Highlights from Opening Day!

Opening Day was cold, but everybody was bundled up to play ball! It looked more like winter with our Concession Stand serving hot chocolate and fans and players with mittens hats, and blankets.  But you just never know what the weather will be like.

Special Thanks to all our Board Members, for getting the park ready! If you run into one of them, please make sure and tell them thanks for all their hard work. Or better yet find them or call them just to say thanks.

Hopefully you noticed the improvements to our park: New Batting Cages, Remodeled Restrooms, and an Expanded Concession Stand Menu!

Make sure to let Brian, Alyssha and Connie in the Concessions know how much you appreciate all their work too! They do a great job serving safe, yummy food for those hours at the ballpark! (and of course let them know when you can work)

Let's have pride in our park and keep it looking nice this year.  We have more things we would like to do.  With your help in the concession stand or volunteering to work around the fields, we can keep improving!

Little League Pledge

Pledge

I trust in God
I love my country
And will respect its laws
I will play fair
And strive to win
But win or lose
I will always do my best
The Little League Pledge was written by Peter J. McGovern, the late president of Little League Baseball, in 1954. It made its first appearance in the February 1955 “Little Leaguer” magazine. Its text has remained unchanged in the half-century since then.

The Little League Pledge was drafted after Mr. McGovern became aware that local Little League programs were reciting the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance before games. Mr. McGovern wanted to give all leagues (not just those in the United States) a pledge reflecting some of the sentiments of the Pledge of Allegiance, minus the references to the U.S., while adding the elements of sportsmanship and the desire to excel.

The text of the Little League Pledge was sent to U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower on Feb. 22, 1955. President Eisenhower (and every president since then) was a strong supporter of Little League.

In a response by letter to Mr. McGovern a few days later, President Eisenhower said: “Thank you for…sending me the inspiring and fine pledge that, I understand, will now be repeated at the start of the Little League Baseball games. I am always glad to hear the plans and activities of Little League.”

A recitation of the Little League Pledge was led by President George W. Bush before Tee Ball on the South Lawn games at the White House during his presidency. President Bush first recited the Little League Pledge in 1955 as a Little Leaguer in Midland, Texas.

Meet Brian & Alyssha McCarthy
Concession1

The concession stand is a great money making opportunity for our League; money that could help make improvements, provide scholarships or fund end of the season activities/awards.  Brian and Alyssha McCarthy are parents of a coaches pitch player at North Anderson and are heading up the Concession Stand this year.  They have already done a great job, cleaning and stocking it for Opening Day.  A new freezer and refrigerator have been purchased due to the previous ones finally giving out.

They have also made out a simple volunteer schedule to get the help needed to serve our families and keep the concession stand open during game times.  Each team is responsible to cover a few time slots.  Times are before or after your child's game on Saturdays and during the week.  Some may be on the opposite night as your child's game (i.e. Tue. game/Thurs. concession opening) to ensure everyone still gets to see their player's game!Your teams coach should have passed around a sign-up sheet on Opening Day for you to help.  We are looking into a way to get the open time slots for each team listed on our website.  Until then, please contact Brian and Alyssha at 765-643-2471 or briansangel0201@yahoo.com for open times or check in at the Concession Stand when you are at the ballpark. We will continue to pass around the sign-up sheets as well, until all spots are filled.

And if you see Brian and Alyssha, please thank them for the great job they are doing!

Suggestions are Always Welcome!

Some Rules to Remember

NO SMOKING POLICY

Please remember there is no smoking around the fields or dugouts. Smoking is only permitted in the parking lot areas. Thanks!

 No Parking In Grass

We ask you to please not park in the grassy area behind the dugout and score tower along the drive.  With the amount of rain we receive, there is potential for large, muddy rutts to form.  Thank you for your cooperation and helping us keep our park nice!
