Falcons defense had played a terrific game.  The offense was plagued by several crucial penalties that negated a number of good plays.  With Tim Howard and Austin Gray took over for Robert Davis after the injury and they did a good job of moving the ball for the Falcons, but time and time again penalties stopped a good drive and the Falcons were not able to score.

North Georgia blitzes Bartow 35-8

The Falcons varsity and middle school teams travelled to Cartersville in the pouring rain, but before game time the clouds cleared and the evening was great for football.  On the Falcon's opening possession they drove the field with Caleb Jefferson scoring from the 4 yard line. Robert Davis tacked on the extra point and North Georgia led 7-0. On the next possession, Bartow was backed up against their end zone and took a safety. North Georgia 9 Bartow 0. The Falcons took the kickoff and scored again, this time on a Robert Davis to Austin Gray pass of 27 yards. Davis' kick was no good and the Falcons led 15-0. In the second quarter, Adam Stephens hooked up with Austin Gray for a 15 yard touchdown pass and Davis added the extra point. Falcons 22-0. Bartow couldn't do anything offensively and punted back to the Falcons. Robert Davis then threw a short pass to Caleb Jefferson who eluded a number of Bartow tacklers on his way to a 54 yard touchdown. Davis was good on the extra point kick and the Falcons led 29-0. This was the halftime score. In the third period, the Falcon's Tim Howard ran 46 yards for a touchdown to give the Falcons a 35-0 lead. In the fourth quarter, Bartow tackled Caleb Jefferson in the end zone for a safety. Falcons 35 Bartow 2. Bartow got the ball back and then drove down the field with Bartow quarterback Andrew Kolodziejski scoring from one yard out. Final score: North Georgia 35 Bartow 8

Jonathan Ling in game against Christian Heritage

North Georgia 29 Christian Heritage 28

The Falcons roared back from a 28-14 deficit with 3:51 seconds to go in the fourth quarter, to score two touchdowns and a 2-pt conversion to edge Christain Heritage.  The Lions took an early lead when Jarred Cronan ran 47 yards for a score and then Taylor Grey added the extra point to make it 7-0.  Caleb Jefferson scored for the Falcons from 54 yards out and Robert Davis added the extra point to tie the game.  Christian Heritage went up 14-7 when QB John Pierce hit brother, Daniel, for a 22 yard touchdown pass and Grey added the extra point.  That was the halftime score. Robert Davis got the Falcons on the board again with a 10 yard td run early in the 3rd quarter and also added the extra point to make it 14-14.  Another drive by the Lions ended with a 22 yard td run by Jarred Cronan and with Grey's extra point, the Lions led 21-14.  The Lions stopped the Falcons and took over as the 4th quarter began.  They were able to hold onto the ball and drive it downfield for another score, this time from 4 yards out.  The extra point was good and with 6:25 left in the game Christian Heritage led 28-14.  The Falcons received the kickoff and drove the field, scoring on a 22 yard pass from Robert Davis to Austin Gray.  The extra point kick was good and the Falcons trailed 28-21 with 3:51 to go in the game.  The Lions recovered the onside kick and it looked like all they needed to do was run out the clock.  They picked up 12 yards on a running play for a first down.  Then Andrew Warneke of the Falcons had the "play of the day" as he tackled the Lion's running back and was able to take the ball away from him.  With 3:08 left, the Falcons had the ball.  Tim Howard hooked up with Karter Brown for 10 yards and a first down.  Robert Davis connected with Andrew Warneke for 17 yards.  Davis then hit Howard for another 16 yard gain and the Falcons had the ball at the 22 with 36 seconds to play.  With 17 seconds on the clock, Robert Davis found Andrew Warneke in the end zone for the touchdown and the score was Christian Heritage 28 North Georgia 27.  What would the Falcons do: go for the tie by kicking the ball or go for the win?  The Falcons went for the win.  QB Robert Davis lined up and sweep to the right.  Blocks by Caleb Jefferson, Austin Carr and Andrew Warneke, allowed Robert to get to the end zone, giving the Falcons a big come from behind thrilling victory!  The Falcon players never gave up and believed they could win this game.

The North Georgia Falcons opened the 2007 Football Season with a 30-0 win over the Paulding Panthers.  The Falcon defense played a stellar game with 4 interceptions and 2 fumble recoveries.  Tim Howard had 2 interceptions, Robert Davis and Caleb Jefferson had one each.  Robert Davis had a fumble recovery as did Andrew Warneke.  The Falcon offense was able to score twice in the second quarter when Caleb Jefferson set up the score with an interception and return to the 5 yard line.  Caleb scored on a 1 yard run to make the score 6-0.  Robert Davis added the extra point with a good kick.  Paulding gave the Falcons great field possession on the next series when a bad snap on the punt cause the punter to have to run out of the end zone to the 6 yard line.  Andrew Warneke was able to score on a 5 yard run.  Robert Davis threw to Tim Howard to score 2 points on the conversions.  Falcons 15-0
The third quarter saw the Falcons extent their lead as the Caleb Jefferson scored from 5 yards out to make the score 21-0.  Early in the 4th quarter, the Falcons drove to the 18 yard line.  Robert Davis then kicked a 34 yard field goal to make the score 24-0.  Tim Howard completed the scoring by picking off an interception and returning it 94 yards for a score.

2006 North Georgia Falcons

The end of the 2006 season is also the end of the career of five seniors who helped start the Falcon football program. Josh Veal, Jordan McDaniel, Michael St.Denis, Dane Tadsen and Tim Famillette will always be remember with fond memories and for having been instramental in winning a national championship.

North Georgia Varsity                                                               JV/Middle School

The North Georgia Falcons concluded our 2006 season with an invitation to compete in the NACA National Football Tournament with the Varsity team playing in Division 3 and the JV/middle school team playing in the first NACA Jr. High Division. NACA stands for National Association of Christian Athletes.

The Falcons varsity played the first game against Mountain Empire Baptist from Bristol, Tn. and lost 40-8. The game was played in the mud and we committed many mistakes that gave the Mountaineers an easy win. We then played the Cabarrus Stallions from the Charlotte, NC area and won 66-54 in an exciting game that took almost 4 hours to play. In the final game of his high school career and on his birthday, Josh Veal scored 9 TDs (5 on runs, 2 on kick returns, 1 on a pass reception and 1 on a pass)and he also had a 2-point conversion. It was his best game ever. Josh was given the "Best Quarterback" award and made the NACA All-American team. This was the third year in a row that Josh was selected "Best Quarterback" and named to the NACA All-American team. Senior Michael St.Denis was selected to the NACA All-Tournament team for the third year in a row. Michael was also playing his last game of his career and scored a touchdown on a pass from Josh Veal. Robert Davis was given the "Best Kicker" award and made the NACA All-American team. Caleb Jefferson was selected to the NACA All-Tournament team. The Falcons finish earned them a third place trophy for the 2006 NACA Division 3 National Tournament. The Falcons won the 2005 NACA Division 4 Championship and were the 2nd place team for the 2004 NACA Division 4. The Falcons played without senior Jordan McDaniel, senior Dane Tadsen and senior Isaac Scheidt, which would have made a significant difference in the outcome. We will miss our seniors: Jordan McDaniel, Josh Veal, Michael St.Denis, Dane Tadsen and Isaac Scheidt.

The Falcons JV/middle school team competed in the NACA Jr High Division and lost 20-8 against the Springfield Chargers from Missouri. They also lost to the Asheville Saints from NC 28-8. It was a great experience for the "Falcons pups" as they played against true Jr. High teams while having more of a middle school team. Despite being smaller and younger, they put up a great fight and had great sportsmanship which both winning coaches expressed to the team after each game. A tribute to the type of character each of these boys possess.

North Georgia nips NCC 26-24

Friday, the 13th at first, appeared unlucky for the Falcons from North Georgia as on the opening kickoff, Jordan McDaniel, went down with a severe knee injury. McDaniel is one of the captains and plays middle linebacker and running back for the Falcons. In no time at all, the NCC Crusaders air assault struck quickly with touchdowns on their first two possessions to take a 12-0 lead on the passing of Ryan Singer, one touchdown pass was to Stephan Moore and the other to Josh Thompson. The Falcons then drove down the field and a Josh Veal to Robert Davis touchdown made it 12-6 in favor of NCC. Another Ryan Singer pass, this time to Jordan Taylor, led to a touchdown and NCC was up 18-6. NCC again drove the field, however, Caleb Jefferson intercepted a pass in the end zone and the Falcons had new life. A few minutes later, Josh Veal's pass to Isaac Scheidt in the end zone cut the lead to 18-12 at the half.

Both teams moved the ball up and down the field, but neither could score in the third quarter. With 11:10 in the fourth quarter, the Falcons again scored on a Josh Veal pass to Isaac Scheidt to tie the score. This time Robert Davis was good on the extra point kick and the Falcons led for the first time 19-18. On the next possession NCC looked like they would take back the lead as they drove down the field, however, Josh Veal recovered a fumble at the 2 yard line to stop the drive. On the next play, Veal rambled 78 yards and set up another touchdown pass. This time the score came on a Josh Veal to Michael St.Denis pass to make it 25-18. Robert Davis added the extra point kick and the Falcons led 26-18. NCC wasn't done yet as Ryan Singer pass to Miles Hammond in the end zone made the score 26-24 and set up a 2-pt attempt by NCC. Ryan Singer's attempt to make it into the end zone fell short. NCC had one last possession and they were able to drive into Falcon territory, but they came up short and the Falcons won 26-24 in one of the most exciting game of the season. The Falcons improved their record to 6-2

With God, there is no such thing as luck or unlucky, but there are such things as miracles! Turns out Jordan McDaniel did injure his knee, but miraclulously, there are no torn ligaments as originally suspected.

North Georgia defeats NCA 46-16 to raise record to 5-2

Falcons scored on their first possession on a 46 yard TD run by Caleb Jefferson. Josh Veal threw to Michael St.Denis for the two point conversion to make it 8-0. On the Falcons next possession, Jefferson went 65 yards for the score and the Falcons led 14-0. The third time the Falcons had the ball, Veal completed a 19 yard pass to Isaac Scheidt for the score (20-0). Jordan McDaniel made it 26-0 on a 2 TD yard run after gaining 34 yards two plays earlier. NCA got on the board with a 40 yard touchdown pass from James Roy to Wes Harmon. The two point attempt was good by James Roy 26-8. Another Josh Veal to Michael St.Denis pass scored the next TD to make it 32-8, then a Veal to Scheidt pass of 15 yards scored to make it 38-8. A Veal to Dane Tadsen pass was good for the 2-pt conversion making it 40-8. Tim Famillette intercepted a pass setting up the final Falcons scored in which he caught a pass from Veal and lateralled to McDaniel who took it in from 26 yards for the score. Falcons 46 NCA 8. Ben Malik of the NCA Lions then picked up a fumble and ran 60 yards for a touchdown to make it 46-14. The 2-point attempt was good by Jessie Stoutzenberger to make the final score 46-16.

Force rips Falcons 50-7

On a night where the weather said football and with a crowd that looked as impressive as any high school football game in America, the Force rolled over the Falcons like a ball on a ski slope. The only score for the Falcons came in the first quarter when Josh Veal eluded a number of Force tacklers and ran 38 yards for a score. At the time, the Force led 12-0 and after Robert Davis added the extra point kick the Falcons were only down 12-7. However, the Force offense rolled up lots of yards and touchdowns as they were able to get to the outside of the Falcons defense time and time again.

North Georgia beats Bartow 39-0

In a game that both teams needed to win in order to position themselves for the playoffs, the Falcons came out on top. Both teams started out tight as Bartow fumbled on the kickoff and Robert Davis recovered the ball for the Falcons. Two plays later, the Generals Enrico Welborn stripped the ball away and Bartow took over. On the next play, Josh Veal of the Falcons recovered a fumble at the 35. The Falcons then drove in for the first touchdown on a 1 yard run by Robert Davis. Davis kicked the extra point and the Falcons led 7-0. The Falcons kicked off and Bartow ran three plays and then had to punt. Veal returned to punt to the 50 yard line. On first down, Robert Davis connected with Isaac Scheidt for a 50 yard touchdown pass. The Davis kick was good and the Falcons led 14-0 still in the first quarter. Still in the first quarter, Josh Veal scored on a 13 yard run and the extra point kick was good again. Falcons led 21-0. The second quarter saw each team trade possesions, but neither scored. Halftime score 21-0. The Falcons took the second half kickoff at their own 42 and 3 plays later scored on a 17 yard touchdown run by Jordan McDaniel. The kick was no good, Falcons 27 Bartow 0. McDaniel, three plays later, returned a fumble 38 yards to the 6 yard line. Caleb Jefferson caught a pass from Robert Davis and scored to make it 33-0. Later, Jefferson intercepted a pass and ran 18 yards to the 2 yard line. Jordan McDaniel ran the ball in for the final score to make it 39-0.

Christian Heritage stuns North Georgia 24-22

The Falcons lost a thriller to the Lions making mental mistakes that cost them field position and resulted in losing a fumble on the 2 yard line that made it easy for the Lions to score and take the lead in the second half of the game. Ultimately, it was the Falcons mistakes and the ball control of the Lions that led to this defeat.

Josh Veal had another good ball game running for 125 yards, scoring 2 touchdowns and a 2-pt conversion. Robert Davis scored on an 18 yard run and made two extra point kicks. Jordan McDaniel and Josh led the defense, however, the Lions didn't lose a fumble or throw an interceptions and were able to grind out first downs and touchdowns that doomed the Falcons.

Everyone who suited up got to play for the second week in a row as the offense continued to open holes while the defense shut out the opposing team for the second straight week.
