***NOTICE*** Important 2013 Legion Dates to remember:

Next meeting is May 19, 2013  (11:30 AM @ The Jeff's 610 691-6199.) 1002 Linden St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. All teams must be represented. Please be advised that Lehigh Township has dropped out of the league. As such, a new schedule will be produced by Bob Shebelsky, and will be sent to all teams.

Future meetings: June 7 and July 7th. All of these meeting will be held at The Jeff's at 11:30 AM. Our final meeting will be held July 21st, 10:30 AM @ The Wanderers, 308 Woodlawn Ave Bethlehem, PA 18018. (610) 691-9437

At our May 19 meeting, Barry Werley will be conducting league registrations. He will be there at 9:00 AM to start. Please schedule with him @ 610-395-6738 or email Barry3337@aol.com so we don't overlap.

Please contact Bob Shebelsky via email ras@DepuyHoldings.com (NORCO in the subject line so he doesn't delete your message) for schedule changes. We ask that you are firm with your schedule by May 19th. After this you must contact Chick and the Umpire Assigner for any changes that arise.

Deadline to pay for insurance is May 15th.

All Star selections should be sent to John Konawalik at jkab@rcn.com before July 1st.

Coaches: Please fill out the Bill Rogers Memorial Scholarship form to the best of your knowledge and return to one of the committee members prior to July 5. The form can be accessed in the Handouts section.

We will be accepting nominations for the Gene Hartzell Award, given to the outstanding umpire, at our July 7 meeting.

Freemansburg has been selected for the Regionals for 2015, contact Chris Medei at c.medei@benchmarkanalyticslabs.com with ideas for making it a Home Run for NORCO Legion.

Clambake: July 26th @ the Meadows. Please reserve this date. We are inviting all NORCO Legion Hall of Fame members to this event. If you are a member of the HOF, please contact John Bisco @ biscokd@aol.com, if you will be in attendance.

Supervisor of Officials is Frank DeAngelo (fdangelo@bloomu.edu) for the upcoming year. He is responsible for scheduling of umpires for all games. Please stay in touch with him thruout the year for any changes or concerns you may have.

We will have 2 teams in the Regional playoffs, which will be held in Boyertown this year.

We will be compiling a list of wooden bat suppliers to choose from for the upcoming 2013 Season. Wooden bats are mandatory in the 2013 season. Here are links to some of them:

I CANNOT EXPRESS ENOUGH THE CONCERN ABOUT THESE TEAMS GETTING REIGISTERED AND BACKGROUND CHECKS.  WE HAVE ABOUT 3 WEEKS LEFT AND I DON’T THINK WE ARE AT THE HALF WAY POINT YET.  THEY MUST UNDERSTAND THAT THE LATE FEE OF $200 WILL BE ASSESSED IF IT IS AFTER MAY 15.  RIGHT NOW I HAVE TEAMS THAT HAVE REGISTERED BUT NOT BACKGROUND AND ALSO JUST THE OPPOSITE.  I HAVE TEAMS THAT HAVE APPLIED FOR BACKGROUND IN FEBRURY BUT STILL HAVE NOT REGISTERED WITH NATIONAL.

          Northampton County Legion is the first Legion Baseball League in the country, which is requiring all Managers to successfully complete the criminal background check and child abuse background checks in order to coach in the league. We hope to set precedence for all Legion Baseball to soon follow.
