NMAHA Mite #1 Starts the Season with Two Wins
NMAHA Mite #1 (10), NMICE "B" (4)
Mite #1 played their first game of the season against the NMICE Mite B team early Saturday morning. Most of the team was in attendance so we had about 6 players on the bench. Unfortunately the NMICE B team only had one or two subs. Early on it was apparant that the game would be lopsided. About midway through the 1st period Coach Killian opted to take a player off the ice for each shift so that the play was 3 on 4. The final score ended up being 10-4, with Mite #1 picking up their first win.
In the win Marcus Trujillo had a team leading 4 goals and the point leader was Scott Manning with 5 points(2G, 3A). Welcome addition Zachary Ganshaw had a 3 point morning with 1 goal and 2 assists. New skaters also cut their teeth in this game with Braxton Baum at 3 points(2G, 1A), Tuesday Chavez at 2 points(1G, 1A), finally Ben Bock and Scott Leydsman each chalked up an assist.
Seamus Wade was in goal for his third game of the season with a 23 save performance.
----------------
NMAHA Mite #1 (6), NMICE "A" (4)
The second game Saturday morning was very much different than the first. The NMICE "A" team had more subs than the "B" team and it seems their skill level was markedly higher. Needless to say Coach Killian kept 4 players on the ice for each shift!!!
The game was a seesaw battle with the NMAHA team not pulling out ahead for good until the final period. Once again the leading goal scorer was Marcus Trujillo who was also the point leader with (3G, 1A). Scott Manning hit the back of the net twice and Scott Leydsman scored once and also had an assist. Helping out with some amazing passes were Braxton Baum and Zachary Ganshaw with 2 assists each.
Seamus Wade was in goal and stopped 21 shots in the win.
