North Jersey Youth Roller Hockey Association: Safety
EquipmentThe following is taken directly from the NJYRHA Rules and Administrator's Guide:
8.04 Ice Hockey approved helmets (HECC, etc.) with full face shield (cage or plexi glass) and chin strap is required.
8.05 Colored mouthpieces (not clear) that are attached to players helmet must be worn.
8.05a Players who are using mouthpieces mandated by an orthodontist, may be excluded from rule 8.05, provided a letter from physician is on file with the sealed roster.
8.06 Padded hockey gloves are required.
8.07 Full shin and knee protection is required.
8.08 Elbow protection is required.
8.09 A cup is required for all male players.
8.10 Shoulder pads are required (hockey type).
8.11 Sticks may have plastic or wooden blades and must be properly butt-ended. (must not fit through face cage.)
All players at all levels must wear hockey pants or some type of girdle protection.
8.12 The Hockey Puck is a ball.
Important Safety Rules
The following is taken directly from the NJYRHA Rules and Administrator's Guide:
17.01 All equipment must be in good condition, properly used and properly worn.
17.02 Misuse of any equipment will not be tolerated.
17.03 Fighting will not be tolerated.
17.04 Poor sportsmanship which instigates misconduct will not be tolerated (i.e. "taunting") "Zero Tolerance" is the guideline.
17.05 Player safety is a prime factor in determining every rule and guideline.
