The Northern Illinois Lightning Fastpitch Softball Organization will be conducting a softball skills camp for girls ages 8-16 on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18-19, at Judson University in Elgin. Instructors for the camp include: Anne Vogt, head softball coach at Larkin High School and longtime private instructor; Becky Pearl, head coach at Judson University, 2011 CCAC and NFCA Region Coach of the Year and private instructor; and Jaci Corn, head coach at St. Edward High School, Lightning 18U manager and private instructor. The camp, which will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day, will focus on offensive and defensive skills, such as hitting, bunting, slapping, baserunning, fielding and throwing. Cost of the camp is $75 per day, or both days for $125. Players will need to bring their own equipment and water. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. THE LIGHTNING WILL ALSO HOST A USA/ASA "A" 18U NATIONAL QUALIFIER ON JUNE 14-16.

Our home field is at Judson University and is located in Elgin, IL. The field includes a press box, dugouts, a 200 ft. outfield fence, 4 sets of field lights, and a pitching bullpen on each outfield foul line. A full-service scoreboard stands in left field featuring # at-bat, balls, strikes, outs, total h/e, as well as home and visitor score-by-inning, hits, runs, and errors. The field currently seats 1,000.
In May of 2008, the field received a new look with grass turf upgrades and a special dirt for the infield. The special dirt for the infield will help with water and is laid atop the Illinois soil. This new dirt is only the third of its kind in the state of Illinois, as DePaul University and Northwestern University softball are the only other two softball fields to receive this dirt. Judson is the first NAIA institution to receive this kind of infield for softball.
