Get Involved!!
We are fortunate that in this part of Seattle we have the business and parental support for such a quality baseball program. Business sponsorship has allowed the program to run for several years as the least expensive Little League in Seattle, and volunteered time by parents and friends of youth baseball run an efficient program. The league is always looking for more parental and community involvement, and we invite you to join us in providing baseball to our children. Here are some of the ways to start volunteering with NCLL:
- Join the Board of Directors. If you've felt like you are in the dark about how the league works, this is a great way to find out, and make decisions for the league. Board meetings are once a month during the season, and you can find out such things as how the draft works, how All-Star teams are chosen, or what new rules are in place from the National Little League.
- Umpire. Umpires for the NCLL are drawn from the community, and it is not an unpleasant task in the NCLL. If you do not have umpiring experience, you can get a start in the 89er and Minor Leagues (either behind the plate or as a field umpire), and get tips from pre-season clinics. Hey, the umpire gets the best view of the game, is involved in every play, and doesn't have to attend practices like the players and coaches!
- District 8 Little League sponsors a free umpire clinic that spans four evenings during the month of February. Check out the http://www.d8umpires.org" District 8 Umpires web site for information about these clinics.
